Silco is the best villian/antagonist, because he is so human and relatable. Was he generally a terrible person who was using terror and drugs to reign over a city and profit? Yes. Is he a man with a vision for a greater future for his people and the hardships they face daily? Also yes. But when he shows us that he loves Jinx and and that he would never abandon her you can really relate. When he went to Vander's statue/monument and "shared" a drink with him, and asked him for parenting advise... I just had to sit back in awe of how complex a character he is.
This. I keep seeing two opinions regarding Silco, one sees his genuine love for Jinx as a redeeming factor to what would otherwise be an evil man, or that he is evil reincarnate, disregarding any humanity he showed, where in truth he is neither. Arcane did a great job telling a story about humans, who at their core, are too complex to sort into distinct categories and would actually be an injustice to the writers who worked so hard to create such beautiful multi-dimensional characters.
I think none of us were ready for how good this show was gonna be, Riot didn't cheap out on anything and this song is a great example of this, great cover!
That's what happens when they keep loose with the source material, videogame adaptations are sometimes way too constrained by what the game had set out before them. But LoL had more than enough wiggle room for the writers to do as they pleased
@@EpicoMarko yeahh makes perfect sense A lot of game or even theme ride movies/shows try to highlight specifics from the Source game and try to shove it down the viewers throat and get a cheer probably! But fail to realise that it's the story and the Concept that the fans loved
I love how Jinx has Violet(or pink whatever you call it) eyes and Vi having Blue eyes(which resonates Powder). It's kind of like they have parts of them in each other Like Jinx has eyes of past of violence, the explosion that killed everyone, the madness Vi has the eyes of past Powder, the innocence, peacefulness, (which is what Vi wants for Powder)
And it's also like they're opposites but still the same of each other. Like, they've always been opposites, since the start, but now in a different way. Jinx can only care about violence and how the world seems to be against her, like Vi used to do in the past, and Vi just wants to be near her sister and have a family to call her own, like Powder. Also Jinx have blue hair and pink eyes, and Vi have oink hair and blue eyes, another point that shows that they're opposites. But when you stop and notice that now Jinx is like past Vi, and Vi is like past Jinx/Powder, you see that the story repeats itself, but in a different way.
I broke my heart when Vi hit Powder. I've felt that and it was so fucking raw. The voice work on both characters was BEYOND stellar. The way Powder breaks down when she realizes what she's done absolutely SHATTERED me.
Watch it for the second time. I did, it was a different experience, but not for worse, I noticed several things I missed the first time, and it made me appreciate the show even more. As if that was possible. Well, it was. I think I will give it a third run sooner or later as well. And damn, I almost never do such things.
I just imagine Samuel creating these covers while silently sobbing....because I almost am crying listening to this and remembering all the pain and tragedy that is in the show and in this song alone :'(
Probably the most powerful ending of an episode since Game of Thrones' Red Wedding. Shed a couple tears and this song made the moment twice as powerful

Seriously, I love listening so much "Goodbye" is the most emotionally sad song on Arcane (2021 -), and this cover is so much better than the last one. Because Aloma Steele's voice and singing breaks my heart.

