It's nice to see such high standards of workmanship and precise, meticulously detailed craftsmanship. Your reworking of your trailer has given it a new lease of life and hugely improved it's appearance. Thank you for sharing.
Nicee tutorial video! Would you mind sharing what all was needed to add the support stands on the sides to prevent yout trailer from tipping over when moving things in an out?
where do you find the aluminum panels? A metal shop? I recently bought a small enclosed trailer and the front has no support behind it, I guess from all the years of people pushing on it while rolling by hand, has warped the metal. It looks terrible.
I got them from a semi trailer supplier called utility trailer I believe they are a national business but any semi trailer supply store would have them a lot of metal shops have them too but they were more expensive utility was the cheapest price I found when calling around
Where did you get the aluminum sheeting, I'm trying to find some and I checked with a trailer part supplier and they wanted $250 a sheet but I'm not sure what a good price is so am wondering.
I got mine at Utility Trailer and I paid around $110 a sheet for 5‘ x 10‘ but the price of all materials has skyrocketed since Covid not the best time to try and do a project like this good luck
Same place as the siding look in the comments it’s been a while but any heavy haul trailer supplier should have it I think I got mine from superstition trailer. It’s been a while since I did it
I can see why you might be concerned with that but with the 4 foot spacing I didn’t feel it was necessary and I’ve been running that trailer around constantly and haven’t had any problems with my siding so far
what abput load limit how much weight did you add before contents ? what load rating are the tires ? lt or commercial? AZ has perm tags did you need to have it recassified to covered custom trailer is that required?at which weight do myou think trailer breakes needed > sorry alot of questions just want to build a double axle trailer myself and brainstorming variables , landscape trailers are the lowest deck height /

@@toolsntruck941 honestly I am probably pushing the limits of the axle and tires because my razor is 3000 stock weight but I probably added at least 500 pounds to that razor between supplies and roll cage plus the weight of the trailer so it is probably pushing the 6000 pounds that it’s able to handle But I basically paid nothing for the trailer which is why I rolled with it I am looking to get a duel axle trailer for my Sandcar and razor when I need to haul them but it still works good for my garage for my rzr in the side yard plus I have a smaller Sandrail that the trailer will be perfect for
Hello, can you please tell me what kind of trailer that is? I have a three-axle trailer that looks the same, but I don’t see the nameplate or any info on what Mfg it is. I looked all over the internet and have not found any trailers with the same sloped front end or (bulkhead) as yours. I can you send pics of my trailer if need be. By the way, I have to replace the roof and sides also. I appreciate your help. Roger.
I am doing a the same project but I cant seem to find metal for the roof in once long piece like you did, where were you able to find that metal for your roof?
I got mine from a heavy truck and trailer supplier in Phoenix called utility trailerBut that’s what I would look for is a semi trailer dealer in your area
Hi Dan Very informative video. Question what brand of putty or similar to seal roof edges? I'm in central Penn, weather starting to get cool 45F nights and just after a couple light rains as I'm insulating with XPS extruded panels, I've found a interior drip line down the front inside panel, just I cant tell the source - thinking it's the roof old caulk line. My roof is all aluminum, two piece with rivets along each iron cross member. My single axel 5000 pounds rated 6x10 trailer with electric brakes and leaf springs is built with a combination of 1 inch and 2 inch square iron cross members throughout.. I''ve siliconed all the exterior gasket areas except for the roof..
I used CRL US aluminum silicone sealant professional quality cat.no.33S that is the product that the trailer supplier recommended that I bought the siding and the roofing material from and they rebuild and do siding on heavy haul trailers for a living. I would just make sure that it is a good quality product and that it remains flexible when it dries.
really nice man, so curious, why use the rivets, most commercial cargo trailer are bonded (screwless)... also, would you not require some sort of sealant between the panels and studs?
Thats the size I need i was curious if I could get away with single axle but if your putting the quad in it then I'm ok. Going to build from old boat trailer. Thx for the video
THE MAIN REASON IS BECAUSE OF HOW CHEAP I GOT THE TRAILER FOR PLUS IT HAD AN 8 FT WIDE AXLE WHICH GIVES ME ABOUT 7 1/2FT INSIDE INSTEAD OF THE USUAL 6-6 1/2FT FOR THAT SMALL OF TRAILER WHICH IS AWESOME FOR LOADING AND UNLOADING. THE REASON I DIDN'T MIND THE SINGLE AXLE IS BECAUSE THE RZR WEIGHS LESS THAN 2500LBS AND THE TRAILER IS PROBABLY 1500-2000LBS THE TRAILER HAS A 6000LB AXLE SO IT HANDLES THE WEIGHT FINE PLUS I HAVE 2 LESS TIRES TO HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT. GRANTED I DO USE A 3/4 TON TRUCK TO PULL IT BUT I HAVENT HAD ANY ISSUES YET A DUAL AXLE TRAILER WOULD BE MORE STABLE ON A LIGHTER DUTY TRUCK
I don’t remember the exact size but it was the bigger of the two sized panels that utility Trailer sold because it was more cost effective I think they were 5‘ x 10‘
Nice work! Good to see the family helping too.

Nice video and nice outcome. Well done to your helpers and video person.
Great video! On metals, I learned slow RPMs and oil are best and you won’t burn up bits. Heat is a killer to bits.
Rare activity to find on youtube thanks for uploading
Good video, thanks.
nice video, need this. thank you.

Nice work.. Where did you buy the large roll of roofing?

Did you let water run over it to check for leaks before insulating?
Good idea 👍 I did not but it’s rained a couple times and i did look inside after no water spots on the wood
Sweet
Nice job
Are there places in TX to have this done at ?
Dewalt 20v metal circ saw itl cut anything u put in front of it with ease almost hard on batteries on thicker stuff tho
Where did you get the full 1 piece roll aluminum for the roof?
That was a while ago, but it is in the comments towards the beginning when it was posted
But any heavy truck trailer supplier should have it
looks like your in the desert what rain? what about lateral bracing

Thank you DIY Dan this was my question too but you answered it here thank you so much.
What is that tape called? Tape instead of silicone! At 2:20
you have more rvets then a 1919 steam engine looks home made you could of used nice alumlnum corners edging etc
For anyone doing a similar job, go with closed end rivets instead.
Very nice work Dan. Thanks for sharing. Im an AZ native here in the Valley, which utility trailer truck supplier did you go to? -if you dont mind.
It’s called utility trailer they are at 83rd ave and I 10 roughly
Could of also got pneumatic or electric shears to cut all the aluminum . Great job though
I've been using those grinders for over 40 years I have never seen a wheel "explode"
On aluminum? I know they work fine on steel

I actually just realized I had a tube of that silicone left it’s made by CRL US aluminum silicone sealant professional quality cat.no.33S
You might want to keep few drills at hand - instead of having to change bits all the time.
Where you get your siding from
Is that butyl tape your using? I was told to use that by a supplier here in Michigan when replacing the diamond plate front.

Were did you purchase the roll for the roof? Did you do it 1 piece? Getting ready to redo my 7x12 with vnose

SORRY TO BUSY BUT THANKS FOR ASKING
How much did you pay for each panel and where? thanks
They were $98 each plus tax the roof was around $180
