      He's seems average, unlike Buck, Hercules foster father doesn't seem embarrassed by him when he cause trouble by mistake and actually defended him because he's just a kid and didn't mean, and then let him go on a quest to to find himself all on his own, sure he's more than capable of defending himself but letting your 16 year old go by himself isn't that great, not to mention he also let him go on to train for 2 years, although Hercules does care a lot about his foster father that he gave him money after Hercules became rich and famous.

    arguably, Bambi's dad is more in the gray area; his absence is due to work, of which is constantly reminded of during the movie that he, the lead buck has responsibilities he has to uphold. And he wasn't just trying to pun off Bambi and make him another deer/doe's problem, when given the responsibilities he has and coupled with the fact that he, as a stag, had very little experience in raising kids, it's an understandable move for him to try to find a caretaker that better understands how to care for children. And yes, how he handled the situation regarding the death of Bambi's mom is wrong in its own way, you can't deny the fact that he was going through it too. People handle the death of loved ones differently, and Bambi's dad is shown to be no exception to this fact, and we see him handle this in a way a lot of men would handle it. He didn't wish to talk about her at times because he was still having to except her passing. He went off to be by himself alone in the rainstorm, essentially to cry by himself and debate his next move regarding Bambi's care given how Bambi had come to accept his mom's passing when he, the dad, still had some resentments. And arguably speaking, he did show that he cared for Bambi more than he spoke of, and wanted what he believed to be what was best for his son.

      I know there are guys who abandon children, don't acknowledge them, are absent, abusers and such, I wasn't born yesterday. Bad fathers gotta be called out, but what about bad mothers? I know they're a minority, but there's a double standard there. Every year is the same, kids with bad fathers are praised for standing up, while kids with bad mothers are told to shut up and while I know there IS a significant difference in the bad, and the double standard is almos justified, I just would like people to talk about the good ones, because then, dads are going to take it upon themselves to be the example, like mine did.

    Needless to say, Judge Frollo went straight to Hell when he died for disobeying God's word.
    1. Frollo disobeyed the 6th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill", by killing Gypsies left and right, as well as Quasimodo's mother.
    2. Frollo completely disregarded Leviticus 19:18, "Love your neighbor as yourself", because he hated gypsies.

Still it struck me as kinda weird that he never got grounded (atleast that we knew of) especially by chichi.

      Tui is bashed for his understandable PTSD...despite constantly affirming Moana’s other abilities and clearly adoring her and being proud of her...but Triton gets a pass for repeatedly shouting at his daughter and his own prejudice (that is only expanded in a direct to video DECADES later) and Literally Destroying Her Things?!

    Simba himself tried to be a good dad to his children: he does his best to keep his daughter Kiara safe from danger and teach her what his father did about the circle of life, and supported his son Kion of being a great and well-mannered leader of team of animals, The Lion Guard. The only downsides are that because he thought Kovu betrayed him by leading him into an ambush he let his hatred of the remaining reminiscences of Mufasa's murderer Scar get the better of him, ignored Kiara's pleas to listen and exiled him from the Pridelands, and even labeled Kovu as just another variant of Scar. He does realize his mistake and welcomes him and the outsiders back in the end though.

      John Santos She constantly disobeyed/ignored her parents, unlike Simba who only did this once and was partially manipulated into doing so. She is very disrespectful and is always whining about her parents rules. Sure, Simba is slightly overprotective, but most of his rules about the outsiders actually make sense. In a human society all of them would be in prison. So Simba not wanting his daughter to hang out with murderous criminal is actually pretty logical. Kiara of course ignores this because she’s “in love”. And selfishly tries to get her BF who was groomed from childhood to murder her father to come into their home. And Simba is actually kind enough to give him a chance, and all this somehow makes Simba is the bad guy?! No Kiara was a horrible daughter, friend and person, she is supremely self-serving and thinks with her emotions as opposed to using her brain. In all honesty Kiara may just be the single most infuriating character in the entire franchise.

      And ironicly is... the DISNEY version is much worse then the source material.
      In the original Victor Hugo novel, Frollo isn't nearly as evil as in the film. On the contrary, the novel depicts Frollo willingly adopting Quasimodo out of genuine mercy after his parents abandoned him. He is even caring towards his foster son until Esmeralda comes on, leading Frollo's lust and obsession over her to begin his slow descent into villainy.
      So maybe still a villain in the end, but a far cry from the monster we got in the movie

    I have mixed feelings of Gepetto. Sure, he might be a devoted father at first, and he goes looking for Pinocchio after he's lost. But at Pinocchio's first day at school, why does Gepetto send Pinocchio to school alone, instead of going with him? On the *first* day! Especially when Pinochhio doesn't yet understand how to world works, and ends up falling for Honest John's bait.

    • @seanmyster6
      @seanmyster6 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      That is odd, now that you mention it. While it's true that in generations past, parents were more willing to let their kids wander around town on their own, you'd think that they'd at least accompany them on their first day of school, if only to make sure they knew where the place was.

    • @sapphirewriter8349
      @sapphirewriter8349 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      I can tell you why because back in those days you never heard of kids getting kidnapped or anything. My family back in the 60s and 70s said they were aloud to run off and even stay late night because kids just going missing was pretty much unheard of. Well true kids did get kidnapped back then, it's not as common place back then as it is today. Pinocchio was made back when stuff like pedophiles and greedy kidnappers weren't common ground and the movie is set in a fairytale place. So Gepetto probably assumed since they lived in a relatively safe place that Pinocchio would be safe and the writers thought he was a good father despite assuming that because of the time period at the time.

