- Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's first 400m hurdles race since 2022 looked nothing like a rust-buster as she clocked a new world lead of 52.70 (!!!) at the 2024 American Track League's Edwin Moses Legends Meet.

This lady is not normal. Usually, world class athletes need a world class field to post super fast times. Sydney doesn't need such. She posts fast times because that's just who she is. Legend.
FEMKE BOL also dont need high level competition to perform. Toying with them last year. Glad that Sydney returns to 400mh so Femke finally can go 100% and catch Syd before the finish line in Femke's style!
"This lady is not normal." This made me chuckle, but you are 100% correct!
@@QuamfyMarc Femke went 100% several times just couldnt catch up with Sydney tbh. If there isnt any mistake by sydney, she definitely will take it again
Femke will “ catch “ what she always catches when she races Sydney and that’s an “ L “ !!

All that acne from doping wont help Femke Bol.
She's such a beast. I can't wait to see her in Paris this summer.
Me too. cant wait to see her and Bol against each other
Bol isnt even close to her. Sydeny may get another medal too in the 400m as well. @tomcatinaround
neither can Femke Bol
With her and Sha’Carri, I’ll be glued to the tv 😂
@@GaryStahlet We'll see in due time.
That's special, her and Edwin together. 💯

52.70 is a great time considering this was her first 400mh in about 2 years, so you know she had to knock off a little rust. She stutter stepped over a few hurdles and jogged especially the last 100m.
She didnt jog stop
@@tyrellreid3343 Nope, and she did not seem to be happy with her time when she looked at the clock just before the finishline....
@@johanhavelaar3698 She can't be. Bol is running 51 and change.
This is the most I've ever seen her stutter step.
@@davidailles4229Sydney just ran the fastest time in the world this year and it’s her first 400 M Hurdle in 2 years. So what 51s is Bol running? Is it in the 300 M hurdles? 😝
Chatting with Edwin Moses, the king of the 400 meter hurdles. He won 122 consecutive races, went undefeated for nine years and nine months. Won two Olympic golds, two world championships, and set multiple world records.
No one will ever win 122 consecutive races again. Goat...
Who broke his run ,was it Harris or Harold Schmitt l remember a race all 3 fighting down the home straight and moses came P2 or p3
@@redd605 I think it was Danny Harris finally who broke the streak but not sure. I t could have been the other American Andre Phillips in the 1988 Olympics.
@@redd605He lost to Harris. But then Edwin won 10 races in a row after the loss, including another world championship. Later, his last race of his career got him Bronze in the Seoul Olympics.
@@redd605 It was Harris, the race to which you refer came later (at the Rome World Championships) when Moses came back to defeat then both

The gap between her and the field is crazy
Most of the field hasn't run sub55 in recent years, so it would actually be crazier if they could keep up with Sydney ...
Maybe the rest of the field should train with Sydney..

Meeting all the Legends at the event was very amazing to witness from the trackside (I was a volunteer). These athletes ought to receive A LOT MORE Honor, Recognition, and Money!
I think that Sydney was trying to use her non-dominant leg to navigate the hurdles throughout most of this race, Her coach, Bob Kersee, has made her do this before in shorter hurdles races. Sets her up to be able to switch lead legs in her most competitive races using fewer steps between the hurdles. She did use her left leg on one of the hurdles and had to stutter step on others which makes sense given the task. Running this fast leading with her non-dominant leg is mind boggling!
I’ve been trying to tell people this. I literally told them Kearse is training her in the flat 400 for this purpose. She really wants to break 50 in the hurdles FIRST, then go after that 400 flat record. I said this as soon as she switched to Kearse!!
She only used her 'inside' leg as the lead over the 9th hurdle, and it looks like she might have slightly chopped a step on the backstraight. I can't remember which isher dominate leg, but she's got it down solid to use whatever leg feels more comfortable as she approaches a hurdle. Great race. looked like she got winded but not really straining at the finish.
Concur, on many of the hurdles she looked choppy, imagine her time if it was smoothed out. Looked like a training run. WOW
@@Anavllama Definitely looked like a practice run.
I don't know which leg is her preferred lead leg, but I'm thinking it's her right leg. She has her blocks set so that the left foot is forward; 22 steps later her right leg leads. In this race she's mostly going over with a right leg lead, except for the ninth hurdle. She was practicing something in this race, not pressing too hard. Referring back to the 2021 Olympic final and the 2022 World Championships final she does a lot of alternating, which is unusual but not unique. Bol alternates. Antyukh (2012) alternated.
Bobby Kersee said in a post race interview that he had her use 15 steps instead of her normal 14 and wanted her to be in the 52s. Then later said in response to another question, "with all due respect, this was a practice run"..... lol She is certainly something else. I can't wait for the Olympics.
"practice run" in 52.8! THAT would've been a world record not long ago. UNREAL

Sydney has been given the gift by God himself to run great distances for long periods of time. PLAN N SIMPLY!

Then god is biased and playing favorites
No god involved ❌
I'd think god should be more concerned about preventing children from being raped and murdered, than making people fast.

