The introduction to Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, one of the most important works in keyboard history. Through his two books of 24 Preludes and Fugues, one for each minor and major key, Bach showed the world the possibilities of equal temperament, which is still used in almost all music written today, from classical, to rock, to pop. This concept of writing pieces in all 12 keys went on to inspire other composers too, from Chopin and Liszt, to Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich.

I believe this was published in 1722, so just over 300 years ago. That's before electricity, audio recordings, cars, planes, steam trains, phones, and most modern medicine. For me this is what is so incredible about classical music. The way it affects our brains hasn't changed. In another 300 years, people will still be listening to this.

I used to love really hard a girl years ago that tried to play this because she knew I was playing piano and that I was fond of classical music.
We eventually broke up and not so long time ago I couldn't even hear this song without remembering her negatively. During that time I really lost my mental and got into a depression, because of the break up but also because of a lot of unfortunate events that chained with that. Now I'm on peace, and re-listening to that brings me huge nostalgia of a very determinate past time of my life that I won't forget ever. Maybe this girl hurt me as much as good, maybe that I idolized her too much, and that today she no longer think about me anymore, but everything is forgiven and I know I will die with no hard feeling and regret.
    Music isn't just melody, it's a lifetime.

Major generally sounds 'happy' and minor sounds 'sad'. So basically it has an overall happy sound with an occasional sudden sad turn. I think that's what gives it the slightly sinister feeling...

Now, how can Little Star (12 Variations composed by Mozart) be considered easy? Sure with enough practice, it would seem fairly easy after knowing how to play it with both hands and not just one specifically, but it's certainly not an easy piece. Not for me at least. This is the most nostalgic piece of mine. I remember when I was first learning the piano when I was six years old. I was always into pop music, but when I had my first lesson, my piano teacher showed me a genre that I never engaged in - classical music, this piece was the first one I learned. After every lesson on every Wednesday, my father would drive me home, picking up pizza for us to eat. My love for classical music came from this piece, so I always owe this piece a listen when times are rough, reminiscing about memories of long ago.

One of my favorite Bach compositions.
This was the first song I played at a piano competition.

I just started learning piano at the beginning of this summer. This was a piece that was intorduced to me in the book, but only the first 16 stanzas. Thansk to this video, I ended up learning the entire piece and it is now become my favorite piece to play to warm up when I start playing. It's such a deceptively simple piece, a wonderful beginning to learning all that I possible can for piano.
