if going from P to R bangs to hard. pull the gear shift all the way to L first. this loads the R / L servo with 150 psi before going to R which is 300 psi. it will not bang as hard.
4.10 gears, 33" BFG A/Ts, 1983 Ramcharger, Building a 450 hp 500 Ft Lb TQ 408 stroker. It will also be bolted to a NP208 turning Dana 60's. I need a rock hard parts list to do a rebuild and I hear good things about raybestos. If anyone wants to be long winded about the 727 built for a truck. Please by all means don't hold back. Especially if you work the performance end of these transmissions on a day to day basis. I want bullet proof, good shift kit with firm shifts not bang shifts in auto, mud water and dust impervious. A good pan and cooler too.
I use anything close by as a hammer if it works it works Not. everyone is willing to buy a strap on hammer fur ten times the price.... Fur Same results
Joe nice series. Thanks for the tutorial. Quick question. What part of the the transgo shift kit gives the chirp on the 1-2 shift? several years ago I had a shop rebuild my 727 and they installed a transgo kit. It shifts nice and firm but has never had the desired 1-2 chirp. The owner has since retired and closed his shop. Of course not knowing exactly what was done is there a fairly easy adjustment to make/inspect to try to get a slight chirp now--(a few years after the fact....so-to-speak)? thanks in advance.
The nice chirp would be to adjust your band strap tighter or looser but mostly probably properly, at 8ft pounds the back of two full turns and tighten lock nut. ..also make sure reverse/third band is the same, you can also adjust your governor for firm shifts points...
Transgo shows the installation of the low/reverse servo spacer as part of the TF2 kit, but how can it be installed without having to remove the extension housing in order to remove the apply arm pivot? Seems otherwise impossible to remove/replace the small strut.
ANYONE who uses a claw hammer on a car, i dont give a shit how knowledgeable they are, its an automatic out for me!!! how is anyone supposed to take you serious bud when you use a claw hammer......
Actually instead of buying over rated strap on hammer and claw bar... You can use a regular hammer. Save a couple hundred and some space in your box too
Kinda like rappers that show off a thousand dollar t shirt that does same thing as normal t shirt But they feel special cause they had enough money to get fucked and not care
This guy can rebuild transmissions from memory. Something you need to watch TH-cam for information about and your gonna complain the end of the hammer that's not being used has a claw? Yes if he had a snap on hammer I'd trust him. Lol Actually I think it shows he smarter than average mechanics willing to pay ten times as much fur something that's usually not any better

Great tutorial. Thanks Joe. Do the bands ever have to be adjusted after the rebuild is complete. If so what and when is it recommended?

most mechanics don't use claw hammers, unless they are building a house.
I actually agree, its become a bit of a joke between us at this point.
