Yours is an underrated channel. With the prevalence of sweet/blue/ambroxan/unisex scents being pumped out of fragrance houses, I feel confident many of the scent profiles from the pre-2000's will make a comeback.
Hi Kelan, great comparison as always! 👍🏻 I bought 3 gift sets (Aftershave + Deodorant Stick) right when it came out in 1990 (I was young 16). The juice color was the same faint yellow-green as today, but 2 sprays of the EdT back then last all day. The 3rd gift pack I never used and stored it in my basement for almost 20 years away from heat/sun. When I pulled it out to sell it on eBay the juice became the same amber color like your vintage bottles. Greetings from Germany, Dan
I have some very well-preserved Parfums International bottles that still have the clear juice. To my nose, they still smell the same as the ones that turned yellow.
A few months ago i went to the shop to get Dior Eau Sauvage. However, i happened to try this and was blown away. So i got 1881 instead. I even get a hint of Antaeus in the deep dry down. Great video, Kelan.
I had the OG in the early 90s. My first bottle of fragrance. (I was 12)😆 Nothing smelled like it! It seemed so different and new. It ushered in the new decade. The colours in the ad campaign, bottle and packaging looked the complete antithesis of the 80s. Soft, natural, hazy and creamy, smooth and fresh. Not harsh, blocky, heavy and striking and dark. It smelled expensive, well engineered and fine. A baggy linen suit as opposed to a double breasted silk corset with shoulder pads! 😆
Best scent channel on the Tubes... I am a fougere addict and your videos are amazingly good and informative. Also love that you trim the fat (so many YT'ers love to hear themselves talk and opine endlessly) and keep the topics succinct and tight. Well done sir.
Another great comparison. Interesting about the extra florals in the travel spray! I've actually created a Hulk of a fragrance in the past by layering the current formulation with Boucheron's Pour Homme edp. It's literally like the ultimate 1881 experience. 😎
Great tutorial thank you , I have used this since it ist came out, the new version is nice but doesn’t compare to the vintage . I managed to buy a vintage one on eBay & it smells wonderful , I’m not saying the current one doesn’t smell good but it just lacks something. I always get compliments when I wear this & just 2 sprays on the neck with the vintage lasts all day . Why don’t the fragrance companies just stick to the original formula ? Keep the videos coming 😊
Love this perfume I have a vintage 50 ml and it's written Nino cerrutti 1881 and its eau de toilette with no sprayer(spash) i dont know how old it is, when the name of nino was still written. And I have a recent one from 2015
You should try Oscar for men by Oscar De la Renta. Its a bit like this but more pepper and leather with a bit of something old school put in. Way higher quality too. Imagine this mixed with mabey some pepper and green lauder for men thrown in.
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey it's actually very unique. Many don't like that's it's not sweet and don't like the pepper. Ramsey loves it. I have a feeling it will be right up your alley. Keep pumping out the vids Kelen
Kelan! I was able to locate a small bottle of the Parfums International version of 1881, that is indeed phenomenal. I am unable to find anymore out there so now between the Unilever and Coty versions which one do you recommend?
This comparison is very similar to Passion for Men… Parfumes International and the modern counterpart version? Smell great just a bit lighter yet hardly different
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey do your vintage scents tend to keep the same smell over time when you store them well or some changes are inevitable? Because I'm on the verge of buying a vintage new unopened 2013 Guerlain Habit Rouge but kinda hesitate because of that
@@n._scents 2013 you should be fine especially if it’s sealed in box, it’s ones that are very very old I’d be worried about. Always message the seller and get it in writing that the fragrance is still fresh and not sour from age or improper storage before you order.
I recently bought a bottle as I had a bottle over 20 yrs ago and loved it. I don't like the new one tbh I think it smells too sweet and leaves a smell of soap. Not impressed
It's a horrible scent I don't know why you favor it in your opinion Gray flannel is horrible but this is horrible and Gray flannel IS a wonderful scent

You can enjoy both classics and new stuff though. For example I love to wear 1881 for men but I will reach for Dylan Blue if it’s getting dark out
The classics are the best and absolutely stand out now a days

@@manlyscents I wonder what causes some to change color during storage
One of my favorite retro scents. Fresh, clean, piney, old school. I wear it on vacations and just when I'm relaxing around the house. 😊
Perfect for anytime really but a great scent to take with you on a vacation
Had a bottle in the 90s, liquid colour was green, similar to the modern version. The amber shade could well be due to age.
Yeah was trying to think back to when I had this years ago and I thought it was the same colour as the modern stuff.
Kelan, your reviews are always excellent! There are 3 TH-cam fragrance reviewers I enjoy and trust, and you are one of them. Thank you.
Thank you for the support Stephen !

It’s awesome right ! Thanks for watching
1881 is boss as hell man. Classy and different. I noticed that the compliments I have gotten have all been from women who have class too.

Always liked 1881. Great fresh, clean scent for all seasons. ✌️
So fresh always want to have bottles of it
Great video and I enjoyed it and I'm going to try it and have a blessed day
Definitely try this one !
Absolutely 💯 GOD BLESS 🙏

I've never heard of this Fragrance or this House Before. You're always bringing us something Interesting.
Definitely try it if you like green Italian fougere style scents
In Europe you can get it everywhere!

Bruh, give us a skincare/grooming routine video plz
Great video Kelan keep it up 👍👏👏👏
Always !
I only have the current formulation but nonetheless is a killer fragrance for spring/summer
Absolutely it’s so good regardless of formulation
I need a nice Avon black suede review. I feel like you would enjoy that one

Hello scents of south Jersey, could you please do a video of the most powerful fragrances you would recommend?
Love this perfume
I have a vintage 50 ml and it's written
Nino cerrutti 1881 and its eau de toilette with no sprayer(spash) i dont know how old it is, when the name of nino was still written. And
I have a recent one from 2015
Wow that one must be a very early edition
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey 😊
It is heavy on oakmoss and has animalic vibes.
Great channel - you Ramsey and Rich Mich for all my frag content.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey no worries. Enjoying it. Any views on Boucheron vs Cerruti?
Omg i love cerutti 1881!! Been thinking of buying a bottle. Ive heard its really weak now though
Buy one ! It’s amazing regardless in my opinion, but also the vintage won’t cost much either
I finally bought it! The opening is a bit much but I love the drydown... smells kind of metallic or like the inside of an old post office

I’ve heard good things about that one but also others have said it’s basic so I was always torn, I love pour lui though

Well they are not thatttt much different but if you can get the Unilever version I’d say get it. But either way you can’t go wrong
This comparison is very similar to Passion for Men… Parfumes International and the modern counterpart version? Smell great just a bit lighter yet hardly different
Only tried that one time in a rack store, can’t remember the scent now though it was a while back
Im sure the juice colour has changed with age, the original release wasn't darker like your bottle.....experiencing major envy right now 😂
Yeah I heard that is just something that happens with time, initially they were all the clear / light color
is it similar with denim original
It’s much brighter than denim original, both are amazing inexpensive classics though !
Maybe the difference in smell comes from aging in a way?
I’m sure that has something to do with it as well along side the way less regulations on the ingredients when the vintage versions were made.
