As a former McDonalds employee of 5+ years, even though I left 6 years ago, I regularly still have dreams where I have to return to the beeping hell.
What's worse is when your store owner is a cheap fuck and doesn't replace the nugget fryer even though it's constantly overheating and it beeps about twice and second and there is *nothing* you can do to fix it without risking losing your job
I’ve been working for 3+ years by now (and still going) and to be honest, I’m just used to it by now, don’t really care anymore

3:48 I work a part-time at McDonald's. Half the time I'm cleaning up the lobby, I'm taking a look at all the people ordering from the kiosk, jotting down the numbers in my head just in case the printer paper doesn't come out. If it doesn't, I immediately show up beside them and tell them exactly what their order number is. It's such a relief for the other person, and such a good feeling for me.
EDIT: For a quick heads-up, don't look down at the paper printer when you're ordering off the kiosk. Keep your eyes glued to the screen until you see your number, and THEN look for the printer paper. Saves you the hassle of having to ask the workers which order is yours, even if that works too.

I actually never have a problem with the koisks so they just work seamlessly for me, and I can take however long to customize the item while knowing all the prices and options, it's one of the best quality of life inventions ever for fast food imo
McDonalds kiosks are usually great, but when they do that thing that makes them not process your payment at all you just wanna give up
@monsterdonster9981 it only happened to me once and I just paid to front counter, my local McDonald's is just really good overall though, always hot crisp fries and stuff
I'm pretty sure there's a kiosk near me that's had the printer door hanging off for at least a year now. The most common problem I encounter is when I order a cheeseburger and forget to take out the nasty stuff (anything that's not cheese or burger, ketchup can stay though). The kiosk may tell me that I'm not allowed to eat in the restaurant but I don't take orders from robots.

The kiosks always work fine for me, with the exception that they never seem to keep them stocked with receipt paper.

5:25 as someone who has worked fast food, fries are kept frozen until they are put into the fryer. Procedure is to make sure all of the fries are submerged in the hot oil, but managers are now having employees fill above the fry line, meaning that some fries never get cooked at all, as they don’t get any hot oil on them. This leaves the fries above the line still frozen.

2:18 when you hear that beeping it means that food has reached it's "expiration time" where it doesn't taste as good anymore, and it has to be thrown out to the trash. usually it's around 15-30min for meats and 5-10min for fries. fresh vegies get an hour in a cooled drawer.
Also you get used to the smell and force yourself to don't think about it.

Fun story: my McDonald’s had these ordering machines where, and almost every time me and my dad went to McDonald’s we would use them, but one day the screen on the machine thingy had smudges. Me and my father didn’t think much of it and we ordered out food, we went back home to eat sitting in the living room, my dad in his bedroom, in scroller though my phone until I found this article from this local news thingy Turns out that same machine ordering system thingy we used had 10% skid marks. People would use the toilet then use the goddamn machine without washing their hands, and the amount of times me and my dad order from that machine was a lot, so that fact that we were touching a screen that possessed a percentage of 10 percent skid on it was disgusting we never went that McDonald’s again, and soon we moved.
why would you not just order your food and go wash your hands or use the hand sanitizer available to you? i always do that when i eat out at fast food or a resturant

I was once at my local McDonald's with my friends, i decided to get my usual order of a large big mac meal but I was ordering with the ordering machine. When I saw that you could take everything off, I had a devious, devilish idea. Long story short 10 minetes later I was talking to the manger on how my big mac order was really just 3 slices of cheese

worst experience id had at that maccas its usually pretty good and my mate ended up getting a free order in the end while i paid in advance so i just got my order

4:03 This definitely happened to me once. I finished my order but I didn't get my recipe and I forgot my order number so I was just standing in line awkwardly for my food. Afterwards, I asked the employee's and they managed to get my food thankfully. 😅
One time I ordered on one of the machines and after 30 minutes I heard an employee tell someone else that the machines weren’t working. About 7 other customers got up, presumably in the same situation as me. We couldn’t just leave at that point bc the machine had charged us, so we either needed a refund or to order again. So we had to wait in line another 15 minutes and for those who ordered, wait another 20 minutes for their food…

1:23 i work at a mcdonalds, and my job is to usually start making burgers and dropping buns while wearing a headset so i know what to make in advance. And yes, its impossible for both parties to understand a word through the 2 bit mics. And the headsets are always 4000% too loud so it ruptures your eardrums

I'm pretty sure any McDonalds can do a Denali Mac, which is an Alaskan menu item (it's a Big Mac with Quarter Pound patties). I'd recommend if you want a bit more protein in your Big Mac.

1:40 As a former fast food employee, let me attest to this. The headset systems most locations use are old as shit, like from the 80’s and haven’t been changed since and they are rather cheap things too. So by nature they are one-way. Meaning whenever I depressed the button to speak through my headset, it cuts off all audio and I cannot hear the customer at all. If a worker completely ignores you it’s likely they had the button pressed down while you were speaking, and the sound just didn’t play in their head phones. 😂

As someone who currently works at McDonalds, the whole video is so accurate. The receipt printer one is so real. Usually it's not out of paper, it's jammed. The type of receipt printer McDonald's use jams after every 5th customer I swear to god. And by the way, if you manage to get a Mcdonalds when it's quiet, and they have to scratch-cook everything, burger patty, fresh fries, etc, prepare for the best fucking food you'll ever taste. The difference between hot McDonalds and cold McDonalds is night and day.
I remember how for a while they served 2 different items. The "Mac Jr." and the "Grand Mac". I'm assuming that the Mac Jr. was supposed to be the Big Mac equivalent of the Wopper Jr. from Burger King. Thing is, basically no one ever got it. I remember most folks who ordered one of the following ordered the Grand Mac instead. Like, I heard A LOT of people ordering the Grand Mac during the time when it was out.

When ordering from a McDonald's drive thru, ask them not to put any ice in your soda.
It's kind of a dice toss if they'll actually do it, but when they do it means you actually get the entire cup's worth of soda, instead of a cup of ice with 1 fluid ounce of coke.

chances are they will just fill it up the normal amount that includes ice because when i worked there u had buttons for each size and a start/stop button but some of them didnt work so you couldnt manually refill

My guy, you are completely wrong. The machine is dispensing drinks, not us. We can't add more without manager's permission and we definitely don't add more soda when you ask your drink without any ice.
Also, I don't know how good it works in different countries but if we have a drink that had ice and it all melt down, sometimes managers tell us to sell them as without ice. So yeahhhhhhhh
