a tip on how to "counter" trick stabs, mainly the metador one... just stand still and watch them try to trickstab you while you unload in their face :D

Ok, I know it’s not related to the topic of the vid, but the music choice here is amazing. Doom, Risk of Rain, Jojo, and ULTRAKILL? That’s quite the lineup of music.
"Be polite" is certainly a missing strategy point in some TF2 players. Doing what the class is supposed to do the isn't really something to brag about. Of course, playing a class masterfully is not something anyone can do, but keeping things polite will avoid becoming a target. Players will go out of their way just to deal with you and you'll have a harder time playing your class. Besides, it's much more impressive seeing someone cleaning house and just being in awe on how good they play. People will want you on their team rather than having another try hard.
@@sonder_1620 Agreed, while some may argue that trash talking is part of the gameplay experience people forget it paints a target on your back, and you can't always play flawlessly. Politeness and ace plays makes you a legend, bantering just makes you another grunt.
hey really nice video man! spy is one of my fav classes and altho i only get a trickstab once in a blue moon and then get confused on how i did it, it truelly is the best feeling in the world. as a soldier main i would describe it like gettin a market garden. very good video, the animation is good and polished, the jokes are funny and the editing is pretty good. hope to see what you have next, you definitely earned my sub! 😁
While I'd say trickstabs are much more about mind games and market gardening is more about movement, they are very comparable and rather satisfying to pull off for similar reasons. Plus just like with trickstabs, they're not always optimal, but they're fun all Hell to do anyway.
If I get a penny everytime I pull a trickstab on a demoknight and they leave the game, I'd have 2 pennies, which is not much but it's funny when it happens.
If I had a penny for every trickstab I have done I would have 2 pennies, just enough to triple my damage by throwing said pennies into the air and shooting them with my revolver
What's funny is that yesterday I just pulled off my first trickstab chain in the last point of Upward with the Kunai and I couldn't help but taunt at the end of it. You feel like the coolest kid in the room.
Spy stuck in a corner with a heavy staring him down. "Some heavy mains might disagree with me" Lazy having a mental breakdown in the background: HE JUST WON'T DIE!!
Trickstabs are definitely another possible mindgame tool for the Spy. They can get you kills, yes.... but they can also help in escapes. If a person expects a stairstab when you're running up an incline, like some stairs or a ramp, they'll often not follow and just wait for you to do it. If you don't do it, you can just continue on your way and leave them briefly dumbfounded.
3:04 About this specifically, I've noticed that due to playing Spy, I've gotten better at subconsciously recognizing the FOV of enemies. There's this sort of range I know to stay out of to not catch their attention and stay out of sight.
To add to the power fantasy being earned thing, this is part of why (for me) stabs feel better on Uncletopia or similar servers rather than casual. In casual mode it's pretty easy to find someone who you can get to let you set up the trickstab, normally you can decloak in broad daylight behind someone and they don't turn, etc. but on community servers where a lot of the players are 3000+ hours players, it's a pain in the ass to get 1 stab per life lol. So when you get that trickstab on someone who definitely knew it was a possibility, or you get a chainstab on the payload cart with the heavy/pyro combo who turns 360 degrees each second, or the stab on an engineer hiding in an impossible spot, it feels way better (to me at least). This is not meant to be a "community servers are better than casual" thing btw, I'm just saying it feels better when you pull off some shit against someone you know has countered that exact same thing 100 times before vs. pulling it off against someone who's not really trying to stop it
i love random crits random crits are great i love them they are so much fun they make the game so much more fun i love dying instantly to some guy who ran at me maybe i should do that more rather than backstab why do i backstab why do i backstab why do i backstab why do i backstab
Trickstabs are cool. Lag getting me trickstabbed is much less cool. A kunai spy walking backwards 1 foot directly in front of me "backstabbing" me is cancerous.
trickstabs are awesome becuase i have a butterfly knife irl and I can do two things, and two things only: Open the knife, and do that think where spy flips it around and its in the backstab pose.

mmm this gives me a video idea i think i'll name it "how to handle that high level kunai dead ringer spy that only disguises as scout but somehow still dominates your team by just pressing your class switch keybind and then press 3"
Great thing about trickstabs as well. Makes them a bit more reluctant to pursue you. For example, I can not trickstab at all. However, because players avoid following me around corners or wait, it gives me enough time to escape.
I got my first trick stab the other day after hundreds of hours of playing Medic and I've been grinding Spy ever since. Been using the DR and the Big Earner so I can be a speedy bastard
i had this epic trickstab once in the beginning of my spy career i was running up the stair to avoid a pyro and i just say "fuck it" and jump around, somehow stabbing him. he was not happy.
Here's how I've always countered trick stabbers. . . just hold still or walk away. If a spy holds still waiting for you, just don't get close. If he goes for a stare stab, just don't go near him. It's so funny holding still and watching a spy jump around the corner to stab you. . . only for you to be a mile away

Correction. Most classes can kill a spy with 2 melee hits. The ubersaw, a class of its own kills spies with one.
only when the spy isn't kunai over healed.
also spy can kill most classes with two diamondback crits before they even get into melee range.
As a spy and medic with similar play hours of 2 class, ubersaw will always land atleast 1 crit no matter what
