I kinda incline to agree with this take for a couple of reasons. For 1. We all relatively knew Ingrid from past SF games as well as CFE and we all remember how busted she was and is why we hate her. But other characters that we also knew were the exact same thing and were given a 2nd chance to be redeem and play as different that they usally do, hell the FGC community hated Elena in USFIV for how busted her healing was and now she is making a return in SF6 hoping to be a lot more balance this time around. And 2nd of all is probably a new redesign and playstyle if possible. They did it with Ed in SF6 why not do the same for her. I mean Capcom hasn't fully forgotten her if they hadn't also give Karin an alternate skin of hers in SF5.

From what I understand, there is a build of Capcom Fighting All-Stars that's basically mostly finished. All they'd have to do is polish it a bit, and I'm sure they'd be able to drop it in another CFC.
That Capcom Fighting All Stars game just looks like Capcom's version of KoF Maximum Impact. Also seeing Chun Li do her iconic lightning kick super reminds me of when I first time I saw the KoF Maximum Impact commercial on TV back in the day and they showed Yuri doing her bicycle kick super.
She has some mysterious power and that’s it. Pretty much none of her appearances (none of which are canon) actually present her as being the most powerful. Hell, Alpha 3 Max has her shit get stolen by Bison, so clearly she’s not THAT powerful.

Fighting Evolution is just okay. If Capcom gave us Fighting All-stars and Alpha 3 Max so I could play as Ingrid in all the games she's in, I'd be happy

Hot take: Capcom Fighting Evolution really wasn't bad, it just needed a bigger playable roster of characters. Having a big amount of them just be background fodder was a bad move. However, the stages were very cool, the controls are super crisp, and the soundtrack was 🔥
The idea of having characters only be allowed mechanics from the game they represent is stupid as hell, a groove system would have been far better. Even in CVS2 they added SNK mechanics to some Capcom grrooves so to keep it balanced.

@@silverdragoon27 I didn't say anything about having SNK mechanics in this game, I said a groove system to give any character the playstyle of the games represented, in this case it would be an SF2 groove, SF Alpha groove, SF3 groove, Darkstalkers groove, and a Red Earth groove, this gives more freedom to the players otherwise why the hell would anybody use the SF2 characters when all hardly have any worthwhile mechanics. It's making an unbalanced game on purpose and yes it's stupid especially since the SF2 characters also appeared in SF Alpha and some in SF3 so why limit them to SF2?
Ryu's Dramatic Finish = Kaze No Ken, which is the move he used to defeat Akuma in _Street Fighter III: Ryu Final_ The SF2 characters don't get much but they do far more damage than the other games. RYu/Guile/Bison are actually mid-tier in this. The Red Earth characters, with the exception of Hydron, are top tier in this. Leo is the best character in the game, last I checked. Anyway, I will maintain that cancelling CFAS and replacing it with CFJ was the correct course of action. You might look back on this game fondly _now_ because you didn't play it, and you might not remember what else was out in 2003. But remember that games like _Tekken 4_, _Virtua Fighter 4_, _Dead or Alive 3_ were out by this time. CFAS didn't even look as good as _Dead or Alive 2_ which game out 4 years earlier. So it looked like garbage compared to its comtemporaries. Furthermore, this game had two location tests, and _people who actually played it_ reacted very negatively. You know bad a game has to be for them to not even bother with attempting to fix the game and instead cancel it outright? If this game had come out, it would have done _major_ damage to Capcom's reputation, and quite possibly would have killed their interest in fighters for good. With CFJ, while it was received poorly, that did no long term damage to Capcom because everyone knew that Capcom could do better if they wanted to. There was almost no effort put into CFJ (there was supposed to have an SF1 team, apparently, but got scrapped) and it showed. But CFAS had actual effort behind it and it did so poorly in testing that Capcom chose to cancel it rather than fix it. The former was better for Capcom in the long-term than the latter. As as has been noted, the game itself is actually not bad to play. It's just horrible graphically, I personally thought the music was dreadful, and is overall a soul-less entity. But I'd still take that over CFAS any day.
I would agree with the fact that Capcom Fighting Evolution was the worst fighting game in the past but we're in 2024 going into 2025 and Capcom wouldn't have picked that specific game among their entirety of their library for a reason. Cause chances are they would be adjusting and fixing the game's balance and such to be playable nowadays. I mean we seen it already been done with certain people modifying the games to be more playable such as the original Street Fighter 1 game as it is, so it's not that farfetch to do the same with CFE.
I remember buying this when it came out. The very low price for a brand new game should have told me something was up from the get go. Luckily I had bought the street fighter anniversary collection on ps2 as well that same day. I immediately ditched this game for Third Strike (I was brand new to third strike BTW)

