Into the Storm

The second piece I wrote for @ComposersOrchestra (back over lockdown) has made it out of the drawer and onto the stage. Full of scales, hammering piano, and two people trying to sound like heavy brass.
Program Note:
‘We set off right into the storm. The rain clashing down on us. The wrath of the waves, the thunder in the clouds daring us to take one more step. We do not seem to mind it. All we know is the way leads forward. Perhaps we do mind it. Perhaps we want it this way and no other. The way into adventure. I will not say who we are. This story is the piece’s to tell. And it might well tell a different story to you than it told to me. I wrote it three years ago, in the early months of lockdown, imagining a different world with a different Composers’ Orchestra. We have come a long way since. Always forward: and right into the storm.’
