I don’t know if you’ll see this but I want to thank you for this song. I was just a little girl when my dad would play it a lot. My parents dealt with infidelity from each other once. One did it and the other did it out of vengeance and probably a broken heart. They divorced after that, I was 8 years old. But they always loved each other. They couldn’t make it work, but they always, always loved each other and they always let me know that. They were honest with me about those things. They both eventually moved on but I’m not sure my dad ever really got over my mother. She passed away when I was 17 and I know my dad will always have a place in his heart where she used to be that will never be filled. I’m 33 years old now and often when I miss my mother, I play this song. It’s a very sad, haunting song but it reminds me of the love my parents had for each other and for me. So I am really grateful that it exists. Thank you.
@Jason Davis no he isn't. You should use Google to verify your information before you decide to use it to be a dick to someone who was simply showing appreciation for a piece that has touched them deeply.
What a beautiful share. Thank you. So sorry for your loss, sweetheart. You lost your mom so young, I feel for you. You're still so young. I'd give you a "mom hug" right now if I could. xoxoxoxo
My absolute favorite country band ever!!!!! This song is so powerful and Mark sings it with so much passion and hurt in his voice, the perfect vocalist for this song for sure!!!!!!
I played in a band that opened for Sawyer Brown in Greensboro, NC in the late 90's. After sound check, I was sitting on stage playing around with this song on my acoustic guitar. One of Sawyer Brown's extra musicians, "Joe", came up and asked me if our band did this song. I said no, I was just messing around with it because I loved the acoustic playing in the song. He says, well let me show you how Mac plays it. Mac McAnally actually wrote the song. It was an awesome experience as I got a music lesson from a dude that played in the band, who showed me how the actual songwriter played it. It's one of those moments and memories you never forget. By the way, the version above is excellent!
“She made no excuse why she was lying there”. You can feel the weight of sadness fall upon the husband as he sees her unfaithfulness. What a crushing line.
All the lyrics are so sharp, so poignant. Even when the heart tugging lyrics of country songs are cheesy, I still love em, but this song manages to avoid the cheese trap. The lyrics go straight to the heart, piercing it in an earnest, authentic manner that's not at all treacly. A truly great song--written, performed and sung beautifully. I'll always love it.
I’m not a huge country fan but my god I’ve loved this song for decades now. One of my favorite ballads of all time. You wrote one hell of a song in this one. It’s truly perfect. Haunting. ❤
The Perfect Storm........... Those words, the music and that voice......Whether you've ever went through this or not, they make you feel like you have and that is one of the most rare gifts in the world. To take you out of where you are and transport you to another time and place.
Holy shit! When Miller came in with his vocals, I got chills. It was amazing!!! I ha e been a SB follower for damn near 40 years, and the guy has a completely unique voice, not to be copied or matched.
We saw Sawyer Brown about 25 years ago open for Brooks and Dunn and Reba, and Mark Miller and the band put on an incredible show. I have been a fan of theirs ever since. Great talent, and this song crushes me.
My hubby & I knew the song & songwriter.Don't get me wrong, this cover version is truly stunning. Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Bandmate Mac McNally (Lyman Corbitt McNally Jr) is who wrote "All These Years". More than half my life hadn't unfolded, when he wrote this in 92 (I'm 67) We heard another cover besides Sawyer Brown's... But wow they really conveyed this perfectly. The breaks in his voice left me speechless. Gonna save to a playlist, so I'll always have it to hear & remember. To the 33 year old who heard her dad play this record... Their shared love is what makes makes you so very special. Hug your dad for you & for us, one day. 🥲🥰
Released in November 1992, 1 month before my long time girlfriend and I parted ways under not very happy conditions. This song always brings me back to those sad days.
Thank you for this song me and my ex went our way and we lost our daughter in 2019 of November but we still talk about the good times we had love this song...
Sawyer Brown came to Norfolk NE, years ago when I was still......”still” married to my beautiful Wife. I thought I knew everything......I didn’t, and I lost her. I am still absolutely in love with her. All these years, pain, absolute truth in this song.
I can’t with this version. Every childhood memory flooding back. The first CD I ever bought. I didn’t even understand the depth of the song. I was 17, and would listen to it on repeat.
“We are at our loneliest when we have just experienced that person, place, or thing that we thought would bring is the ultimate experience…and it has let us down.”