It's really interesting to see people explore and talk about this game. This is one of the first Capcom fighting games I ever owned. I remember thinking it was really good back then, and looking back, I can only laugh. I always hated Ingrid though, and that will likely never change.
They have the game at their HQ. Nakayama san posted in game screen shots from the game on twitter years ago. He even blurred out the SNK guest character on the character select screen. We gotta push capcom to seriously consider releasing that playable build. #FreeCFAS
Long story short: Instead of making a cool 3D game with original characters and some neat game ideas and sticking with it they made a commercially released Mugen that's highly unbalanced and that's terrible stages a d music

I wouldn't be surprised if those games that could of been added, MIGHT be part of collection #3 alongside the SF EX series. But let's hope, the more voices speak up, the more the Devs will listen
It's weird to imagine the world were Capcom FAS actually released. Street Fighter would've been treated like Soul Calibur or SamSho. Sister series that the devs think is a financial risk because the last games never sold as well as the main series.

The thing with the Red Earth characters in CFE is that Capcom had to rehaul how their mechanics worked, for the most part. For example, Red Earth didn't have gem meters for supers, instead using collectable orbs for supers, and while there is a leveling mechanic in CFE for them it's completely different from how it worked in Red Earth, which was simply an RPG-style leveling system where you unlocked more moves & abilities the more you played, and returning players would input a button code they got on Game Over to continue using the character at the level they last Game Overed with, before they reached the max of Level 32. You literally can't learn how to properly play Red Earth by playing CFE. Also, astonishingly enough, there was also supposed to be Street Fighter 1 reps in CFE! It was going to be Sagat (with a modified sprite to reflect his pre-chest scar look), Eagle (via CvS2), & a brand new version of Retsu, though the entire "team" got scrapped. However, how would they even have played in CFE? What, would they have had no supers & no ability to combo at all, but in return their specials do insane damage?
And the fact that the second fighting collection is gonna be censored somehow… I pray that it doesn’t make unnecessary choices moving forward, just like I pray they’d not let their future sales go to waste and put it all on a revival of Evolution/Jam🙏🏿
The funny thing is Yun's sprite is the SF3 one but they cut some animation frames. Same with the other SF3 characters. Also, SNK did their own take on this with Neo Geo Battle Coliseum and it was actually pretty good.
Capcom Fighting All Stars would be a good addition to an EX collection. Fighting Jam was pretty bad, but IMO it's good that it's included in the collection. And as much as I think Fighting Jam was pretty bad, that doesn't mean Ingrid herself is a shitty character. She's just undeveloped. That's how I see it.
I always wondered why I didnt like Ingrid. Then I saw a comment that articulated my feelings so simply. "Ingrid, the Roman Reigns of Capcom" Capcom pushed her so hard and so fast that fans just got sick of her.
People who were at location testing this did not want to play this. Maximilian dood has a story on it and NeoGAF(RIP in peace) had writeups about the ONE loke test for where players were vehemently against the gameplay(which they said was not very street fighter like. HUH?!) And the devs panicked and just shat out this Capcom FE instead. Prominent Capcom leaker lupo(?) who we later learned was Seth Killian dropped rumors that the arcade boards this game was in was at some storage in Osaka(not Kyoto) last he heard. It's been more than a decade since he said that, so assume those are now in danger. TLDR -One loke test destroyed this game's chances, devs panicked and CFE was the result.
This game feels like someone cut all the characters out of a magazine and just glue sticked them into this game. Such jank. I remember picking this up at gamestop, excited for a new fighting game and being thoroughly disappointed.
I’ve played this game it wasn’t that bad just bad base on Capcom standards. If you pick between mechanics and a much bigger roster it’ll be fine. This being in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will give it new life.
I'm okay with Fighting Evolution. I'm okay with it. I accept it for what it is. And I really do like Ingrid But I agree, this game needs to release. They were SO CLOSE. They don't even have to do much. They could just release whatever they got and we'd all happily take it. I want to live in a world where I can play both of these online. It's so close.

It's really interesting to see people explore and talk about this game. This is one of the first Capcom fighting games I ever owned. I remember thinking it was really good back then, and looking back, I can only laugh. I always hated Ingrid though, and that will likely never change.

