I love track & field! But, there have been 6 must-watch athletes for me if they were competing: Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, Roger Federer, and Sydney. Excellence and dominance by all.
You're supposed to be talking about "Sydney McLaughlin DROPS THE HAMMER On Femke Bol" and you go back years to some other person and race? What are you doing?
She is a beautiful, absolute beast of a hurdler. I imagine if you watched her at ultra slow speed you might fibd a fault, but in real time she is perfection.
Her husband is a former NFL WR so he's all about speed and power. It makes me wonder if she won't start intensifying her focus on power and gravitate towards the 100m and 200m after this Olympics. It would be a whole new challenge for her where the spotlight shines brightest as these champions are widely recognized as the fastest humans on the planet. That's pretty lofty air to walk in but we all know being recognized as "The Fastest Woman Alive" won't be enough; especially when she knows that 10.48 makes her the fastest woman who's ever lived. She clocked 11.07 in the 100m in 2018. 11.07. Think about it. That is only .56 seconds off the world record and she has never professionally trained for it. Plus, she has become considerably faster and more powerful with her intensified training pursuing 400m perfection. I'll bet she can run high 10.6s within the first month of a switch over. At a recent meet, she dipped her toe into the short sprint pool participating in the 200m alongside Sha' Carri and some of the other big names in professional track. Not only did she make the finals, she won the whole damned thing with a respectable time. Interesting. Pack 10 lbs. on to her upper legs and butt from thousands of deep, full squats and road bicycling work and watch out world. While we'll be eyeing Flo-Jo's unapproachable 10.49 world record she'll be pushing herself to the limit each and everyday believing she can shock even the Gods atop Mt.Olympus when they see those three red numbers lit up that read, "9.99!". Many would be quick to doubt that possibility but I'll bet few would be certain enough to put a chunk of money on it. She's special.
No disrespect but her husband has nothing to do with her improvement. She has a great coach, Bobby Kearse. Allyson Felix's coach before she retired. Allyson is also her mentor
Sydney focusing on the 100m would be the worst thing for her the 400m is her best bet for LA in 2028 and maybe do some 200m races too and see how that goes. She already would be a favorite to win Gold in the 400m if she had chosen to run that race in Paris and the 200m is a possibility too in the future but the 100m might be to much of a reach and she needs to focus on the 400 and 200 post Olympics.

Many of these athletes are professionals with sponsors. Why do they have to safety pin paper name sheets to their uniforms like school children. The companies that provide the clothing could print the name directly on the clothing like is done in some many other sports.
T&F is not like most sports, far from it, and it's totally normal in T&F rather than how you label it. More importantly, as you could have seen multiple times, the bibs don't just show the athlete's name. They tell you about the meet/ tournament plus its main sponsor(s). Like at 2:34 it says DOHA 2019 (World Championships) and QNB. And obviously the organisation often wants to distinguish itself with the design of the bibs. Some meets / tournaments use chips on the bibs for call room check in and/or GPS location, linked to live standings on screen during the longer distances. Plus various organisations use bibs with colours signifying the defending champion, or the leader in the tournament (combined events) or leader(s) in the series (Diamond League) and whatnot. T&F is pretty much unique. Plus the tradition of bibs kinda has something imo.
@Terry-du3vc they do have the same trainer. That's not the argument. The nature of the race is the argument. Sidney won't fall like Mu because they don't run bunched together like they do in the 800. I’m confused, Femke Bol was not in any of these races? So how exactly has Levrone “dropped the hammer on Femke Bol? If you want to make a video about Levrone’s remarkable progression in her 400m hurdling career, fine. But don’t throw another runner into the headline when she wasn’t in any of these races.
Good sportsmanship applies to video producers and commentators as well.
Bol was in the 2021 Olympic race and the 2022 wc race. She got dusted in both.
Check out there PB's this year. That's what they mean by dropping the hammer. Femkes PB is 51.45, Sydney 50.65, that's a .80 second hammer. You can almost guarantee Sydney will run faster than that at the Olympics barring injury.

@sharkei1987uft It is not so bad to do that but it is advised against. It's called being redundant. You, in fact, show the same characteristic. You wrote: "the commentary is repetitive" and "repeats several times" indicating you are also being repetitive.

Her first 14-stride pattern was 5 hurdles 14 steps, 5 hurdles 15 steps.

So yes, she was a bit shocked, but probably because she didn't expect a WR this early in her season and by the looks of it she did it with a lot less effort than last time ...
I love track & field! But, there have been 6 must-watch athletes for me if they were competing: Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, Roger Federer, and Sydney. Excellence and dominance by all.

She is perfection
@scotthall3644 Nobody is perfect.
She said she suffered from her perfection. There are two sides to every coin.
Sydney is fantastic, Alex (UK)
Because her husband ain’t her coach.