Vi turned towards the ecstatic young girl, her eyes shutting and opening wide simultaneously as if trying to wake from a horrible nightmare. "You did this?" she said in a voice barely a whisper. "Why? Why did you do this?" Powder frowned in confusion. What was going on? Shouldn't her sister be proud; telling her how they never would have made it out without her? Then she followed Vi's gaze, and saw the blood-splattered goggles amidst the rubble. Claggor's goggles. She blinked, gasping in sudden fear. No. That wasn't her. She wouldn't. "I was saving you," Powder replied, drawing in on herself, her voice becoming small. "I only wanted to help," she choked with fear and dread as her older sister advanced on her in a threatening manner. "I only wanted to help, I only wanted to help! Please Vi-" Her vision went white for a moment, and her cheek stung painfully. It took Powder a moment to realize that Vi had punched her, causing her to crumple to her knees on the soot-covered ground. She stared numbly ahead, touching her cheek. "I told you to stay away!" Vi shouted, and Powder shrank from her sister's wrath. "I told you!" "Why did you leave me?!" Powder screamed, her voice cracking with emotion, her tears mixing with the spattering rain. She grabbed Powder's chin so she was looking directly into her eyes, and Powder quivered in terror. "Because you're a jinx," Vi growled in response. "Mylo was right!" She could see unfathomable pain in Vi's dark eyes, along with a simmering rage that terrified her. Her sister never hurt her; she was her friend. Her family. Vi's lips pulled back in a grimace, and Powder flinched as it seemed her sister would hit her again. Vi released Powder from her tight grip, so she dropped to the ground, folding in on herself. Through her tears Powder saw the blurry shape of her sister begin to slowly walk away into the darkened alley street. "Please Violet!" Powder screamed, sobbing. "Don't leave me! Please, please..." Her sister didn't glance back at Powder's pleas, and soon she disappeared into the darkened street. Powder screamed herself ragged, her body shaking violently as tears streaked her face. She screamed for Violet, for her family, for the world that was cruel enough to abandon her in her utmost time of need. She lay there in a puddle of her own misery for what seemed like days, even years. She kept seeing her sister with that look of absolute hatred and disgust, her gloves stained with Powder's blood. She was all alone now; no one to pick her up and tell her that it was all just a big mistake. Then she heard the distinct sound of hesitant footsteps. She looked up and saw a pair of polished black boots in front of her, stopped just before her face. A man peered down at her, a predatory expression on his countenance. It would have seemed welcoming, if not for the jagged scar and black eye on the left side of his face. "Hello, little girl," he said in a warm voice."Where is your sister?" A strange, violent emotion bubbled within Powder when he mentioned Vi, and she lunged at him with a yell. Her anger almost immediately turned to immeasurable sadness, and she sobbed into his gold-trimmed vest. "She is not my sister! She left me." She embraced him tightly, just glad for someone to hold on to. After a long moment, she felt a pair of strong arms hugging her back. It felt foreign, yet somehow deeply comforting at the same time. "It's okay," he whispered fiercely. "We will show them. We will show them all."

Coz somehow Vander's death or her parents' death didn't affect Powder as much as Vi leaving her. I remember deaths didn't affect me too much when I was a kid...not as much as they affect me now. I dunno what it is, like maybe it's because kids can't relate to adults and adults dying isn't thought of as too tragic...

Everything in Arcane reminds me of this conversation in "The Witcher" when a character (I actually don't remember which one) is speaking to Geralt about the lesser evil Perhaps not everything in Arcane is the lesser evil, but a lot of things are and it's incredible

So, small story. The timing of when I heard this song was impeccable. By the time I heard this track, it had only been 2 days since I just put down one of my two cats, and the other cat was put down only a month earlier. Let's just say, I did NOT make it through this track without nearly breaking out into tears, and sobbing like a child. I miss my boys, but this absolutely YANKS on my heart strings.
I am still in absolute disbelief that I get to hear Aloma, a singer I've loved an admired ever since I was a child, sing songs from a show that is as important to me as Arcane 😭
Just coming back from the new dev diary, this version of goodbye is better than the last one don't get me wrong I like sorah but the dev's emphasized they choose Ramsey for her almost vulnerable sounding voice giving the gut-punch of a feeling

I still remember watching this show and waiting for the rug pull, that Silco was only ever using Jinx, or at least was going to betray her. Right until the last breath though he confirmed he never would of done it. Why would he lie on his death dead? Because he didn't, he truly loved Jinx as a daughter in his own way.

Gave it a try myself yesterday because I was bored and I can tell you that it's insanely good 9.5/10 type of show. They worked 6 years on the serial, I watched it for animation cuz I don't play league so if u like me a sucker for good animation, u can give it a try

So, small story. The timing of when I heard this song was impeccable. By the time I heard this track, it had only been 2 days since I just put down one of my two cats, and the other cat was put down only a month earlier. Let's just say, I did NOT make it through this track without nearly breaking out into tears, and sobbing like a child. I miss my boys, but this absolutely YANKS on my heart strings.
Arcane is one of the best TV series ever made to date and music in it is just so impactful. 😢 💙

Just coming back from the new dev diary, this version of goodbye is better than the last one don't get me wrong I like sorah but the dev's emphasized they choose Ramsey for her almost vulnerable sounding voice giving the gut-punch of a feeling
It may be a goodbye but we always see them again in next life or after. This be perfect for star wars clone wars
I never expected to cry so early on in a show, but this scene was just so sad and so heavy, I loved it
There trajety is just so beyond words its too beautyfull. It feels so Human, so authentic, echos our reality.

I still remember watching this show and waiting for the rug pull, that Silco was only ever using Jinx, or at least was going to betray her. Right until the last breath though he confirmed he never would of done it. Why would he lie on his death dead?
Because he didn't, he truly loved Jinx as a daughter in his own way.

Gave it a try myself yesterday because I was bored and I can tell you that it's insanely good 9.5/10 type of show.
They worked 6 years on the serial, I watched it for animation cuz I don't play league so if u like me a sucker for good animation, u can give it a try
Watch it its worth it you dont need to know anything of league to understand the story
