Yes, agree, though I also think if he wanted an additional career he could do voice over work very easy, as well, read for books on tape, especially western type stuff :)
Two videos in one day! What a treat! When you move to WY can you do a video on trailering tips and tricks? It’d be helpful to know what you take for the horses, trailer maintenance/preparations, if you plan your route differently when trailering, etc.
Hey Dewayne, just an idea, but i would love to see how you pad for saddle fit on different horses. There are a million different ideas on how saddles should fit and the role of saddle pads, and you have mentioned in past videos how you have used a single, well made, saddle on a ton of different horses over the years without soring them. I'm sure there are a ton of horse people who would appreciate seeing how you handle padding horses with different builds, and what you look for in a good saddle fit for the horse. Congrats on all the success!
He may have additional comments to add in a new video too, but if you search the channel for "saddle fit" you'll get a bunch of results over several videos that provide a lot of insight on Dewayne's take on saddles, fit, placement, pads, etc. Great stuff! You may have done that already and not found what you want. If so, apologies. Just thought I would mention.
@Rob Vernachio Yes indeed! Great suggestion. Another of my favourite channels. @Aiden Nelms if you start with the first two videos in this search link its a lot of great info: th-cam.com/users/DebPuckettsearch?query=saddle%20pads
Same thing with tools don't buy junk tools ! Don't buy junk boots! And don't eat junk food! Good steak dinner black coffee and a nice Cigar with a open fire and my dogs ! And I am set! Dwayne another awesome Video! I have yet to not watch any of your content to the end! I watch it all! Some I watch 2 or 3 times! Thank you Sir
Sir, you mentioned bucking rolls possibly becoming a crutch if they are always used. To be honest, I never really thought much about it but what you say makes a lot of sense. Great content and advice, thank you, Ernest, Tucson, AZ
Hello Mr. Dewayne my name is Lawton broyles I grew up working cows and horses and I just got out of the military and I moved with my wife and daughter to Spokane Washington and I’d really like to get back in to cowboying and working with horses and cows do you have any suggestions for this area I know you lived in Washington for a while I appreciate all your videos You are very wise God bless
Not a D-ring, it's an eggbutt snaffle. I'm only correcting the statement because in my circle it's the most common snaffle used and it would stand out. And a note on the back cinch, if you're catching a back leg the cinch is too loose and your cinch hobble is too short. The back cinch should be angled slightly forward towards the front cinch down by the belly of the horse. I agree that if someone isn't going to put the effort into doing it correctly then it shouldn't be used.
Enjoyed this video, funny last video I was wondering what kind of saddle that was...looks super comfortable and well made. Also, and I don't know if this is an east coast thing but I would call your snaffle an egg-butt rather than a D-ring, the egg-butt part is significant as opposed to an plain O ring snaffle cause they can get pinched on the lip by that O ring (just mentioning for new folks who might get confused by stuff...I have noticed different areas of the country sometimes have different terms for things).. Overall the gear is top quality, looks great and natural materials, which I really like, and like you say you can keep your eye out for deals on some of this stuff :)
Yes, that's an egg butt snaffle in my book too. And I don't know that the style of the cheek pieces have much to do with the mouthpiece metal. I tend to think of sweet iron being found primarily in good western bits and SS being found primarily in good english bits (and chrome and brass in less expensive bits) but that's probably a gross overgeneralization 😂. D-ring snaffles come in two styles -- so-called English Dee and Western Dee. I would have been interested in seeing the mouthpiece. Since Dewayne didn't specify otherwise, I suppose it's just a single joint mouthpiece.
Man these are skills that we should not be forgetting. All this technology kids love today can be turned into paperweights if our sun ripps ass in our direction..
Thanks for the frequency of videos Dewayne! On a side note - I don't suppose anyone's ever told you that you sound just like Ed Bruce? 'Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys!'
Hey Dewayne, I was hoping for some wisdom on being lonely. I recently made a move to pursue something I really want to do in my life. I am seeing tremendous success and I can say "it's happening" gladly. Despite this, however, I find myself alone in a sea of people. My faith of God is rigid, so that only helps, but I don't share a work ethic or lifestyle or anything with anyone who I am around, and I find myself truly alone with only God, but the lack of human interaction and someone to give love to (brotherly, not at all the modern romantic concept) is hurting me and I was hoping you could provide a tidbit to maybe address this, I don't doubt I am the only one experiencing this trouble in their lives. God bless you Dewayne, maybe we could cross paths one day if the Father wills it :)
Thanks for another great video! I had a question for Mama actually - are there any riding boots that she recommends? Im a lady in my 40’s and cant take high heels or really narrow toes (but I do not want square toes) like I used to and it seems like so many women’s boots are designed for fashion over function. I just want a good plain leather boot with a moderate heel and leather sole. Thanks so much for your time and keep up the good work!
Sorry to ask, sir, but I'm looking for a new tail hair mecate, namely for a thick-skinned pony I work, the others too, but especially that one, and I'm curious cuz yours looks well made. What brand is your mecate, what diameter is it, and about how much was it? You said you got it on the eBay and it was 22 foot long horse tail hair. I'm trying to compare prices yet still get the quality gear I need. I'll be needing about a 1/2-3/4 inch diameter. Thank you so much for your time.
I really enjoy your videos. I’m talking to my son about coming to one of your weeks next fall. Two questions; how do the bucking rolls attach to the saddle? how does the saddle bags attach? I know this may seem obvious but this is still fairly new to me.
“A snappin’ bit and a Tapioca saddle.” 😆 I wonder if any of your followers will get that reference? Is Deanna still using the Arizona-style breast collar she got with her saddle?
Well presented. You may want to touch on the wither strap attached to your pulling collar. Good piece of equipment but not alot of awareness relating to its functionn. I do enjoy your videos
You may have mentioned in the past and I just missed it. When shopping for a saddle, how do you determine the proper size seat to purchase? I was always told to just sit on it and go by the feel.
Question from a leather worker, are the gussets on your saddle bags the same leather as the rest of the bags, or is it a bit softer leather so they will stay nice and flat?
@@DryCreekWranglerSchool I'm not sure, but I think whoever had him either got him from Crockett stables in Townsend, or from a guy named Meyers . I could be wrong ( wouldn't be the first time). I guided for both the aforementioned parties. In my younger days......
Hi Dewayne, I know the size of cinch depends on the horse. What sizes do you recommend to buy that will work on a vast majority of horses? Ive heard 32 is a good size.
Sir I am looking to start riding again and I have always wanted to try an Australian stock saddle. I have ridden English and western. What are your thoughts Sir. I would like to know. Thank you.
That is for hobbling the horse when you’re on a lunch break or in camp. When the horse is trained properly, you can put those on his front legs and he knows to stay in one spot. This is very handy if you don’t have a good place to tie horse up
That’s a good question. The thickness of the horn doesn’t matter, in that I don’t grab a hold of it. And you are correct, I don’t rope much. However, what makes a saddle a wade saddle is its unique construction method. With most western saddles, the saddle horn is added separately during construction. With a Wade saddle, the horn is carved out of the same wood that the swells are carved out of. It is all one piece. When they do this, they are able to thin down the gullet underneath the horn. So this sets the saddle down in closer contact to the Horse. I like the ride that this gives me.
@@DryCreekWranglerSchool Thank you for your answer and explanations! No I know! Just I asked, because I had other saddle and now have wade saddle too, in it I like round, short skirt...,but I grab the horn, while riding and wade horn is not made for that , so I feel, not that sure, but I am not a specialist...maybe will get used later. Thank you!
The horn is the worst place to grab when you’re riding and you feel unstable. If you think about it, if you reach out and grab that horn and pull on it it actually pulls you up out of your seat. Some people will reach around and grab the Cheyenne roll behind them on the cantle and that will actually pull you back down in your saddle. The other thing is you can put a night latch on your saddle. That’s pretty easy to look up.
@@DryCreekWranglerSchool Thank you for nice explanation again! All is clear. When I grab the horn with one hand, it seems like I am not really unbalanced, but just as additional secure, the hand itself wants to have something to hold for some bad case if something happens, thanks to God, nothing bad happened and I can't prove that it helped me any time, so I understood your point and will try not use the horn to grab, but just be more strong with my legs to seat deap and balanced in my seat and really to practice to grab Cheyenne roll in case needed. Thanks!!
You probably hear this a lot Dewayne, but your voice is extremely calming. I hope you have a good week!
Yes, agree, though I also think if he wanted an additional career he could do voice over work very easy, as well, read for books on tape, especially western type stuff :)

