I was in that situation before, my parents hate me doing works on my miata, and I need to do every job in a mall car park, including a head gasket, brake pads, coilover😂
Oh its super easy man, pull the ducting, take the pcv and evap tubes off, youll want to apply lube. I think theres a bolt for the dipstick tube, and then take the injectors out with 2 bolts that go into the valve cover or head i believe. Then all the intake bolts are straight in. You got this, youll be amazed by how easy it is
Man that is a beautiful car, mine is a 2007 in red color too, but at least your wheels look in good condition, I need to get a new set of wheels, because are kind of beat up.
Yes, you found a deal! Even though Pontiac announce they would build 250 SCCA T2s (turbo) & 250 SCCA SSBs (NA), they only ended up building 89 T2s, and 138 SSBs. The dual strips have been unobtainable for years, mainly because they incorporate a shaded effect to them. Pontiac only offered two colors red or yellow, both had silver stripes. Different decals and different embroidered seats differentiate the T2 from the SSB. Some consider it a collectible, some dont'. YMMV
@@TreadDepthChannel Yep, the SCCA Editions have a VIN with a unique identifier to indicate if it's a T2 turbo, or a Natural Aspirated SSB model. The SolsticeForum has been helping owners since 2003 and has several threads on these cars. Check it out. Your video was posted there recently.
It should also be noted that all T2s are yellow GXPs. All the cars in your trim are red and naturally aspirated. Both are insanely rare. Yours clearly deserved a better owner, and you’re it.
I laughed to myself when he commented hats off to GM for making such an easy engine to work on. There's tons of space, nothing obstructing.... I guess ones perspective really is ones reality because working on my Solstice is a nightmare. EVERYTHING is obstructed. EVERYTHING is an obstacle and a single bolt can take hours in some cases.
It actually is really easy to work on, i know theres no subframe so the oil pan can be a nightmare. Had it not been for the woodruff key being messed up this would have been a walk in the park.
And I thought I was ghetto by rebuilding my engine with the worlds funkiest torque wrench that lost the ability to click when up to spec
did you use of torque wrench? ..yeah
Recently picked up a solstice. Looking for more content on these wonderful little cars. Good work.
Unfortunately i moved on from it but there will be more similar content coming soon!
Very interesting, I'm willing to watch and learn
I've wasted $800 on a lot less fun.
probably about $1500 into it now and im still pretty happy with it
Budget turbo is my suggestion. I love parking lot/backyard work.
Oh if its on this you know its gonna be budget
I can’t wait till the next video this was awesome
Great job in a parking lot! They can be a pain (Indid my timing chain and water pump on a GXP a while back). Hey, it took a week but only $800!
Oh man the water pump is probably way worse on a turbo
I was in that situation before, my parents hate me doing works on my miata, and I need to do every job in a mall car park, including a head gasket, brake pads, coilover😂
I can just see the mall cop being like "you think you can be outta here by 9?"
@@TreadDepthChannel yea, everyone passing by is asking am I alright and see me as a weirdo, it’s all about racing with time lol
Keep these vids up dude!
Will do!
Finally a normal freaking guy😂
"Normal"
$800 is insane, clean body panels are worth $2000 easy and extra 750 if the top was good
Definitely was a good deal, ended up selling the whole car for 3500 a few months later
Auto part are so Expensive I’m not surprised he moved on from it
Haha the solstice probably had the cheapest engine parts of any car ive had!
Sounds like you broke the timing chain guide putting the head on
Nah i broke it taking it off for sure lol
OK one last suggestion. Exoskeleton roadster
cant have trash body panels with no body panels
Any detailed video on removal of the intake? Need to remove it to get to the starter and oil pressure sensor....damn GM engineering! LOL

People are so sensitive about head jobs. You'll be fine.
I know, but its so much fun
Man that is a beautiful car, mine is a 2007 in red color too, but at least your wheels look in good condition, I need to get a new set of wheels, because are kind of beat up.
Haha it only looks good on camera, the body is absolutely beat, the wheels arnt doing too hot either
Clear coat restoration in an MAACO parking lot 😅