    I would say that Mr. Incredible is mostly a good dad, despite that whole plot point about his "new job" in the first movie and despite the fact that he initially didn't think that his wife could take over as a Super defending the city as Elasti-Girl in the sequel. In the first one, you could see that he wanted Dash to pursue what he loved (sports), but it took that second movie for him to realize just how difficult parenting is. It was the "Now, I get it" moment. Despite having super strength, he realized that that it was really difficult raising rambunctious kids at the same time.

    Hiram Flaversham (The Great Mouse Detective) is a toy maker and presumably a widowed father, but he is shown to be very caring and loving from the start. Even being dubbed "the most wonderful father in the whole world" by his only daughter Olivia after gifting her a toy for her birthday that he'd made himself. Hiram hides Olivia in a cupboard to protect her from an intruder, that being Fidget, which ultimately results in his own abduction as he cries out for her. Under the captivity of Ratigan and forced to build a robot to help the evil professor become king of England, Hiram stands up to Ratigan and tries to defy him, but later gives in only after Ratigan gives an ultimatum of having Olivia being brought to his lair as well, effectively putting the well-being of his daughter above himself a second time in the film. Later on when father and daughter reunite, they hug each other closely. They clearly have a strong relationship with virtually no real flaws, Hiram loves his only child very much, and he has proven that he will sacrifice himself for her without hesitation. Hiram is definitely one of the good Disney fathers.

    Actually, I don't think Perdita was a good enough candidate. If anything she would most likely be on the Good Neutral side. Sure she save her puppies from a fur-crazed psychopath, but it was mostly because Pongo was there. Pongo was the one who called most of the shots, he was the more decisive one, the adept problem solver and the more determined one, he was the one that kept encouraging his mate and his family to press on, and had to put Perdita in the situations for her to actually take action. She was the yin to Pongo's yang. If anything Pongo deserves to be on the best Disney dads list if this channel decides to make one for Father's Day.

    I honest to god thought Buck Cluck would be the silver medal, but I forgot about Pete weirdly enough. Though I feel like Buck left a much bigger impact in terms of how scummy he was as a father compared to Pete. Maybe it's because he was so ashamed of his son to the point he didn't want his son to attract any attention whatsoever until he played baseball, and even then, it wasn't until Chicken Little won the game that his father actually felt proud of him, so it really left a bad taste in my mouth. To be fair though, being eager to replace your son's bedroom when he gets older and acting as a drill sergeant more than a father doesn't really do Pete any favors either. Pete's pretty bad, I won't deny that, but good lord did Buck Cluck just seems overall more scummy to me.

    I actually disagree with the king Trident position he should have been in the Gray area in my opinion. yes he changed his ways in the end but that whole scene of him destroying aerials possessions is a massive Display of abuse. It's basically him showing I can break your things and I can break you. Also in the prequel It was seen that he expects his children to constantly be under his control and yet barely spent any time with them. He would only spend their morning walk together which lasted I think maybe 5 minutes and then would come in to say goodnight to them when they went to bed. Definitely not one of the worst fathers but not one of the good fathers either.

    I wouldn't say Kerchak is a bad father. Yes he's been mean to his adopted son Tarzan and eas never willing to accept him as son, but before he lost his true biological son due to Sabor he was a loving and caring father. So he's more of a grey zone.

    “Not out of the goodness of his heart, of course, but out of fear of eternal damnation for killing the child’s mother and attempting to drown the disfigured child.”
    Well, that’s only the case with the film version. While the Disney movie counterpart of Frollo adopted Quasimodo because he was afraid of going to Hell, the novel version did adopt Quasimodo out of the goodness of his heart.

    What about Atlantis? Treasure planet? I think captain silver deserves a spot on here since even though he isn't a father, he's the closest thing Jim has to a father. He of course wouldn't rank too terribly high but he gave up his life long goal to save Jim which has to count for something

    It wasn't a cherry blossom, it was a magnolia. He mentioned "The mulan tree" Mulan is the Chinese word for magnolia. It literally translates as "wood orchid". As for the Sultan, it's possible that every time he thought of changing the law Jafar would hypnotize him to forget it. It is giving him the benefit of the doubt, I'll admit.

    I feel that King Triton should have been played by James Avery, aka "Uncle Phil" from "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". I felt that he would have really done a good job at bringing out King Triton's angry side in the movie because he had so many scary moments as "Uncle Phil" on the show.

    In "Extremely Goofy Movie", I don't see Pete as evil... Just that he wants to move onto the next phase of his life. He raised PJ (Although not a perfect Dad, but that's where Peg comes in.) and now he wants PJ to start his own life, so that he can enjoy his twilight years with his wife. His and Goofy's way of dealing with the kids leaving are both perfectly natural and neither are evil. Although he is far more milder than in the movies, and actually gives good advice to Goofy to fix his relationship with Max. (Unlike his previous time in Goofy Movie)
    So I don't slam Pete in the matter of wanting PJ to leave home. It's perfectly natural for parents to want their kids out of the house when they come of age.

    Belle's dad goes looking for help and the people of the town mock him and Gaston uses him. He also needed help from the Beast and was locked up. Him being used doesn't make him a bad dad. He encourages Belle to be herself regardless of what people think, he is open minded. He is kinda useless, but he always tries and it is not his fault that the only people he can ask for help are awful. In my opinion, he should be better than Triton who deliberately tries to control Ariel because of his fears. (Although I do love Triton)

    I don't think Buck is such a bad father, he wants to see his son well, he just thinks the best thing for Little is tries not to attract attention, because he knows that this will give the rest of the city a chance to humiliate them again. When he is happy for the baseball game it is more because he believes that now the rest of the city will finally forgive his son's mistakes and allow them both to move on.

    Does Donald from Ducktales 2017 count? I know he's the triplets' uncle, but he did raise them from when they hatched and put his all into doing so. He went to anger management sessions, worked a bunch of jobs to support them and is fiercely protective of them while learning to back away a bit during the course of the series.
