I just became a paraplegic after an accident on my motorcycle. I’m actually still in the hospital from it, but I’m gonna be in a wheelchair. It’s tough to accept, I’m 29 years old. I stay as positive I can. Any tips to adjusting to life in a wheelchair would be greatly appreciated if you have any. Keep staying strong!

Stay on top of your daily routine and make sure you do weight shifts. Figure out a good healthy diet for you and stick to it also drink plenty of water. I don’t drink any soda at all and I stick to mostly water except cranberry juice. I was injured in a motorcycle accident right before my 21st birthday in 2016. It’s going to get rough and people are going to disappear those are two things you just have to accept. If you keep up with yourself and keep your body in good condition everything else will come with that.

Thank you for making this video. Visibility is so important for people to connect with the issues others face. 💜

Your right everyday is a mental and physical day to deal with there are no easy days I’ve been paralyzed for 21 years now. It’s an everyday job with no days off. Tears in shoulders , arthritis thumbs from propelling forward over two decades, and lower back pain constantly beating us up. I wish you the best

As someone who has been paralyzed for a little over 9 months now, I have to say this life is already very hard. I am 23 and I suddenly became weak and unable to walk, before I had a thoracic fusion performed. I don’t know how I can do this for another 30+? years. Props to you and stay strong.

My fiancée is in a wheelchair and I love her with all my heart. Been with her has been such a learning experience and honestly, I only fall for her more and more with each day. Thank you for sharing this, it really inspires me and make me want to work harder for the smile of my future wife. Best wishes from France !

Thanks so much for describing yourself as a wheelchair user. I’m also a wheelchair user and I hate being described as being in a wheelchair. Sometimes I am in my wheelchair and sometimes I’m in bed or in the shower or in the pool.
I use a wheelchair. I also use a knife and fork.

Hang in there! It’s hard 😢 but it gets better and we can still thrive, even with our disabilities. 😊

I recently injured my spine and it's made it hard for me to walk for long or do winter guard (a sport I love, if you're interested you should look up some of the recent shows, some people are amazing) but since I haven't been to the doctor for my injury yet, I can't get mobility aids, and my coach doesn't really care about injuries we get outside of guard so I can't stop going to practice either ):

Thanks for sharing. As I listened to you and watched you put away dishes I realized that I’m as tall standing as you are in a wheelchair. Just being really small definitely makes basic tasks kinda a struggle on the average day and now that I’m getting older I have calcium crystals in my joints which limits my mobility but people can’t tell my struggles. Because of the hardships of my life I’m always kind to strangers and help when I see need.
I hope that you haven’t experienced people being cruel to you because of your wheelchair. But, if people aren’t going out of their way just keep in mind that it is a common perception that people with physical disabilities “want to be treated normal” and not assisted.

Thank you for reminding people to be kind. Over the years, I have been in a wheel chair, on crutches, on a walker, or on a knee walker due to accidents and/or surgery. Right now, I am 5 days post hip surgery and using a walker. I am not looking forward to my first trip out alone. As a result of my own limitations, although they are temporary right now, I always take time to help others. It's the kind, considerate thing to do. For a better world, we always need to be kind and considerate. God bless you!

@@simplychannon .. No need to feel sorrow. We all have our cross to bear. I thank you for sharing and reminding us all that we just never know what our community members are struggling with in a day. Always lift your gaze, make eye contact with others and remember to smile (fake it till ya make it!! 😉) Sending love from North East Florida. 🥰🌸

I just had a spinal... Well, I guess you could call it "event" that left me with extreme nerve damage in my legs and saddle area. I can walk, but it's very, very limited. I can walk maybe a block and I'm crying in pain. I've been doing my best with just a walker, but I'm stuck in my house, and have been since the surgery. I'm turning 37 next month.