Femke Bol yesterday 52.49 and European Champion in Rome.
But Femke has also run at 51.45…..
As much as I love Femke Bol, if anyone honestly think she has a chance to beat Syndey in Paris you are mistaken. This woman beat the silver medalist from Tokyo in the 200m dash, and wond won a 100m sprint race. She is out of this world phenomenal.
that was a one off race let she go and beat shericka or Paulino
and Femke broke the world record in the indoor 400 flat.
If they go on 400 meters and 400 m/h It will be too many races in a short period of time and they will not have a full recovery. So they will have to choose.
@@richardsmith1161 Indoors! A race the top 400m specialists don't even participate in recently. Let's not pretend that Femke broke or can break, Richards-Ross' long-standing outdoor 400m world record. This vitriol is turning people who would ordinarily support Bol into anti-fans. When she wins against her uppermost competitors, then you can go around to her competitors comment sections to boast on her accomplishments.

I was there at the start line as a volunteer. The race was a casual jog in the park. Just a formality to get her qualifying time for USA Olympic trials.

Running a 400mH after almost 2 years.. And finishes with a pretty good WL ! She is an absolute beast. Waiting for Paris🎉
Great to see Sydney back :D This was a 15 stride warm up as opposed to her usual 14. Can’t wait to see her race Femke in the Olympics!
Light work for the young 🐐. It’s amazing that they had this meet at Morehouse. #HBCU

Her consistency and rhythm is epic, destroying the field like they never ran before. Even at the end it looked like a morning jog in the park.
Yesss. Very smooth and controlled! Definitely a practice run for her! 🔥💯✨
Actually it wasn't very smooth.
@@knowntobehonest I thought it was pretty smooth considering she really wasn't pushing it. Usually her 200 split is fast and it wasn't that fast in this 400 hurdle race. Yet.. without really trying she ran a males college time lol
@@lonestar2024 She stumbled at a few hurdles and at the last hurdle she needed to do an extra step. I do not know Sydney very well but she has shown she's very quick over 200 meter. But on a 400 you can't go flat out on the first half without paying the price on the second.
@knowntobehonest smh if you counted youd see she was doing 15 steps to each hurdle...so she was 100% training and going off foot on purpose...
she is definitely unrivaled

Sydney is totally in control of her race and she's beat a good field here and I take nothing away from them because they've run a reasonable race but here she is on another level. yet so unassuming, and THAT in my opinion is what makes her a GREAT champion and even greater person.
She’s literally jogging. 😍😍😍
Why do you all make these dumb comments. She is not jogging 🤣🤣🤣
Thats her thing, she doesn't LOOK fast but boy o boy! Look at her 200m sprint, she appears to be straining and then she does it in the lower 22's!

Making a rivalry outa Bol is hilarious. There is no rivalry just Sydney
Right! These ignorant Bol fans want to create a rivalry where there is none------There is Sydney at the top, then the rest----No competition here.

Extraordinary athlete, amazing lady. 💯
This is the purest example of being the class of the field you will ever see.
Generational Talent thats what one looks like
I just looked up the Jr College record in this event in 1973. I ran this same time but in yards. Which is longer than 400. Meters. I ran same time which means I passed 400meter at about 52. 5.
Interesting thing is I ran it in a Tri meet LA City College against to other schools. At the 7th hurdle the hurdler next to my lane hit his hurdle that landed in my lane so I had to figure out how not to hit that hurdle, still go over mine and turns out I took 2nd to that guy and 1st against the 2nd school. I was so mad that I had to avoid someone else’s hurdle that I caught an unexpected surge in the straight away and our best hurdler didn’t believe I passed him up as well.
I suffered from asthma during that time but didn’t know what I needed to help my breathing affliction so I decided no more running and pursued Bodybuilding. But I wish I knew that the medicine Albuterol spray clears lungs and I would have loved to run in the State finals. The runner who hit that hurdle in my meet , I believe won the State Jr College 440 yard hurdles in 50.9 seconds.
A yard is 91.44 centimeters, or 0.9144 meters
It’s going to be a great race with Cindy and Femke, they both are insanely fast.
both insanely fast?? 😅😅-----Sydney is insanely fast---Bol is ok, but I wouldn't use the term insanely fast for her.
She is poetry on the durn track!!!
She is awesome!!
Girl, you did that😊!!!
This is fabulous
2:31 looks like she beat the time they gave her
She definitely gonna break that record again
Very professional !
Love track and field 😂😊😅
Sydney and Ed - that's what I'm talking about!
And she’s also coming back from an injury ❤
Sydney is the frickin LEGEND
Imagine if she didn’t chop on 1st/2nd/10th hurdles….absolutely flying!
Untouchable
It's funny how "ho hum" a time like this has become. Just five years ago, this would have been a top 10 all time performance. Looking at her step pattern, she did not run a single 14 step hurdle, and had at least one where she ran 16. And still ran a world lead time. To me, it looked like she was NOT running at full effort, and was simply doing this one to make sure she qualified for the Olympic Trials. Kind of scary when you realize, this was the 35th fastest time ever run in this event.
Thank you. I've been reading the comments and some of these people are so delusional they have no idea how to analyze what they saw. This is literally the perfect analysis of this race
🤣🤣🤣
