    I bought the black one on sale for $149, what a great bench! I replaced the tabletop with 3/4 plywood, screwed it down and put a vice on it. I also took the particle board tabletop that came with the bench and cut it so it so it fits over the bottom shelf. I just bought a Kobalt 3 gallon air compressor and it sits on the shelf. I love my Kobalt workbench!

      I've had mine for several months now and it's held up well. Hard to believe it's made in China. They don't usually make things that go together this easy and last very long.

    I built a very similar Kobalt bench this afternoon, and I actually used the instructions, mostly just for order of operations. In some ways they were less than helpful. Enjoy the bench.

    Great timing, been looking for a reloading bench but can't seem to make up my mind. Know you are into fire arms but not sure you reload, do you thing it would make a good reloading bench. Also the top you lifted up, it there a shelf in there if so it would make a good place to keep a rifle and not be shouting "look at me I have a rifle in here" type of storage.
    Good looking bench.

    For the average homeowner who needs a bench in the garage for occasional use these are fine out of the box. For heavier use it's a kit. Fortunately you can beef up the structure. First thing is to use nuts and washers on the M6 screws plus loctite. Second the bottom shelf is a joke. I overlaid it with 3/4 MDF. Then I built box section out of 1 x 10 ripped to fit two stiffen the structure up. Plus I consider the drawers to be too light weight in their construction to be used for anything heavy. The only thing holding them together is M4 screws. I'm currently building drawers to fit inside the stainless shell. I putting my drill press on it and if I'm happy I may get another one to mount a benchtop mill on

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fir occasional use??? This has been in my heavily used metal working, knife making, small engine shop for a couple of years now and it’s stood up to the abuse of daily shop use. There is no MDF on this. In fact, I bought a second for the shop just6 months ago because the first was so well built.

    I finally pulled the trigger and ordered this bench for my airbrush studio,but I paid a little extra to get the lime green one,I should have got one of these a long time ago but instead got a $100 Harbor Freight Work Bench which isn't worth the hassle it took putting it together. But I plan to have both benches flush with each other and this one will hold my tools and airbrush compressors and the HF bench will be the paint bench 😂

    • @bctruck

      The top is bamboo,one of the have fest woods available,however,it is only about 9/16 thick. If it were me,I would cut a piece of 5/8 plywood and double this up with the bamboo on top. It's an incredibly well built bench but the top is only supported around the 4 sides,not in the middle. If it were supported in the middle I would say yes it's plenty strong to stand up to reloading.

    • @BartBade

    Those direction thingers are for women, good you got a wife. They can't throw footballs well or run as fast as guys, but they can deal with directions and other great talents. Womens won't ever replace men like the progs are trying to say they should, but they are a great compliment to dudes and fill in great where we are weak, coming with their own superior set of skills. Give the instructions to the wife!
