    In the 80’s music was at its best. Music was involve in a lot of charity work. Love this, esp cause I know most of them. We sure need unity in America. 🇺🇸

    Thank you fellas for the fabulous review. This was HUGE. It was played by over 8000 radio stations all over the world at the SAME time (UNITY for the win).🤗 Quincy Jones hung a sign over the door "check your egos at the door." All these artists are powerhouses in their genre of music (motown, pop, rock, country, folk, R &B, etc). This song was accomplished in a 1 day starting pretty late due to some of the same artists performing at the Grammys that night. All of them had to learn it (that's why some are still reading the music). None of them got paid. They all signed 100 posters (I absolutely loved that Stevie Wonder signed his with his thumbprint right in the middle ❤.) To auction for charity along with All sales of the single. I am so happy I got to see this magical moment of history LIVE as well as hands across America. To the people today check YOUR egos at the door, quit getting offended and hateful. We are ALL a part of God's great big family We are a child of GOD FIRST then enter any adjective here (age, race, ethnicity, culture.) It's our DIFFERENCES that make us unique. So help your fellow sisters and brothers with whatever gift God has blessed you with. 😇
    Ps Thank you guys for giving God a shout out. You made my day!

    This song was a big deal when I graduated from college. It was amazing to learn that these singers had just attended the Grammy Awards and right after they went to A&M Studios to record this song. Despite the "Check Your Egos At The Door" sign, these artists had a genuine respect for each other and they pulled this off without a hitch. It's unfortunate to note that several of the singers passed on recently: Waylon Jennings (sang in the choir - 2002), Ray Charles (2004), June Pointer (one of the Pointer Sisters singing in the choir - 2006), Michael Jackson (2009), Al Jarreau (2017), James Ingram (2019), and Kenny Rogers (2020). When I take a look at the remainder of the ones who are alive their age range is early 70s to early 80s. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your video. It was a very good reaction.

    The whole raising money for the starving in Ethiopia was started by Bob Geldof in the UK. They formed Band Aid which sang "Do they know it's Christmas". The Americans had USA for Africa "We are the World" and Canada had the Northern Lights with Tears are not Enough. LIVE AID was the concert that eventually came from all of this broadcast simultaneously in the UK and the USA. It was quite the TV event.

    And speaking of LiveAid , a lot of the artist that sang at LiveAid that were still there in Philadelphia came together and sang We Are The World at the end of the concert.

  • @bambamnj
    @bambamnj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just an FYI - Live Aid took place in both UK and USA at the same time. The event was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, UK, attended by about 72,000 people, and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, US, attended by 89,484 people.
    USA (United Support of Artist), was conceived by Harry Belafonte, who took inspiration from "Do The Know It's Christmas", which came out in 1984. So all of these creations and events were happening/being created as a result of that original song. According to reports there were over 100 artists who were interested in participating but for reasons I do not know, there were like 50 artist who had to be turned away.
    There was a remake of "We Are The World" done in 2010 (We Are the World 25) 25 years later, to help Haiti when they experienced a 7.0M earthquake. The same song was used but modernized for 2010. Lionel Richie has proposed another remake to be done now to help with COVID. I have not heard if that is moving forward.

    Great song. Reason it was written was in the 80s there was a huge famine in Africa that killed millions. These stars came together after the Grammys (they were all at the awards at the same time so best time to do it) and recorded it in one all night session. All proceeds went to African aide. They took not one penny.
