Had to be at 6th grade camp this week back in 93. Was so upset I had to miss this game. Not even a fan of the teams. Just wanted to see a part of nfl history. So glad this was posted to watch 28 years later.
When Monday night football was an event and not just another game. You got to love that opening with Kathy Gifford and the stones on Frank Gifford to be able to poke fun at his life.
1:09 A different Monday Night Football intro without Hank Williams Jr. I still like this Vanessa Williams "Save The Best For Last" video on this Monday Night Football intro.
That season, Williams did not perform the intro song, save for once toward the end of the season. Every week, the intro song was different. The final week of that season, Boyz II Men performed a modified version of _End of the Road_ to signify the end of the year.
Funny how things change. Back then they were noticing that touchbacks were getting too easy, thus taking exciting returns out of the game. Recently they changed the rules to achieve *more* touchbacks to reduce injuries related to the exciting returns. …Oh what an unpredictable world!!!
Home debut of Joe Montana and he faced John Elway who would have the greatest Monday Night Football peformance in history in 1994. 😊 Joe had a breakout year with Marcus Allen and show people their was tred left on their tires. Frank Gifford Dan Dierdorf and Al Michaels on the call for this game ABC 9:00.
Yea but u gotta remember they didnt go to the playoffs from like 1971-1989. I think Montana came in 93 92? And they did go to the AFC championship if anything sucks they didnt get a ring but I hear ya.
it wasn't a mistake for chiefs to get montana. of course you would say that because they didn't win a playoff game after he left and lost in the afc championship game against buffalo.
Miss you Frank , was never the same after you also. ; sure appreciated my time I had to enjoy your work Mr. Gifford .

Only the real die hard chiefs fan will remember seeing games played in arrowhead on both turf and grass
So if I was born after they switched to grass I'm not a real Chiefs fan?
1993 was the last year they played on turf.
🎶Start Me Up🎶 How I miss the old days at Arrowhead.
They still play the stones during kickoffs, a good time

Willie Shields 😂 a rookie. And Alto’s son is a rookie starting for the chargers. Damn time flies
Each team had 4 hall of famers and some borderline candidates. Talent everywhere.
Next year's game between these 2 teams would be much more exciting. Would make up for snowball game 1985.

I love the Gifford's kid at the beginning of the show. How cute!😂
Jasper Mitchell Frank can you hurry home please
Too bad they had Kathie Lee for a mother.
Damn! 😂
It's cool seeing the late Darren Drozdov playing for the Broncos. He actually got to start this game.
Is this the MNF game he threw up on the ball before the center snapped it? If so, any chance you know what time in the video?
@@ryanheckman4649 It's not this game. The puke incident happened in a preseason game vs. Miami Dolphins.

Vanessa Williams sings that on Soul Train, Apollo, and Saturday Night Live
It doesn't get any better than Vanessa Williams.
Wow, A Vanessa Williams cameo 😁
I think Harvey Williams and Merton Hanks were separated at birth.
Wish the "Revenge Game" was on TH-cam, that's the game he gave the 49ers a big FUCK YOU, showing that he was still the better QB....
The GOAT what a opening like Vanessa Williams said still the best Joe! No doubt abut that!
Just an odd night for the Broncos offense. Could never get going.
Ahhh my childhood.
To very good teams stumbling around with boat load of talent. Lowery foot is going to be sore by the end of first half. Lol
19:20 gotta know where you are on the field at all times. That should've been a 99 yard touchdown pass/reception.
stupid Russell
Wade should have never been head coach.
2:29:00 "Al in his pouting position". Ha!
Rus D, do you have the 1993 Week 1 Kansas City vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers game?
I do and tried to post but got flagged by the NFL ... I might try again soon, just don't want another strike - just yet.
Ok, lol! Thank you!
Easily one of the most sloppily played games I've ever seen. The officials got more screen time than the players did.
As a fan of the Denver Broncos, this was disappointing
Vanessa Lynn Williams' peeps didn't come off no plantation either, yo!
So what was the grand total in penalties
Elway getting help from the Refs bc the crowd has to be the crappiest thing I've ever seen smh. What a pre-madonna baby! my gosh!
Crowd noise is aloud John... good grief
It was a new rule and he wasn’t the only QB to use it.
Back to back Superbowl champion baby haha 😂
pre madonna baby my balls you dumb chief
Absolutely I hated that shit! WTH?
Newly relevant as the supposedly gutless Chefs enter the postseason
This aged great. LMAO!
We'll beat the Bears, Thursday Night!
15-7 snoozefest..
Wow this was one of the worst games I may have ever seen, so. many. penalties.
1:07
….... embarrassing intro
Vanessa Williams was a popular artist at the time, but that song was about _two years old_ by then.
I still think it was a big mistake for the chiefs to get Joe Montana

Yea, it ranks right up there with drafting Derrick Thomas and signing Priest Holmes as biggest mistakes in franchise history.... 🙄

Montana brought tons of new fans that are still chiefs fans...he was worth it

I remember playing in this game. It was sloppy. I was the best one.
My goodness joe montana had some trash receivers in kansas city
TRUTH
JJ Birden is trash ? I disagree….
@DIMP11 he wasn't trash. Great hands. I shouldn't have said trash. Just not elite receivers. Also, Marty, great coach but way too conservative