One of their best. And the video brings a tear to your eye. The chorus applies to more then just a marriage, but to many things in life. “Still I’m here, and so confused. Now I finally see how much I have to lose, all these years.” Those few sentences meant so much to me. Thank you.
I never grew up listening to nor paying any attention to country music but sometimes it’s all about timing. I found country when the time was right for me. I’m 48 now and got into country in 1993 when I was 21. I was driving and was just in the frame of mind to get lost in a song and the right one came on (All These Years by Sawyer Brown) and it stayed in my ears, my mind, and in my heart for days afterward until I had to buy the CD. That’s how it started for me. I love how country songs paint vivid pictures and that each one is its own story.
Very underrated song. There's about ten or so country songs that I just love. Im into alternative, classic rock, and even rap/hip hop. But I know good songs regardless of the genre..
Thank you Mark. You guys are still my favorite band since I saw you in ‘89 at Camp Pendleton with Reba McEntire and Randy Travis. Thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do.
New station in my city just went to an 80s/90s country format and I'm LOVING it. Hearing songs I haven't heard in yrs because I don't do music apps, no time. But driving into work this week I heard this song that I always loved, and I was literally weeping in my car. Such an epic ballad. SB was great.
This song hits hard. I went through exactly what hes singing about and there is no hurt quite like this. 12 years and its still as fresh as if it happened yesterday. Thank you Marc and the boys for this. Very cathardic.
Sawyer Brown is not dead nor are the things that we survive in life, the told is a beautiful one and I lived the same story. At one time I thought the response was from one of my children, when you divorce young lady and you really love , it’s usually ego that starts the process and by the time it’s over the two people are perfect matches again and it’s very hard to not see it, other’s get involved and reck the chances of reconciliation so listen from an old man if you do have marriage problems don’t meet others during separation until it’s over, divorced! You will find out that what hurt you in the past won’t even matter to you when you’re older and myself I say everyday the path of leaving is so much worse than any problems I had with my wife, god bless ll that listen to my words you can’t start over at 50 it’s just not the same my wife was beautiful and we had beautiful memories and the woman I’m with now has no idea of me young as I don’t know her as a beautiful young woman and that matters.
"All these years.. Where have I been?.. well I've been down the road to work and home again. And I'm still here until I'm gone.. and don't you rub it in too hard the I've been wrong, all these years.." 😔😔
Some songs seem like they were meant for only one particular artist/group, and that artist takes that song and makes something truly great. This is a perfect example of that. Mac MacAnally wrote an amazing song, with a haunting melody and beautiful lyric, and a story that relates to people. Then Sawyer Brown comes in with Mark's vocals.... pure awesome. I could listen to it all day!
The most powerfully affecting song in Sawyer Brown's beautifully maturing artistic catalog. "All these years, what have I done? I made your supper and your daughter and your son..." Wow. Those lyrics cut so deep. Poignantly sung by Mark Miller and exquisitely played by the entire band. Kudos to Mac McAnally for writing such a heartbreaking, stunning tune and trusting SB to do it justice.
I agree 100%. The words are so unique, so haunting. I can't reconcile it, I can't stand 98% of country music. Oh but that 2%, you know which songs I mean. The ones that drive a pile-driver straight to your heart and soul. The cream of the crop, including "All These Years." In fact it's an insult to Sawyer Brown to classify "All These" as country or anything else. There's only one word for it: Masterpiece
🤯 mark… who hurt you brother? I can feel it too. This song sounded great when I was 5 but fast forward 30 years and now… now I understand. Each chord and lyric is emphasizing the pain. Thank you mark Miller and swayer brown. Y’all deserved to be more mainstream and time lasting than you were. I’ll help keep your music alive tho. 💪
Awesome, awesome , awesome... Love every SB song & I have every Cd. Love the unplugged songs as well!! Can you sing "This Night Won't Last Forever" Thanks so very much!!
Written by Mac McAnally and released on his 1992 album "Live and Learn". Many of his songs are set with dark imagery, but most are upbeat. Take a listen to "The Trouble with Diamonds", "Simple Life", "Down the Road", and "Back Where I Come From".
2024 and still one the most well written songs ever..
This is the sort of song that will bring you to your knees if you've survived to tell the tale. Powerful and sobering.
Agree 100%
Yes 💔
Amen

