Karl, really loving these videos. Even the photography and the music, quite sublime. Would be awesome to hear your commentaries as to how the nerves of these tournaments compare to the ones world stage you have been on. Or hearing more about your mental strategy, when being against the ropes or on a hill hill. Keep up the awesome work!
Club tourneys, or even bar tourneys like that can be a killer. It's difficult to keep one's stamina over 8-10-13 hours, with in many cases having 3-6 hour waits between matches and then having to walk up to the table cold while your opponent has been shooting for an hour coming out of the losers bracket (in a double elimination event). I think the last tourney I played in I won my first 3 matches in the winners side, sat for 2.5 - 3 hours, then discovered I had lost everything... my stroke, my nerve, my feel. It was actually then I knew it was time to stop playing tourneys and just enjoy practice and weekly league nights.
@@jaspalah I would still argue it's high level. I play in Poland and there are a lot of great pleayers here. The performance these guys showed is not your average weekly club tournament.
@@MD-vy9jb my comment means American pool is not at a high level.. I never said the pool in this video isn't high level. find something/somewhere else to argue about.
@@jaspalah Hi. First of all, please understand that your comment could be understood two ways, especially that there are people here who have english as their second language. Dude. You’re so Rad. As a new player who has yet to run a rack, watching this is both inspiring and so frustrating. Ha ha. What I wouldn’t do to shadow a player like you for a day like this and just absorb as much as humanly possible before going back to the table to practice my basics for a few thousand more hours. Ha. Hey Karl, any videos coming about the mental side of the game. How you coped with pressure during big games. Maybe throw in some footage of shots that you nailed or dogged under pressure in big games and explain what you were feeling and your thought process on the shots you were playing. Great videos so far.

Good stuff. How long were you retired and away? I left competition 9 ball 30 years ago as a top player. Got tired of the 70 hour weekly practice, travel etc started a job, got married, kids, etc, etc and then seriously started back 10 months ago. Loving it! practicing a lot & I saw your refurbished table video. I’m in the middle of refurbishing mine too & going Grey cloth (on black) and tightening the pockets. Few more months to break the cloth in, practice and get used to the new slide and then gonna hit tournaments again. Cheers!
Karl, looks like you still have and I like the style of your videos. You make them entertaining. So, I know you own a Clash Steel Pro and it looks like you guys are playing on them in this video. I'm a beginner and a retired over the hill American living in Portugal. Still, I want good equipment that I know will always be able to support any level of skill that I might achieve. Hey, you know how it is ! : ) I saw that you mentioned owning other brands of tables and those (not named) are wood subframes tables. What were your experiences with those and what is opinion about the Clash Steel versus the Steel Pro? Thanks in advance.
You did awesome, karl and congrats with 2. place. Now ..what cue are you playing with here? I'm so used to see you shoot with your old and trusted Predator cue with a 314/2 shaft, and is genuinely interested in what your new weapon might be. I remember that you got a new setup from Predator before US Open a few years ago, but this was not that red Sang Lee with a Revo. Shoot em straight and stay safe. Cheers from Denmark. /Chris.

short answer: yes im pretty sure he can still play
Yeah it's definitely a bad title, it should say , " can he still play at the top level ? Cause obviously he can still play
Only when the opponent is on the hill can he start to get serious it seems
it's not about whether he still can play or not. It's about the will to put hours and hours of practice every day. I don't think he wants to.
