Time Stamps in the description - doesn’t seem to have made chapters on this video 🤔 anyway… Reeves Electro are really making very special pedals! Hope you enjoy this one. 🤟🏼
This is probably the best pedal demo I’ve seen. Please absolutely make more just like this. I like the history of the pedal, where it comes from, who makes it, why etc…. Awesome. But for me the perfect thing was taking the pedal very clearly from low, middle to Full On! Please keep doing these!
Always been a fan of your pedal demos, because you find interesting pedals to demo and your playing/gear help push the pedals into what they're capable of as well as showing off the more subtle sides of the pedal.
Love it. And love the format, as I’ve mentioned, the journey, the inquiry, the glee of diving in deep; that’s what makes your pedagogy so engaging. Keep it up and thanks for the knowledge.
Great demo thanks!! Reeves electro pedals are absolutely gorgeous, especially inside. Kicking myself for not buying a Zo when I had the chance. Oh well...one day🤞 Really enjoyed all aspects of the demo from talking points to some killer playing while showing the full sweep
Great demo, but for me the Zonks meant to be germanium, the silicon just doesn’t sound right, they actually sound bad, to overload-gated-compressed, dry and harsh, similar as the drive effects that were originally designed on germanium and recreated on silicon, sound vastly different on my opinion and I don’t like how silicon sounds on certain designs, I understand the hype on the point to point witing from reeves, is a thing of beauty the guy work and hands off for Marcus carft but I’m after the sound and for me didn’t make it little close to a germanium zonk, little batches hadmade things with guts porn and unique graphic design seems to be “the thing” nowadays but this for me it’s overpriced and vastly overrated for this sound…
Read up on the Zonk Mk2 it was a silicon version produced by John Hornby Skewes as a cheaper version of the first Zonk they made, its a completely different circuit to the Zonk 1 =)
@@reeveselectro Ok, that’s doesn’t mean that sound any better just because is historically correct, and yeah it’s meant to be a cheaper one not like your pedals which looks really nice inside and outside, but not really digging the sound for the money to be honest, no ofense, just a matter of personal sonic taste
The pedal does not sound good but I suspect it is the way you are demonstrating it. Most of the video your playing is soft and quite. Your just whispering into the pedal most the time.
It’s a while back so can’t remember exactly but i imagine if that’s the case my recording technique must have been below par because it was loud, hairy and sounded great in the room - by loud i mean 110db or so. On the other hand we may just have different tastes 🙌
I think is the pedal, its sound this bad as it meant to be a germanium transistor design, silicon transistor on this design sound plain bad…demo is well done

That Dakota sounds so darn good. I need one!
Very nice playing and a pedal I didn't know I needed....now I know!
Great video James. Thank you
