    I got two kits of those legendary Patriot Viper Steel: 3600c14 and 4133c19, and they work great together in my case.
    Started with 8600k on Z370 which didn’t go exactly high, now I tune them for 5800X3D, first got stable 3800 14-16-14-24 GDM for now, will increase frequency tomorrow.
    Also BZ said X3D doesn’t need fast RAM but I still see improvements in benchmarks which just warms my soul.

      Well of course it scales with higher clocks, just not as much as a regular 5800x

    • @kerotomas1
      @kerotomas1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It scales just as well as any other cpu if the cpu has to tap into ram more because it ran into a task where even the 96mb cache is not enough, but this will not be too frequent if you are not flooring the cpu in a benchmark which is just not real world usage.

    Very true about the 5800x3d. I've been messing around with my ram timings lately and while tightened timings are technically better in my system, there's no difference for gaming compared to just throwing on xmp

    • @t7274
      @t7274 ปีที่แล้ว

      That completely depends if/how often the game fills up the cache. There will be a big difference in 1% lows in games like Warzone where the game does not fit in the entire cache. Even if the XMP config gets a 200 fps average, it probably won't be a great experience if you're getting 55 fps 1% lows.

    I once bought these 4000c16 Patriot and the heatsink was really cheap/nearly not in contact with the IC, I finally returned them. I ended up buying a used (and cheaper) 3800c14 kit from G.Skill and I was able to post 4400c14 1.6v while the Patriot wasn't able to. I believe Patriot is cheaping on the heatsink and the XMP being closer to what the chip are capable of compared to other.

The best options I could find were the Patriot 3200@16-18-18-36 for 190$ that you barely just glossed over and the G.Skill 4000@18-22-22-42 for 270$ that I see someone was able to get stable @3800 with similar cpu/mobo on pcpartpicker. what do you think would be my best bet? To be said, Corsair's 3200 cl16-18-18 and cl18... sticks are almost all CJR from what I've seen. Might be local supply thing, but each and every stick I've ever checked and those I've heard of or discussed about from those have been. In almost every Finnish shop they are (among) the cheapest option and discounted in every sale, which makes choosing cheap grade RAM incredibly easy. You just buy the capacity you need from the slowest bin on sale and clock it to decent speeds.

    At the time it was the absolute cheapest 2x16 3600 kit, and pretty much all other 2x16 3600 kits were $200+ CAD ($168+ USD) and were 18-22-22.
    Seemed like a deal and I bought it with the plan to upgrade 1st gen Ryzen to Zen3 if we ever got BIOS support on X370 (which we do now),
    but still haven't snagged a Zen3 chip...and I can't do over 3000 14-16-16-34 with this Zen1 chip.

    Does the number have to be exactly 200 to be considered bdie or anything over 200?
    I need 128gb of ram and it has to be bdie manually overclocked so that I can leave razer synapse open all the time!

    Hey, I bought the 4000Mhz Cl19 Patrio Viper kit and it wouldn’t boot on my 3700x Crosshair VIII Hero. Any ideas? Thanks!!
