a tip on how to "counter" trick stabs, mainly the metador one... just stand still and watch them try to trickstab you while you unload in their face :D
Often results in them running at you and dying like and idiot, it’s pretty funny to witness
thats the worst way to counter a matador
@@catcloudbox724 and yet it still works
@@organicleaf like everything, depends what players you come across
That would only work on bad spies. With good spies you either just hold s and just dont let them into your melee range
Can confirm that trickstabs are fun, especially when you land the more obscure ones
I love landing the obscure “reverse stair flip degree inverse swipe baguette” stab
@@Jontohil2 The sad part is that, minus the baguette part, someone has definitely said that and tried to pass it off like it's an actual stab of some kind lol
@@Jontohil2 its just called the flipstab
And what are the obscure trickstabs youre talking about?
I love nailing people with the “dirty bubble”
This is insanely high quality. Can't wait to see this pop off
yep, it deserves way more attention
It didn't pop off :(

It is definitely a Jontohil2 moment whenever he says spy has a gun
I remember baiting reading another spy's stairstab attempt and just getting him when he landed. Most memorable stab of my life
We call that the "This is what a real trickstab looks like"
Correction. Most classes can kill a spy with 2 melee hits. The ubersaw, a class of its own kills spies with one.
only when the spy isn't kunai over healed.
also spy can kill most classes with two diamondback crits before they even get into melee range.
"Be polite" is certainly a missing strategy point in some TF2 players. Doing what the class is supposed to do the isn't really something to brag about. Of course, playing a class masterfully is not something anyone can do, but keeping things polite will avoid becoming a target. Players will go out of their way just to deal with you and you'll have a harder time playing your class.
Besides, it's much more impressive seeing someone cleaning house and just being in awe on how good they play. People will want you on their team rather than having another try hard.
gg > ggez
Honestly? This applies to every game, and I hope more people come to this conclusion.
@@sonder_1620 Agreed, while some may argue that trash talking is part of the gameplay experience people forget it paints a target on your back, and you can't always play flawlessly.
Politeness and ace plays makes you a legend, bantering just makes you another grunt.
@@Jontohil2 complementing the stab > crying about it
0:07 out of context is crazy 💀
I could tell this small channel would be good just by the quality of the thumbnail tbh. Keep it up!
Also BIG Risk of Rain 2 soundtrack
Ok, I know it’s not related to the topic of the vid, but the music choice here is amazing. Doom, Risk of Rain, Jojo, and ULTRAKILL? That’s quite the lineup of music.
It now just occurs to me I indeed out all of those in a single video
ultramusix
And Starfox
*Super ultra top secret spy strat for when you're being chased:*
1. find stairs / slope
2. turn around super obviously
3. fuck the stairstab, just run away.
they will notice you turning and think "HA, this is an idiot dumb idiot braindead f2p spy who doesn't know how obvious his stairstabs are!" and will wait at the bottom of the stairs. This is essentially you telling your pursuer "Can you wait there for a sec, I need to get a headstart" and then they politely follow your instructions. If they still chase after you because either
a) you already did this
or
b) they don't know stairstabs exist
then you can just stairstab them normally.
Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk
I love the sfm bits and it’s very clear you put a lot of effort into these!
Also, love all the uses of ULTRAKILL's music, smart choice always.
Trickstabs are basically doing a funny wiggle, and now you can’t unhear it.
If I get a penny everytime I pull a trickstab on a demoknight and they leave the game, I'd have 2 pennies, which is not much but it's funny when it happens.
If I got a penny for every time I pulled a trickstab accidentally by reflex, I’d have 2 pennys, which isn’t a lot but it’s cool when it happens.
if i had a penny for every time i landed a trickstab, ide have... 0... pennies... accept that one time but he was ubered so it didn't even matter...
If I had a penny for every trickstab I have done I would have 2 pennies, just enough to triple my damage by throwing said pennies into the air and shooting them with my revolver
hey really nice video man! spy is one of my fav classes and altho i only get a trickstab once in a blue moon and then get confused on how i did it, it truelly is the best feeling in the world. as a soldier main i would describe it like gettin a market garden. very good video, the animation is good and polished, the jokes are funny and the editing is pretty good. hope to see what you have next, you definitely earned my sub!
😁
While I'd say trickstabs are much more about mind games and market gardening is more about movement, they are very comparable and rather satisfying to pull off for similar reasons. Plus just like with trickstabs, they're not always optimal, but they're fun all Hell to do anyway.
