Video Name: 7 GAME-CHANGING Polytopia Features That Most Players DON'T Know About
#polytopia - เกม
The first two should definitely be explained in an in-game tutorial
a cool hidden feature is that if you play xin xi you are part of my gang for people cooler than the rest of the tribes
yay!
Sweet!!
Nah oumaji is the goat

Alright pal, im going to give you one chance to reconsider your favorite
A handy road trick is building a road going out toward a village you want to capture. If the tile your unit is on and the next tile have roads, the unit can move a second tile after moving along the road, even if the destination tile doesn't have a road.
Also, forests block multi tile movement of units such as riders, but not if they have a road. However, enemies can't use roads in your territory, so growing forests on your roads can hinder invasions!
🤯
The Yadakk theme when discussing the roads was a nice touch :)
Been playing constantly since 2018 and didn’t know a few of these (the white circle to show movement and the clicking a unit before it moves into fog).
Great vid!
Another useful fact is that the water is a little lighter near the coastlines. Using this feature, you can see the coastline through the fog
1:02 for the first one you can also find out weather you’ve moved or not by if that unit can heal themself on that turn if so they have not been moved if not they have already been moved or have attacked
This is also true!
Also if you've unlocked free spirit then the unit can only disband if it hasn't moved yet
3:34 this feature is helpful but it will show units even if they can only break ice so it sometimes becomes useless
Also will show cymanti troops that can explode as well. This is kind of annoying with the centipede at times.
Yeah I think maybe Midjiwan could adjust the feature to only highlight units that can move, then maybe cycle to units that can also attack? Or maybe mark a unit as "no actions" for the turn so the cycle can skip that unit? Idk, seems like a lot of complexity for a fringe feature. At the same time there's plenty of times I want to move a unit but not attack with it
@@GullYYGamer They should have a feature to end a units turn. A pass action that greys the unit out and prevents it from coming up on the active unit cycling again, that you can use if you don't want to take any more actions with that unit this turn.
@@GullYYGamer CIV 6 has a feature that does that and it's kinda annoying lol
@@Sgrunterundt I think it's a better and cleaner alternative
I really like tip #5 because I often play on quite large maps, and always struggle to find that last one or two units that I haven’t moved yet. Thanks for the help!
Funny thing I've been playing polytopia since it was released amd I didn't know about the unit moved or not indicator until now. People on forums simply suggested to check if the rider can recover or if it can attack nearby units because they didn't know about this feature either 😅
Regarding tip 5: I wish they had a "Done" option for a unit. I moved him but I don't want him to attack. That way it won't keep telling me I still have units to move and I can get to the blue "End Turn" icon.
Tip 6: Let the enemy move a giant into your city if you have it surrounded with his or your units and maybe some water. Fill in the area where he moved from and then produce a giant. Their giant dies. (I only play bots, so this probably won't work against human players.)
I does I’ve done it multiple times, very handy against people who use cloaks
Woah, didn’t know about the damage calculator! Awesome
I’ve played two seasons on polychamps and I literally had no idea about the first one lol, that should absolutely be in the tutorial, can’t count how many times I have messed up riders!!
Oh and thanks for the tip about how corner spawns change starting score, that could have messed me up 🙏
I found that border growth is really good when right next to the ocean because you have more room to upgrade your ships! Great video GullY.
I feel like the 7th point is already explained through the description of roads itself, something better could have been the fact that unclaimed villages also have a built in road on the tile, so if you have a unit next to an unclaimed village you can get away with only building 1 road to move it instead of needing 2
I love Polytoodaloo
I actually did not know about the system for finding leftover units with actions left.
Nice.
A boosted polaris knight on ice with the polartism tech will let you move like 10 tiles across the map but it's so nich it will probably never happen in a live game. I have a video on my channel of me doing it in an offline game.
never heard about the first one before, really niche but can be useful
Absolutely, it used to happen to me all the time. I was stunned when I learned about the indicator
You can use the damage calculator in reverse as well. If you select an enemy unit within range of your units and then hover/hold on your unit, you can see how much damage an enemy can do to you next round.
Yo, played this game since chilhood, never knewn bout tha white border!THx
New Gully upload this is the new best day of my life, until the next video.
I'm glad you enjoy my videos so much lol
maybe unit pushing in general. I know it is best utilized by Elyrion but still is sometimes comes to play even without them.
