I was just in Japan for vacation and had to take home a G Shock. This was my choice. I’m a watch enthusiast and had to get this watch. Yes it has only basic functions but I loved its look compared to my other G Shocks. In addition I made a price comparison to US prices and this was less expensive in Japan. I have no regrets making my purchase.
I purchased the all black one today and I absolutely love it!! I literally got 3 or 4 comments within hours of purchasing. Definitely a fashion watch but not trendy. Clean timeless look great for all types of people
I got this today in all black, really pleased. I own the full metal square in gold and want it in black too but wasn't too happy about dropping that money again. I realise I like metal strap more but overall this does the job as the only functions I used on metal sq was solar and on occasion Bluetooth. Full metal feels so premium but this one is an excellent alternative if you can get it for under 140usd which I'm sure you can. Likely I'll get the full metal in black one day but this is excellent and might just take its place - in terms of negative display, I'm negative display gang for life so it's just fine and -Just my 2 cents.
How are the buttons to press? They appear slightly larger. I have the G square bug lately. After going through a bunch of watches for a “work” watch I’ve stuck on a 5610. Accurate, easy to read, no worries about cleanup. Tried a dw5000bb but as sharp as it is in a fashion sense the negative display wasn’t for me.
My go to is still the 5610 when it comes to Gshock too. The buttons are a fair amount larger though and easier to press. If it was positive display I'd definitely be more into this one. Thanks.
*Great review!* Have the golden one and the GMW B5000 1ER and... *love it* In your opinion, is the *display using STN* is it as legible as his "bigger brothers"?
Nice, honest review, Bob. I am reminded of the Cylon robots from the first generation Battlestar Galactica series with this watch's polished metal and black accents. It is disappointing about the lack of legibility but that tends to be how negative LCD displays are. I agree that the GWM-5610 is still the smart choice amongst square G-Shocks.
I'd like to try a negative display with the STN technology. I like the idea of a negative display but I don't think it quite works for me. I do like the look though. My 5610 of the Gshocks I've tried is perfect for what I need it for although I'll still probably give the Full Metal a go at some point. Thanks Lee :)
Are the pushers bigger on this than say a dw5600, they look a bit bigger in pictures, I need to use a countdown timer at work very frequently so the small recessed pushers on most of the other g shock square won't work for me. Liked the video too btw
I really don't see it as a tool watch, nor as a fashion watch. I'm not convinced about this model. I prefer all rubber or all Stainless steel versions. Great video, as always, Bob!
I have just started to love gshocks got a GST100 and a GST 200 and a 5600 they are amazing watches need a mudmaster now.. This one is too much bling for me your review is perfect a Gshock fashion watch. But i do believe there is a Gshock for everyone out there..
I love Gshocks too and totally agree. I've tried a few and there's definitely a G for everyone. Even though this one wasn't really my type of Gshock it was still pretty cool to check out. Thanks Alan and good luck snagging that Mudmaster:)
These watches look great but IMO....especially with the prices the way they are in Australia...I'd go all out and get the full metal silver or gold ones. I have both and I love them.
I enjoyed the video. Just purchased a used one of these and plan to swap out the resin band with an after market steel one. You probably know this, but I would advise against wearing a watch, or anything else on your hands for that matter, while using any power tools as it can get caught and cause an injury. Cheers!
The GW5600 is definitely the better option (even though it's more expensive). The negative display is great, much easier to reader, brighter, just better in every way. The screw down case back is nice, it's solar powered, bluetooth, multiband 6, the silicone on the band is nicer, metal keeper, it's just better. I was second guessing my purchase when the cheaper model was released until I saw one and was able to compare.
Yea I like the full metal too! Been thinking about pulling the trigger but I just purchased and Arnie and the new Q Timex ( should be here tomorrow) so I gotta chill for a while! 😂
I don't know, no screw back plate, no tough solar, no 6 multiband, it's basically like if you mod your own 5600 but at much higher cost and without the metal bracelet...I see Casio trying to compete against that mod but failing for me. And of course you will have a better package modding a 5610 and at the same price more or less.

Very cool. I'd love to go to Japan sometime. Great keepsake to have from your trip. Thanks!

I was very tempted by the black one too. Looks really sharp. Enjoy it!
CAN YOU PLS GIVE MODEL NO
Bought the black today, haven't looked the time these many times ever 😃
This watch is gorgeous 😍
It's definitely a looker 👍👍
I never went more than 4 meters under the sea , I don’t know why I chose to confess it here , but I had to .
I haven't been much further :)

Great review. How do you think this compares to the DW5600BB? Which is better? Thanks
I think they're close. I probably slightly prefer this over the dw5600bb if I had to pick but can't go wrong with either.
I wonder if you can you say something about the toughness of the metal case?
I can say it's picked up a couple of scratches. I haven't had it long enough to know how it will hold up against a resin case over time though.
*Great review!* Have the golden one and the GMW B5000 1ER and... *love it* In your opinion, is the *display using STN* is it as legible as his "bigger brothers"?
I don't believe it has STN. Doesn't seem nearly as legible. Still a cool watch though.
One question... can you turn the button beep off? As I require a silent operation.
Yes you can turn it off.
TimeToGo Travel And Timepieces awesome
I am in Vietnam and it seems I can only get the 5600 LC. Do you know anything about this? Can’t really find any reviews on it. Thank you.
Sorry haven't seen one in person yet.
Dw 5600 is a classic, Gm 5600 is sexy.

Casio GM-5600, full metal jacket! Excellent review bro😎👍
I like that name! Thanks Aron👍

Good man. I'll sub you for that
Well thought out honest video, thanks Bob.
Much appreciated.

Fashion watch might not quite be the word I was looking for but I think I agree. I'd likely prefer the all steel too. Thanks Adrian!

under sunlight readability?
Not great! You need to look at it at just the right angle to read it in sunlight.
@@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces no problem if we can see
You should also check out the new G-Shock GA-2100 Carbon Core series! It's 99 US retail and is supposed to be one of the thinnest G-Shocks
I've been eyeing those. Liking the look. Definitely a good chance I'll be picking one up. Thanks.
TimeToGo Travel And Timepieces - Pick that Royal G-Shock up!

I've tried an aftermarket bracelet on my GA2100 and it's quite nice. Also definitely wise words when it comes to working with power tools. Thanks.
Wish it had the GW-B5600 functions in this metal casing.
Totally agree on that.
A steel bezel for the GW-B5600 then. ;)

I agree on all fronts. Still have this one but will definitely upgrade to the 5600 at some point. Thanks.
Awhat you think about GWS56001.?
Haven't seen one in person but looks cool.
Do you happen to still have this watch? I am in the market for one. Great review.
Unfortunately I traded with a friend awhile back. Not sure their availability now but good luck with finding one. Thanks.
Availability still in Asia. I just bought the smaller one in Singapore
oh man, it's really cool!
Wonderful Watch 😍
Thanks 😁👍
Nice review sir. Thanks.
Appreciate that Kenneth.
Yea I like the full metal too! Been thinking about pulling the trigger but I just purchased and Arnie and the new Q Timex ( should be here tomorrow) so I gotta chill for a while! 😂
Lol! Yeah sometimes you have to pump the brakes a little in this hobby for sure. Enjoy the new Timex when it comes in :)
I mean, if your not really kidding, im interested in buying.

Next one will probably the model you have. Thanks!
Nice you''ll love it !