I’ve done the demo knight trickstab by accident like 3 times already and it is both hilarious and satisfying.
Hot take: even though it's inefficient to go for trickstabs in inconvenient situations, it's really fun to see if you can get away with it
That's not a hot take, that's a cold statement
what if you wanted to kill spy,
but god said, *triccstab* .
Man what kind of presentaation is this? SUBBED!
Didnt know its was called trickstab etc
What's funny is that yesterday I just pulled off my first trickstab chain in the last point of Upward with the Kunai and I couldn't help but taunt at the end of it. You feel like the coolest kid in the room.
Great video, fantastic editing, and exquisite music taste!
Watching this at 1AM, half asleep, to only be energized to life by the sudden sound of Death Odyssey
Absolutely glorious music taste my guy :D
loving this channel recently, vids are super high quality, music choice is great, all in all awesome, keep it up!
4:06 to 4:24 had me ROLLIN' in my own laughter tears
i love these vids!!!! keep it up!!

Now that's what I call a Reverse Stair stab
The only times I manage to trickstab is when I panic and have no idea what I'm doing.
1:45 WOW that knife is crazy 😍
This is the first person I've met who loves ultralill and tf2. Thank you, my purpose is fulfilled.
3:02 wait what? thats literally the order of my most played classes
jontohil2 when ever he needs to talk about fighting something from a distance as spy : *deep breath* SPY HAS A GUN
Trickstabs are definitely another possible mindgame tool for the Spy. They can get you kills, yes.... but they can also help in escapes. If a person expects a stairstab when you're running up an incline, like some stairs or a ramp, they'll often not follow and just wait for you to do it. If you don't do it, you can just continue on your way and leave them briefly dumbfounded.
Spy: demonight without a charge but he can one shot anyone
This video is awesomeness incarnate
Really good video, keep it up
I've been pretty sad and hearing your genuine joy at landing trick stabs brought a smile to my face. I appreciate your video thank you.
3:41 relatable streetcleaner kill
To add to the power fantasy being earned thing, this is part of why (for me) stabs feel better on Uncletopia or similar servers rather than casual. In casual mode it's pretty easy to find someone who you can get to let you set up the trickstab, normally you can decloak in broad daylight behind someone and they don't turn, etc. but on community servers where a lot of the players are 3000+ hours players, it's a pain in the ass to get 1 stab per life lol. So when you get that trickstab on someone who definitely knew it was a possibility, or you get a chainstab on the payload cart with the heavy/pyro combo who turns 360 degrees each second, or the stab on an engineer hiding in an impossible spot, it feels way better (to me at least).
This is not meant to be a "community servers are better than casual" thing btw, I'm just saying it feels better when you pull off some shit against someone you know has countered that exact same thing 100 times before vs. pulling it off against someone who's not really trying to stop it
"Be polite" says the guy that taunt after the kill only to be instantly killed. Me: "Seems abour right!"
First video I see of you and I already love this channel
This sound track slapps
As always, amazing video! I really hope TH-cam pushes out your videos even more
*sniff* *sniff*
is that…
DEATH ODYSSEY FROM THE HIT STEAM GAME ULTRAKILL?
love the ultrakill music
thanks for the ultrakill background music
Great video, well edited and well said. I will now go fail to play spy in casual while dying to random crit melees
i love random crits random crits are great i love them they are so much fun they make the game so much more fun i love dying instantly to some guy who ran at me maybe i should do that more rather than backstab why do i backstab why do i backstab why do i backstab why do i backstab
Spy stuck in a corner with a heavy staring him down.
"Some heavy mains might disagree with me"
Lazy having a mental breakdown in the background: HE JUST WON'T DIE!!
The double coin shot was damn smooth.
6:47 evil laugh. All jokes aside, very entertaining video, trickstabs are indeed awesome.
4:17 Le Slappity SLAPPED.
3:04
About this specifically, I've noticed that due to playing Spy, I've gotten better at subconsciously recognizing the FOV of enemies. There's this sort of range I know to stay out of to not catch their attention and stay out of sight.
got recommended this. It’s a sub from me!
Nicest video yet!
