There was no better sound than hearing 5-7 of these bad boys roaring around lake washinton or tri cities back in the day, growing up with Mike Hansen and now living next door to J Micheal's parents ive been able to see the transformation almost first hand, but these are bad ass
I can't believe I didn't know what a hydroplane was til today. A co-worker told me about these earlier and I had to find clips of them. I'm glad I did. These things are really cool.
I love watching the old races with a bunch of V12s roaring around the track. It's great to see one holding its own against turbines. The one thing I like listening to with the turbine is the initial spool-up.
Piston engines are too expensive to maintain, these turbines are like 5000 hp regulated down to about 3000 hp to make it competitive for smaller teams and engine life,Engines are all equal and come from H1 ,Engine will last all year season season,,
You can keep those tubine engines. This is real raw h.p. .. This boat is absolutely ripping!! Propped perfectly. Sounds like a P-51 mustang in a dive and fast fly-by.. wow. Hooked up!!! Wish i was there to see it..
They need two classes. Turbine and piston powered as the start was. These are way cool boats as my son is in a drag boat club running outboard motors We run OMC. Mercs hate us. They dont have cubic inches
High-quality steel is the main problem. It's simply too expensive- and an aluminum block would never stand up to the pressures/temperatures created inside a boosted V-12.
They really weren't doing anything with them. Most of the Allison/Merlin motors used in Unlimited Hydroplanes over the years were obsolete WWII surplus. Had they not found new life in racing or tractor pulling, they would have been scrapped many decades ago...
fish gotta be like wtf
Best boat in the series. Wish they could nail down a big sponsor and hit every race
I think that’s cool that they went with the Allison instead of the turbine. 😉👍🏻💯
Do they use stern drives here or water jet drives like the ones in jet ski?
@@karaabdelkader1273propellors under the boat and separate rudders
Once engine is started the propellor is moving

Can’t beat the sound of the Allison. Brings back great memories.
Nothing like an Allison V12 ❤❤
Wow, I LOVE the sound of a boosted V-12, with that cam "lope" at idle. Sweet! Thanks for sharing Jeremie!

Always love hearing the v12, I'm 50, so I was around when the turbines were coming in, but hearing this I soo much better Go 3
H1 needs more of this.

So Cool seeing a piston boat Hauling the Mail !
I love the sound 👏🏼👏🏼‼️
True thunder screams cool!

This is what HYDRO RACING IS !! THUNDER ! BABY !!
Last of the thunderboats!
V-2has da best sound in da WORLD
They didn't call them "Thunder Boats" for nothing.
Sure 'Miss' the piston days. But the Hydros are still the 💩👍👍
OHHH yes bring it on!
I bought my last Springfield from Griggs at the Pasco, WA location. Good prices.
Dude do you know the top speed of the boat in the video and if he use Inboard or outboard or Sterndrives or jet drives?
Beautiful
Is that an Inboard or an Inline V12?
Now that's what I call pod racing!
Wow... Allison V12... can these piston engine boats compete with the turbines today?
Nice all the way around great boat and speed and driving good job captain
Cool boat!! 😮
I can’t wait to see the 3 at Tri Cities, hopefully it doesn’t chuck a prop shaft through the bottom of the hull this time
how do they have so much grip on water???
I miss the sound of the Alisons and Merlins
Why does it turn like a car? Are there twin rudders in the back?
Hope they find a buyer. That boat can be competitive with a driver other than Jimmy King.

Poetry on water
I love the old warlord engines! Much more enjoyable for me!!!!! I wish someone would start producing them again

@@brianknapp6215 I know, I've raced boats over 30 years. Many great things qren't made anymore because it costs more
This is not boat with engine, but engine with small boat😂😂😂
🤠🐉🎬

Hi
Runs good but won't beat the turbines sadly
Been putting up a good fight. Progress
I would rather watch 7 litter boats.
Yeah they sound good, but they destroyed a whole bunch of very valuable aircraft engines before they went to turbine powerplants
