      Me neither .i been told before by a few people over the years these audi quattro sport cars are made from by using 2 cars cutting them in half and cutting them up 😲😲 .i didnt actually know they were serious O M G

      It's a very basic view of how's it's done... almost makes it sound easy 😂

      Thanks! It’s just the very basics in terms of the how I’m going to put the bare shell together.

    Great channel, watching you work reminds me of myself, never enough space tools or hands…!! i am a ford man my friends had Quattros, I was always impressed with the level of grip they had, building a short wheel base is a perfect idea something we often talked about doing, look forward to the end result 👌

      Thanks... and yes, my main challenge is space! It's sooooooo frustrating having to move something first, so I can move something else, so I can then get on with some actual work!

    Your progress on this project is amazing

      Cheers thanks... although to be frank, progress isn't as fast as I'd like. It'd be nice to be able to produce more content... but building whilst filming and editing content, all in my spare time, makes overall progress a little slow :(

    A couple of weeks ago I bought a 1 owner rust free, no accidents 1980 Audi 4000 5+5 2 door for under $1,000. Now I have 2 of them and a 4 door 4000.

      I wish! One thing (well, two really) I do still need to source, is a pair of 2-door doors... I can't begin to fabricate and set the roof or b-pillar positions without these...

      @@sportquattro86 the GT coupe doors are the same as the 5+5 EXCEPT for the window rail/frame that has a less steep angle. I wish we didn’t have the Pacific Ocean in between us, because I’d gladly let you use my spare doors so you can start fabricating the rest. Where did you get the bodykit from? Keep posting videos! They are awesome.

      Yes, I have the coupe doors from my quattro.
      What's an ocean between friends... send them over... I'll look after them :)

    Hello. I complimented your great video series on one of your earlier episodes. I see you had contact with Mr Tonks. I have had great help from him over time. I am based in Europe but am coming down to Sydney and Brisbane soon. Maybe I could help with some small parts you need. If you wish we could contact privately. Cheers

      @sportquattro86  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I have... Mr T has been kind enough to offer his help and support!
      Absolutely... if you can find a pair of 2-door doors, and wedge them in your suitcases, that'd be epic!!! :)) They are the final pieces of the jigsaw puzzle needed to be able to progress with the main fabrication.

    It would be nice to install a roll cage to give the car even more strength

    • @sportquattro86
      @sportquattro86  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would indeed... however, my car is for the road and not track... in fact, it will be my daily driver. However, here in Queensland, Australia, you are not allowed to have a roll cage.

    Dialynx used to cock em up with wrong shape shells
    These days the cars are the correct shape

      I was on a track day at Mallory Park when Dialynx were there with their silver beast... god it was proper quick! I think that one had the correct a-pillar though.

    I dont get it with these sport Q builds ,,,,yes the screen rake is that of an 80 but the coupe is more aero and just easier to do , just shorten a coupe ,,, it's for you... it's for fun unless your trying to make a 100% replica that might appeal to some enthusiast in resale ,,,whats the point in giving yourself so much more work and money to spend on lets face it , a tiny detail .... i would save the expense and spend it on engine and drivetrain

    • @sportquattro86
      @sportquattro86  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly right… it’s for me, and I do indeed want it to have the correct dimensions and look - externally at least. I think we’ll have to agree to disagree about it being a ‘tiny detail’.
      I’ve already chopped the car in half dude, modifying the roof isn’t significantly more drama than this.
      …and what would be the point of going to all this work, and then produce a half-arsed job.? Now that makes no sense to me whatsoever.
      The rest of the build won’t be negatively affected by what effort I put into the shell. Lots of nice spanking new goodies already sourced to bolt on underneath :)
      I do welcome the feedback… and appreciate anyone who takes the time to comment.
      Cheers man.