They have the game at their HQ. Nakayama san posted in game screen shots from the game on twitter years ago. He even blurred out the SNK guest character on the character select screen. We gotta push capcom to seriously consider releasing that playable build. #FreeCFAS
Long story short:
Instead of making a cool 3D game with original characters and some neat game ideas and sticking with it they made a commercially released Mugen that's highly unbalanced and that's terrible stages a d music

They royal whooped OP tweeters ass in the quotes that day. Me included. Because how dare you say this game was good? You were around in 05 like me! I was thirsting for NGBC and we had “NGBC at home” and it was CFE.
Also this roster was pretty sick. Poison, Haggar, Alex, Batsu etc. Ingrid, DD and Rook also had solid designs. They were not lying with that All-Star title.
I wouldn't be surprised if those games that could of been added, MIGHT be part of collection #3 alongside the SF EX series.
But let's hope, the more voices speak up, the more the Devs will listen

It's weird to imagine the world were Capcom FAS actually released. Street Fighter would've been treated like Soul Calibur or SamSho. Sister series that the devs think is a financial risk because the last games never sold as well as the main series.
That training stage is very weird looking.
Darkstalkers 4 should have a time travel plot, and should include the Red Earth characters as being from the past.

I actually enjoyed Fighting Jam when it came out. Back then it was only place to get Red Earth characters other than Tessa
The thing with the Red Earth characters in CFE is that Capcom had to rehaul how their mechanics worked, for the most part. For example, Red Earth didn't have gem meters for supers, instead using collectable orbs for supers, and while there is a leveling mechanic in CFE for them it's completely different from how it worked in Red Earth, which was simply an RPG-style leveling system where you unlocked more moves & abilities the more you played, and returning players would input a button code they got on Game Over to continue using the character at the level they last Game Overed with, before they reached the max of Level 32. You literally can't learn how to properly play Red Earth by playing CFE.
Also, astonishingly enough, there was also supposed to be Street Fighter 1 reps in CFE! It was going to be Sagat (with a modified sprite to reflect his pre-chest scar look), Eagle (via CvS2), & a brand new version of Retsu, though the entire "team" got scrapped. However, how would they even have played in CFE? What, would they have had no supers & no ability to combo at all, but in return their specials do insane damage?
And the fact that the second fighting collection is gonna be censored somehow… I pray that it doesn’t make unnecessary choices moving forward, just like I pray they’d not let their future sales go to waste and put it all on a revival of Evolution/Jam🙏🏿

The funny thing is Yun's sprite is the SF3 one but they cut some animation frames. Same with the other SF3 characters. Also, SNK did their own take on this with Neo Geo Battle Coliseum and it was actually pretty good.
Capcom Fighting All Stars would be a good addition to an EX collection. Fighting Jam was pretty bad, but IMO it's good that it's included in the collection. And as much as I think Fighting Jam was pretty bad, that doesn't mean Ingrid herself is a shitty character. She's just undeveloped. That's how I see it.

I always wondered why I didnt like Ingrid. Then I saw a comment that articulated my feelings so simply.

Maximilian dood has a story on it and NeoGAF(RIP in peace) had writeups about the ONE loke test for where players were vehemently against the gameplay(which they said was not very street fighter like. HUH?!) And the devs panicked and just shat out this Capcom FE instead. Prominent Capcom leaker lupo(?) who we later learned was Seth Killian dropped rumors that the arcade boards this game was in was at some storage in Osaka(not Kyoto) last he heard. It's been more than a decade since he said that, so assume those are now in danger.
TLDR -One loke test destroyed this game's chances, devs panicked and CFE was the result.

This game feels like someone cut all the characters out of a magazine and just glue sticked them into this game. Such jank. I remember picking this up at gamestop, excited for a new fighting game and being thoroughly disappointed.

I’ve played this game it wasn’t that bad just bad base on Capcom standards. If you pick between mechanics and a much bigger roster it’ll be fine. This being in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will give it new life.
I'm okay with Fighting Evolution. I'm okay with it. I accept it for what it is. And I really do like Ingrid
But I agree, this game needs to release. They were SO CLOSE. They don't even have to do much. They could just release whatever they got and we'd all happily take it.
I want to live in a world where I can play both of these online. It's so close.

those 2 characters btw is based on the 2 protagonists from kof maximim impact. it had the same devs when snk went out of business
