All these years later I’m getting choked up with nostalgia and an adult understanding of how serious it is. I now feel connected with Angela’s character rather than just the little girl/big sister. I can imagine how much hope and fear channeled through our good witch’s mind as she did all she could to protect her homeland and family. She’s leading the charge of CENTURIES of brave people who fought for their homeland just like her.
I'm literally crying at this scene... I watched at 3 years old for the first time!!! All October I was trying to see this scene again after a mediocre show's weekend it's saddest me her departure... God bless her...
This scene is one of my absolute favorites of all time. It carries so much weight seeing the massive force of animated armor lining up in preparation for a battle against evil. If Kingdom Hearts ever gave this movie tribute, it should be the armor army as a summon.
@@californiaslastgasp6847 The ones actively engaged in genociding MULTIPLE entire ethnicities. Soldiers always regret having to have fought, having to have killed But I guarantee if you ask them if the cause they fought for was worth it... they'd say YES.
As a kid, I never really got how truly badass (is that okay to say about a Disney film?) this scene is. When I was little, I of course didn't understand Nazis or WWII, so I never really got the depth of how vital it was for this spell to work. As an adult now, I can see clearly how much hangs in the balance. Add to that the fact Angela Lansbury doesn't know if the spell will work, or (maybe worse yet) even if it does, she's not quite sure what will happen next and if she can even control it. That's a lot of tension built up at the beginning of this scene. Then when it does come together it does it so masterfully. But damn, I wish this clip was a little longer and included the soldiers' chant. I mean, DAMN. That was awesome.
I disagree. First of all, this small expeditionary force of the nazis stood no chance at all of conquering England. Second of all, if it WAS important, it would be a battle there would be records of, and it would be listed alongside the battle of the bulge, the battle of britain and D day. There literally was nothing in the balance here. This was an excursion of a small force into the freaking WILDERNESS in the UK for no particular reason. It would have made no difference in the outcome of WWII.
@@medexamtoolscom But it would have scared the metaphorical crap out of the German High command when they discover that a bunch of outdated military equipment came to life a whoop the asses of some of their men

A moment of appreciation for the amazing collection of armour and weaponry in that small town museum 😂 quite the collection, the curators should be proud of it
I like how it is a whole mixture of historic soldiers - Heptarchy? - Viking/Saxon Medieval Civil War Royalists Hanoverians (the GR for the first Georges)
To be perfectly fair, that museum was supposed to be a castle, and since we never see the whole thing there could be whole heaps of stuff hidden away in other floors or rooms.
It's more than that, during the German Blitz of England, the British evacuated many of their relics from cities to rural locations like the castle in this movie so they wouldn't be bombed into oblivion. It's also partly why the the children themselves are there, to escape the bombing
i love you for posting this!! I shed a tear as it brought back some awesome childhood memories of watching this with my little brother while mom was in the kitchen making snacks and then us watching it again at grandma's house! :*)
Every time those bagpipes start wailing I just automatically throw a salute it has always been my favorite scene when I was a child. HaHa Scottish power, the Germans are defenseless against the march to the pipes.
I must say, if this had really happened in the Second World War it would have been so cool - the enemy getting beaten by knights in armour and old war costumes!
Closest thing you could compare it to is in the Great war at the Battle of Mons where at least according to BEF soldiers present (and even some Germans) an army of long bow wielding Angel's descended upon the Germans and with arrows of light drove them off. Course it being a legendary event and scepticism being what it and all.

Flying Beds, Witches, Talking Fish, Talking Animals that play soccer, and to top it all off Floating Suits of Armor fighting Nazis. That is why Bedknobs and Broomsticks is one of the greatest movies of all time!
I like that one very ancient suit of armor with the wings on the helmet and etc, even if it is likely very unhistorical. I wonder if it's supposed to be from the Celts or the Saxons (or similar ancient Germanic cultures).
Well and I could be mistaking, that the Gauls was used for the majority of the western Europe tribes, but like I said not sure and its around the time period where that helmet would fit, plus I have no idea how the Bits were called during that time period.
Hivedragon IIRC "Britons" was originally the (Roman) term for the Celts of Britain that were Brythonic or Goidelic rather than Gaelic. So, they'd have had a language and culture like that of the Welsh and Cornish, but not the Irish and Scots. Arthur was considered a Briton and enemy of the Saxons (which makes the English having him as their folk hero a little ironic). But the Gauls were mainly in France and certainly never came to the British Isles.
+king of coolness I counted: English knights in melee fighting. Possibly some vikings in there as well, sometimes armour makes it hard to tell as a non-history major. English(?) longbowmen providing ranged support. Redcoats were there, but didn't seem to fire their guns... good point!
Different countries would have different military uniform armies. The US one would include Revolutionary War uniforms, Union and Confederate uniforms. France's would include musketeer uniforms, Napoleonic war uniforms. Japan's would have samurai armor. etc.

Apparently that sleep town had one hell of a museum.
Look up Arundel. Small old market town with pubs, antiques, and book shops... and a f*#$ off big castle...
That's kinda what Britain's like
There's a tonne of history in England, it's amazing when Americans are fascinated by everything when they're here
It's possible that they were sent from larger museums in the cities.
My theory is that to protect historical items, many were shipped to smaller locations (like the children were) for safekeeping.

It is most likely it has to do with Gauls era of history and seeing the helmet it was probably a chieftain's armor.
