- While "Adventure Drive" is a family roller coaster at Suzuka Circuit, it's certainly not short on "FUN!" I believe this is the world's first "Scream Powered" roller coaster where in order for the train to launch, you need to scream as loud as you can! It's awesome fun!!! Suzuka Circuit is a park geared for younger kids, almost like a Legoland of Japan. It's a fun park!

Lol!! That's so true. With all the different lift/propulsion methods and such weird straightaways and turns like on roller coaster tycoon where you have weird straight always just to make it line up back with the station, lol.
hah, well it's a kids ride so it kinda works.
It was actually designed by world renown coaster enthusiast Ted Boppel. It took him 3 years to design this coaster and it cost 4.5 million to build!

Has anyone just not screamed? Does it still launch if you don't scream? If a mute person rides it what's gonna happen?
It still does launch if you don't scream, but it takes longer. Apparently the louder you scream, the faster you go, but being that it's more of a "kids roller coaster" it didn't seem to make THAT much of a difference. Still, a fun, unique feature on a ride!
Theme Park Review is there actually a microphone or does the ride operator just hear them and launch them accordingly?

This is one of the many reasons why I like Japan. They’re always creative with everything with rides and roller coasters!!! ^^ And as always, I will always consider Japan as one of the best countries I’ve ever known ^^

They, uh, forgot the "coaster" part of this roller coaster. I swear it's like 60% lift hills and another 20% straightaways. I'm all for family coasters but this thing barely does anything.
Technically it is a coaster as it coasts around the track, even if a lot of it is straight sections.
Nice idea Japan. I can simply make the scream microphone using a simple mic contraption, connect it to a threshold trigger port, set how loud you should scream and done. simple af

The fact that this park had a vekoma SLC and a Premier Rides LIM kinda makes this park feel like it was a park that closed and replaced with this
the slc was moved to my "home park" (which is like 4 hours away from my home) in 2008 now named fire whip and around 11 years later it got the new trains (probably too late to get new restrains)

Fay Wray, of the original King Kong movie, could cause this coaster to achieve escape velocity with her scream.
It's like the creator of this ride thought "What do we have left..." and just combined some things. The lifthill is crazy slow, there are different types of tires and the launch parts aren't really that great launches... does look fun though!
What happens when you bring a device that projects a very loud sound?
I doubt the sound system will be able to distinguish between screaming and other sounds but I'm unsure that if you scream louder you go faster or if it detects a certain level of noise it just launches you at the same amount of speed.