Thank you for telling us your story. Its hard to explain but this song reach’s people in a way and I’m glad it brings you peace 😀
first time hearing this song, perfect ,I have played it over and over, that voice is special, what a gift

One of the best country ballads
So overlooked .. Beautiful !
TOTALLY.
It was a Top 5 radio hit. Not overlooked.
One of the most haunting songs ever written. It doesn’t get any better then this.
“She made no excuse why she was lying there”. You can feel the weight of sadness fall upon the husband as he sees her unfaithfulness. What a crushing line.

This song gets me in the feels every single time. It has so much relevance to when my marriage was ending as it came out around the same time.
Still my fav country song of all time.....I never get tired of hearing it. And I agree....it hits...every. damn. time.
We saw Sawyer Brown about 25 years ago open for Brooks and Dunn and Reba, and Mark Miller and the band put on an incredible show. I have been a fan of theirs ever since. Great talent, and this song crushes me.
Beautifully powerful.... Heartbreaking..love..... Life. .....I love Sawyer Brown
Sounds better with age. My favorite SB song by far.
One of my favorite bands ever! 👏👏👏😖🥺😥😭
Wow! This song wiped me out 😪😪 "She said you're not the man you used to be, and he said neither is this guy". NO truer words.... Complete betrayal!
Everything about this song is excellent.
My favorite Sawyer Brown song. The vocals are just beautiful, as well as the music. Great job, guys!!! I am enjoying the unplugged series.

Whew! Memories ....Family!, America! I miss
Thank you for this song me and my ex went our way and we lost our daughter in 2019 of November but we still talk about the good times we had love this song...
One of the best written country songs ever
One of my favorite s of all time. Real life.... Thank you Sawyer Brown
So good. Life is such a trip. Failed marriage is such a part of our life.
Sawyer Brown came to Norfolk NE, years ago when I was still......”still” married to my beautiful Wife. I thought I knew everything......I didn’t, and I lost her. I am still absolutely in love with her. All these years, pain, absolute truth in this song.
They perform this song so beautifully. Mark and that gorgeous voice of his and Sawyer Brown are terrific...❤
I find myself singing this one all the time by myself. Very beautiful but sad song.
Wow! Just wow! One of my all time favorites!
The song that made me fall in love with you guys back in the 80's,TY, love you always!!!
Man, this is one of the first country songs that got me into the genre at 19. Sounds like you all haven’t aged. Fantastic.
Best country group bar none.
Perfection!! I've always loved this song
I still love your music and you Sawyer
You all did such an awesome job with this song. In 92 I unfortunately was living this song. It cut deep.
One of their best. And the video brings a tear to your eye. The chorus applies to more then just a marriage, but to many things in life. “Still I’m here, and so confused. Now I finally see how much I have to lose, all these years.” Those few sentences meant so much to me. Thank you.
Memories of an old friend, a talented musician, who sang a cover of this song…many years ago…
I never grew up listening to nor paying any attention to country music but sometimes it’s all about timing. I found country when the time was right for me. What an awesome version of one of my absolutely favorite Sawyer Brown songs.
I’ve loved this song since I first heard it ! God it’s powerful! Still hits home now ! Beautifully done .
New station in my city just went to an 80s/90s country format and I'm LOVING it. Hearing songs I haven't heard in yrs because I don't do music apps, no time. But driving into work this week I heard this song that I always loved, and I was literally weeping in my car. Such an epic ballad. SB was great.
Great song..I remember parking cars at Lanier Land in Forsyth county Ga..I got to see a ton of great country artists
This song hits hard. I went through exactly what hes singing about and there is no hurt quite like this. 12 years and its still as fresh as if it happened yesterday. Thank you Marc and the boys for this. Very cathardic.
Beautiful artist talented band so enjoy all these years❤
Wow. I haven't heard this song in years. Many years. I like it even better now. Nailed it guys. Bravo!
This song always makes me cry. It's so powerful. We'll miss you at the end of June this year but we will see you next year! Stay safe and healthy! ❤
First country band I saw live hooked after that! Phoenix Az state fair!! 🥰🇺🇸✌
That voice. Saw SB back in the day. Great show.
All these years later and this songs still gets me right in the feels
Mark is the man!!! Awesome vocals.

Here it is 2024 and this song still sends chills up my spine.
Such an underrated song.
This song is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard!! So much said about the pain and loss of trust and Love!!!
Best live band/show I’ve ever seen!! If you get a chance don’t pass it up!!
One of my favorite Bands

Damn he sounds just as good live
No autotune needed with real talent! I miss the days when country was great. So sad what they call country music today.
This one hits right where it hurts!
This song is hard to listen to. But it let's me know I wasn't the only one to go through it.
Beautiful, compelling voice. Makes a person wonder why you haven't done this unplugged series sooner.
"All these years.. Where have I been?.. well I've been down the road to work and home again. And I'm still here until I'm gone.. and don't you rub it in too hard the I've been wrong, all these years.." 😔😔
This voice never changes....takes me back so many decades. The best band ever.
This is how some relationships are. When it is they stay 2gether 4 the kids. It doesn't matter how miserable they are.
Some songs seem like they were meant for only one particular artist/group, and that artist takes that song and makes something truly great. This is a perfect example of that.
