Elusive Pimpernel with Aslam Kader up The Indian Turf Invitation Cup 1995

Elusive Pimpernel (Wattlefield-Right Step by Ilheus) as he crosses the finish line in solitary splendour in the 1995 Invitation Cup at Calcutta in record timing. The champ was trained by the legendary trainer Rashid Byramji and he was ridden here by Aslam Kader. The property of the late Deepak Khaitan won 22 times from 23 starts and was the first Indian horse to cross Rs. 1 Crore in stakes.
He was a successful sire despite limited opportunities getting classic winners Elusive Hero and Alterio. With just a handful of daughters at stud he is proving to be an all time great broodmare sire; Angel Dust, Optimus Prime and Ophion being notable progeny of his daughters.
