What are your thoughts on some of the housing reforms the BC NDP are pushing? While no level of government is currently taking steps to rein in the tax burden on developers, the BC government seems to at least be doing more than any other government in Canada to change zoning laws across the province. - No more exclusionary single family zoning - up-zoning land surrounding Skytrain stations - Preventing municipalities from imposing community consultations on projects that already meet the zoning guidelines or development plan for an area. - They are also currently working on reforms to allow single point access stair case buildings up to 8 stories. I think it would still be fair to criticize them for not acknowledging the elephant in the room which are development charges since lowering them would piss off municipalities even more. But at the end of the day every other provincial governments, Conservative and NDP alike are just sitting around twiddling their thumbs like there's nothing wrong. Plus the BC Conservatives have said they want to repeal the pro market reforms the BC NDP have implemented which is just crazy town! I never thought we would see the day where an NDP government were the ones raining in regulation and red tape, while the Cons oppose it, but here we are.
Gotta hand it to Eby for doing everything he can to address the supply but its a runaway train at this point. You're definitely right BC appears to be doing a lot more than Ontario to at least try some new legislation and zoning. I think the single stair case will be one of the biggest when you pair it with all of the new upzoning.
Damn, all that data backed up by the magic 8-ball's foresight. I can't see any way outta this
😂
Can you talk about Surrey City Centre. So many shady developments there.

Gosh, money laundering is getting more difficult, I feel so bad!
the truth is actually the exact opposite...far FAR too many dwellings have already been built in canada.
I agree. There is no shortage. The focus is on the wrong problem.
Support that by data and credible sources please