"be polite"
*Immediately shows a clip of him getting a backstab and doing the laughing taunt*
Great thing about trickstabs as well. Makes them a bit more reluctant to pursue you. For example, I can not trickstab at all. However, because players avoid following me around corners or wait, it gives me enough time to escape.
mmm this gives me a video idea
i think i'll name it "how to handle that high level kunai dead ringer spy that only disguises as scout but somehow still dominates your team by just pressing your class switch keybind and then press 3"
I was expecting “And then you cry… of laughter”
Underrated youtuber, great vids
Bro this guy is so underrated
Great video dude!
I got my first trick stab the other day after hundreds of hours of playing Medic and I've been grinding Spy ever since. Been using the DR and the Big Earner so I can be a speedy bastard
When I get quote to quote "trickstab" i just laught when I see the animation in front of me ( witch is why I started maining Pyro in the fisrt place)
It’s so frustrating getting trick stabbed as a spy while playing medic. My crossbow is so clunky to hit them with, and oftentimes I have no choice to to melee and hope for the best. And then I get stabbed in the clavicle and somehow that counts as my “back”.
Completely underrated TFtuber. Also love the RoR Soundtrack
It's all laughter until a pyro who uses the m2 appears
5:46 - 5:58 VERY IMPORTANT LESSON FOR FUTURE SPY MAINS
spy is literally a sneaky glass cannon
honestly it’s because the feeling of out smarting an opponent than just going behind someone and pressing M1
my first trrickstab was when I ran Spy for real for the first time, I was on CtI Doublecross, and there was a MASSIVE sentry nest at their Intel, I managed to trickstab an Engi who was actively hunting me, best part, it was a facestab lmao
That power fantasy part really hit me
I was beyond myself when i bought a peugeot (a 306 with rustholes in both rear wheelhouses) with my own money
One of my friends never even drove the $3.5 mil car his dad just gave him.
I’ve only ever pulled off one trick stab before and it was without question a beginner’s luck moment.
Oh my god its ship of fools (the song that starts at the skill section)
The SPY HAS A GUN got me in the ground dying of laughter
Here's how I've always countered trick stabbers. . . just hold still or walk away. If a spy holds still waiting for you, just don't get close. If he goes for a stare stab, just don't go near him. It's so funny holding still and watching a spy jump around the corner to stab you. . . only for you to be a mile away
My first trick stab was accidentally on a charging demoman
Trickstabbing tip: ss-ss-sssPY HAS A GUN!
I named my revolver The Trickstab.
Becuase the trick is, I have a gun.
some of the trickstabs i've done are just ridiculous... Back in my day, when i was still an active spy-main... i did a version of the matador, that was so compressed, it looked like i was just doing a little dance in font of them, that made them die from cringe. xD
moving side-to-side with A and D (in really short bursts that shouldn't realistically allow a matador) kinda glitches out hitboxes via interpolation, which is exacerbated by even normal ping levels, and just, gives you a free facestab. It doesn't work every time, but it works like 25% of the time, it's hilarious.
of course, that was years ago, dunno if that got patched out at some point.
this reminds me of when in halo reach sometimes i would jump over someone quickly turn around then assassinate them
"We looked you In the eye before we stabbed you in the back!"
-Elderly Goblin Crash Royal
Wow… I always wondered if it was feasible to matador a charging demo… now I know
this video was fucking amazing
Im bad at trickstab decent at spy but sometimes i get the most epic trickstab seen by humanity and the die the most stupid way possible or just killbind
lmao the starting clip is litteraly the same thing happened in the last game I played, with the exact same message (but replace demo with pyro)
Tip 1 made me cry
The only time I’ve done one was a matador on an overly aggressive scout
Nice video
Extremely underrated creator. Can wait to see his sub count go higher than MrBeast
If i had a dollar for every time i hear this dude say spy has a gun i could get a burning flames team captain
you need more subs
I was playing spy on degroot keep and everyine was either demo or sniper. A demoknight killed me and taunted on me, saw me get out of dead rang, hunte me down and i cornerstabbed him. He called me a slur and left
YES ULTRAKILL YEAAAAAHHHH YES
2:48 KILLED ME LMAO
loved the vid, keep it up
sometimes i get lucky and i can do 3-5 trickstabs in a row
0:08 Yes
One thing that has happened to me: playing 120fps and 5 hours on spy, trickstabs medic, but on 60fps recerd it was: walking in straight line for medic. Next frame: medic ded
Nice video as always also what was that game with the coin flip
this video is foking gold