Absolutely!
idk if this is hidden but something i just noticed not too long ago is that standing on mountain tiles will reveal more terrain than standing on normal plain old open field
I know you stated that clicking the tribe icon to exit the Tech Tree doesn't provide a competitive advantage but that action, rather than reaching to the top left corner of my phone every time I exit the Tech Tree, has saved me time and energy which is very important during Live Games.
One tactic I employ during Live Games while on Steam is using my right hand for the mouse and my left just for the 'Esc' button. It's pretty handy to use a free hand to exit the Tech Tree or Info tabs instead of the Game Stats tab rather than dragging and clicking the exit buttons with a cursor.
Tip #6: Just make sure your super unit doesn't die on the next turn!
Me using Elyrion: 💀💀💀
I've never seen a polytopia video naturally pop up in my feed
UNTIL NOW
Oh my, one of the parts that was known information about the clicking a unit to see if it will kill yours through retaliation with the black cross on the units circle I didn't actually know because I am colorblind. I looked for so long to try and see what you were talking about, didn't see it, then tried looking specifically at the circle and noticed that the barely noticeable darker parts of the red circle were even there 🥲I want colorblind mode. luckily I found the calculator thing on my own, as well as most of the other stuff without this video.
One of the most underrated tip is if u click a ruin 4 times and then hold it, it actua shows what’s inside the ruin
Thank me later
It doesnt work@@Bot-tc3km
Yeah and if you tap and hold on the previewed reward you can actually change it to what you want!!1!
@@GullYYGamer 😂 and u can win the game if u want, there is an option
And if you go to the bathroom at 3 am and scream "シマンティ神に栄光あれ" 3 times and chew on the soap, a portal will appear that gives you a necklace. If you wear it, you guarantee to win every single round of polytopia
Thank yuou!
Nice vid!!
Thanks you!
You can delete a sieging unit by surrounding the sieging unit then upgrading the village and selecting a super unit. Since the unit has no place to go, it just gets deleted.
Yaaayy frequent uploads
Hey gully do you record footage specifically for what you are gonna talk over or do you have just a lot of politopia footage in your computer?
Anytime I make a video like this I manually set up scenarios to showcase the point I wish to talk about
Really clean thumbnail, keep it up!
Thank you, I'm really happy with how it turned out as well
Wow, Gully was right! The built in calculator one was EXTREMELY helpful-was always wondering why I occasionally saw that it his videos.
Gully has been uploading a lot recently, it's been a good month
You also could have included how getting diplomacy shows player's alliances and wars, but I'm not entirely sure if that works in multiplayer
very helpful 👍
Glad you got some value from it!
Nice video!
Thanks!
Could I suggest a video on how to use dragons effectively? :D
So 8 tiles is the max distance for a knight with roads? Like giant push, 6 tiles and poly slide.
Technically the max distance is however many lines of Polytaurs you have set up. You can Poly push onto another Polytaur then Poly push again, etc.
1:01 How do you instantly press to do the action? for me it says a confirmation box.
Go to your setting and turn "info on build" off
@@GullYYGamer thx
Can you make a guide on how to play with polaris post naval update?
играю 7 лет уже наверное, а о первой фишке только сегодня узнал. СПАСИБО!
Having 1500 hours on the game, I can proudly say I already knew these! 🎉
from all of this i knew only two, and ive played this game alot
Hello My friend
Good morning!
Could you make a new tribe to buy tierlist video? With all of the balance changes it would be epic
Yep, this is on my to-do list
@@GullYYGamer Thanks!
The eye ball indicator when cloak is near
🤯 I thought this game came out this year
What is it the best way to make points? To take 3 stars at the end of the game?
Riders can move 4 tiles with roads? I thought 3 was maximum.
Riders with polarism on ice can definitely move 4 tiles.
Polytopia say gex update when?
Fr they should add drake
Oh I love Gex
Ultrakill fanbase:
What
Imperius has requested for say gex.
ZONE OF CONTROL how was that not in this video.
I mention at the end that the movement stuff is outside the scope of this video
oh ok
you forgot the most important tip: put the AI on easy so they're easier to beat
Hey Gully! Do you think that you would ever consider doing fan games? my friend and I watch your uploads regularly and would like to face off against you. Thanks!
How do you know where a unit gets pushed?
There’s a video on it but very basically it’s towards the center then follows a pattern of counterclockwise
We need a bbl update
GullYY: making bugs features sience 2017
First tip and I´m already flashed
Well that was a bug literally
Imperius all the way
Been playing forever, and I still didn't know about the white ring and the black cross.
That's great game-design stuff!
