    I'm fascinated by how smooth you guys can get a wall with just a trowel and a few sprays of water. I believe it's all about the feel, knowing just how much pressure to apply and holding the trowel at the right angle. My son's quite good at it, but I've never got past the stage of putting on render between 2 battens! Your work is a pleasure to watch.

    Wouldn't it have been better to use bonding to do your ceiling curves just a thought, good video.

      Thanks Roy 👍 You certainly can use bonding, and they are easier to plaster if you do bond them first but sometimes it can be more time efficient to just use multi finish, depending on the curve and what materials are available of course 👍

    Like it ,be good to see u on the finishing process that’s where mainly most people struggle on when to hit the plaster, a side view on camera trowel angles etc 👍👍👍

    Is a base coat not needed with plasterboard with this finish coat?

    • @plasteringguru572
      @plasteringguru572  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your question Nick Weith. On plasterboard it’s usually just the two coats of multi finish plaster for the finish coat 👍

    Maybe silly question..would you have to pva plasterboard or any sort of adhesive?
    Cheers

      On new clean plasterboard you don’t need to apply any PVA, however if it’s old board or dirty then, yes I would suggest PVA. 👍

    Have you ever used Knauf Goldband? I'm trying to figure out if it'll go directly onto plasterboard.

    • @plasteringguru572
      @plasteringguru572  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lorraine Smith, I haven’t used that before but I would imagine it would go directly onto plasterboard, as long as it’s fresh clean board. Plasterboards have microscopic pores for the plastic to stick too. Might be worth mixing a small amount up and trying it on a sample piece of plasterboard 👍

      @@plasteringguru572 Thank you so much for that, I really appreciate it! The plasterboard has easyfill on bits of it, so I'll PVA those first. It's not the cleanest board, so maybe PVA over all of it would be safer. Thanks again!

      Lorraine Smith in that case I think you are very wise to PVA . Good luck with it 👍

      Daniel Smith carpet protection roll at a guess pal

    • @plasteringguru572
      @plasteringguru572  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can get carpet protection (usually clear) hardfloor protection (red and less sticky) and window protection (often blue, not always) 👍

    Did you flatten the plaster with the speedskim immediately after laying it on or did you wait for it to pick up?

    • @plasteringguru572
      @plasteringguru572  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi BODGE71 thanks for your question. It was a warm day so I could flatten it straight away. I only tent to use a speed skim to flatten the first coat. I hope that helps 👍

    Should you have painted PVA bonding on the walls.

    • @plasteringguru572
      @plasteringguru572  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Adreen Ryan, thanks for your question. Plastering over new plaster board walls doesn’t actually need any PVA....however if the plasterboard walls are painted or really old then I definitely would PVA them. 👍

      @@plasteringguru572 I discovered to my panic that old plasterboard does have quite a bit of suction over time.