Spot on Sir. Good to see another guy that believes in the same vein like i do. Thx
I use the same pad. It really has been to me the best type I've used.
Love the way you’re growing your hair out Dewayne!

Thanks so much for the mention of Buckaroo Leather. We so much enjoy working with you. Ride on…. Beautiful informative video!!
Dewayne, thanks for running through your personal rig and setup.
That's without a doubt, the cleanest tack I've ever seen.
Good tack is expensive, and is worth keeping clean and taking care of.

There are western belts that hold bullets. You need the same idea to hold your cigars.

No such thing as too long saddle strings. Nice gear!
1st gear! 2nd gear! and sometimes 3rd gear in the straight aways!
I need to carve out time to get myself and my mare out to your school.
Can you please make more videos like this! Keep up the good work! I was wondering do you make bridle horse (snaffle hackamore two rein spade)?
Great video, thanks!
Nice I never new your horses name was mouse, just like newt from lonesome dove🤝
Really enjoyed the video

Good gear I was noticing the hair is getting along there ain't it part 😉🐝
Appreciate the tips

I was wondering if you ever have problems with herd dynamics? specifically when adding a new horse

Yes, always
Do you have a link to that saddle pad? I can’t seem to find the exact one
Isn't that an O-ring snaffle ?
It’s an egg butt snaffle
Third gear?
Is it me, or is there no audio?
Turn it up..😜
I just double checked, and the audio sounds good
@@DryCreekWranglerSchool I'm so dumb, I had my Bluetooth connected to my headphones haha! I appreciate you checking that, it's very kind
