  • We resurrect a 1978 Oldsmobile that was almost completely buried in the woods. This one required some intense cleaning but cleaned up to reveal a nice driver. Watch to see the transformation take place!

      That's cool! Hopefully you will come across one in better shape than this one was when we got it. It ended up going to a guy in Kentucky the last we heard.

    This car is it's day when it was new was a very fine upper middle class luxury GM car. Top of the line in Oldsmobile along with the Toronado. I'm happy to see " youngsters " with this old car taking the interest in fixing it up.

      It was a bummer the previous owner left it in this state, we tried our best to get it cleaned and have another chance at life.

      That’s awesome, we don’t see many Oldsmobiles out and about any more around where we are. They are a unique car.

      I got news for ya, we don't see many Of them around NY anymore either. I had many. I had a 77 98. A 87 Custom Cruiser that had 270,000 mi. And I also currently have a 84 98. I never had a problem with any of them.
      Good Luck enjoy your 98.

    Dear Brittany and Daniel,
    After you collected this Oldsmobile and since Daniel made the car running and Brittany gave this car a deep cleaning , the car doesn’t look too bad at all. When the body is hard everywhere it might be not a bad idea to wrap the car in a never produced color with this cars and fix the interior some better plus changing the exhaust might make this car the one of its kind what makes the car exclusive so it might bring you more money than ever expected. May God bless you and also on behalf of WIlleke I send you love from the Netherlands

    • @ResurrectedGarage

      Thanks, it came out a lot better than expected. You don’t see a lot of the 70’s era four doors left anymore and they are starting to peak people’s interest again. Most people saved the two doors and crushed the bigger luxury cars or left them out in the woods to rot. Daniel has had pretty good luck getting cars going again.

    As you began moving the 98 around, the noise it made reminded me of Christine when Arnie first got her. How funny.

    My first car was a 78 Olds 98. It was a hand me down that my parents bought in 1980 for $10,500 cash

    Just out of curiosity I was to have a quality rebuild/replacement done of the mechanical parts (brakes, powertrain, etc) for something like this how much does that usually run in your experience? I was thinking of eventually (next year or two) getting one of these and having it restored to mechanically be as good as new for a daily driver/road trip car but I'm not sure how much the cost would end up for such a project.

    • @ResurrectedGarage
      @ResurrectedGarage  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The fuel system and the brakes would probably be 1500-2500, depending on how much had to be replaced. Most of the stuff we build - that's where the problems are. Belts, hoses, tune up stuff you'd probably have somewhere around 500-800. We try to stay away from cars that need major motor or transmission work because of time and cost. That can get pretty expensive. If you can do the labor yourself, then you can eliminate 50-75% of those expenses.

      @@ResurrectedGarage Wow, that's pretty good. Last time I had an older car (wasn't quite this old though) it also had issues with the suspension, but mostly with bad replacement parts. Water pumps, EGR valves, most of them were junk. How do you avoid that?

      This is the first vinyl top we’ve came across that was not rusted completely underneath, mainly because most of it was missing. We have a thunderbird that has a vinyl top and it’s rust hole city underneath. The vinyl that’s left in the pillars on the Olds has started to rust out around the windshield. That’s why I wanted to get it all off, vacuum out the dirt and grime to hopefully stop it from rusting more. The dirt is holding the moisture in between the layers.

    Why waste your money?

    • @ResurrectedGarage
      @ResurrectedGarage  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We didn't; we were happy with the profit that we made when sold the car. We also ended up meeting several different people from Kentucky and Indiana that have became some of our close friends that we wouldn't have met if we hadn't pulled this car out of the woods. It's not always about the money - sometimes there are connections that are made that money couldn't have bought.
