    The security zones is a very good addition so you can disable the sensors when you are at home. I also red the Bridge PRO has a local mode, executing scenes involving Zigbee devices even if the internet is down. Also take in consideration the old Bridge limit of 32 devices is in total, you would not be able to increase that by extending the zigbee network with ROUTER devices (repeaters).
    Regarding the Bridge Pro I've asked ITEAD and they mentioned you can add only 26 directly connected devices to the ZB Bridge PRO, so I guess you'll get to the 128 devices by adding routers and child devices.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was under the impression that adding routers to the network extends the number of devices. It's a mesh network which means sacrificing connection to a router device opens opportunity to add child devices to the router instead. I'll ask for clarification as well just to be sure.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are right. I confirmed this as well.
      I will pin this comment, as the information in the video about going beyond 128 isn't factual. Thanks for letting me know.

    hi there. awesome video. i hope you see this question. so you ares saying this new PRO HUB will not work with older xiaomi miija sensors back in the days? doe the OLDER SONOFF BRIDGE work with them? i have so many xiaomi window, body, water leakage, cube sensors that i would love to use witht the sonoff bridge and some other sonoff things. thanks in advance.

      Hello, It's not quite the case. Go for a custom coordinator, flash this or get a custom coordinator like CC2531 - for max compatibility. I have a couple videos on it. With standard firmware, Sonoff Bridge will only work with sensor types that are only available in ewelink ecosystem

    I believe that the only 'Pro' feature is the Scenes working w/o Internet... something that could be upgraded in the old version.

  • @philoso377
    @philoso377 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice presentation. As to the range differences, in favor to older version, I can confirm that previous model has a helical (3D) antenna of better efficiency both Tx and Rx, while the later model has printed (2D) antenna which is usually of lower efficiency.

  • @jcpuga1

    One thing I didn't like was not having triggers for alarms, which prevents you from activating an external siren, a great pity, because they don't sell an external siren, and that buzzer is very weak. You can work around creating scenes for each sensor, but the normal bridge would already do that, the alarm functionality is currently extremely limited.

    • @DiegoRodriguez-gx7yy
      @DiegoRodriguez-gx7yy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree, there’s no way to trigger real sirens nor other activators with Alarm triggers, just the internal buzzer 😢

    EFR32 is also capable of supporting a lot of devices. The bottleneck was due to the older CPU. So a much better solution would be an ewelink bridge with Ethernet, ESP32, and EFR32 inside.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wasn't it the memory that was the bottleneck on esp8266 on the old bridge? Perhaps this is why we see PSRAM on a new one. I'm with you on that.
      From a PRO unit I'd expect options like Ethernet mode, ability to run it as router and perhaps sprinkle some temp sensors and lights to make the hub more usable

  • @utubeanesh
    @utubeanesh 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Im really interested in security system around Sonoff. At present Im using a Ring system with external loud siren.
    For Sonoff to get into Security system, first they must have a loud outdoor siren, with Battery back up and tamper protection. Presense detection with Battery, Bridge with with Battery Back up, a portable rmergency Switch. Im waiting for such a system from Sonoff for long time and recently gone to Ring.

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could resolve this with a relay connected to a siren. If you use the relay between the battery and siren, and keep battery on a charging loop this is exactly what you would achieve. You could wire existing siren up this way too

    • @utubeanesh
      @utubeanesh 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@notenoughtech Yes, things are possible with engineering minds.
      I hope the finished products from companies like Sonoff will be easy to use and will require lesser maintenance.

      @notenoughtech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each ZigBee ecosystem usually comes with a dedicated router, although many us already have ZigBee enabled Alexa or similar. While usually it works just fine, for total device compatibility it's advised to use the router from the same ecosystem. This can be bypassed by custom coordinators.
