- This ship came as a big surprise to me.
I had very poor stats in it and I fully expected it to be crap. I was wrong.

When Flambass look at the equipment and he said no torps and i see the torp launchers.
I was 🤦🤦.
NGL...he's been doing some things like that recently where he just blurts something thinking he is right when that is clearly not the case and it's getting kind of annoying. Like, there were SO many ways to see that ship has torps.
Another example is from a video a few days ago. Ranked battle in his JB. There was a friendly Alaska that he thought stopped on a rock on purpose when that Alaska clearly accidently grounded himself.
Nothing personal against him, I'm sure he isn't doing it on purpose. But c'mon Flambino, lets work on that situational awareness.

@@joescott778 Yeah you're probably right. I always liked flambass because he seemed like a level headed dude, more relatable. But recently it seems like he's letting the unicum part of his gameplay get to his head.

I hold the current world damage record in the Devonshire at over 210k. This ship is vastly underrated. I quit playing my Leander after I discovered how potent it was.

Flambass only sets two of the fires on the Dallas, now the Nurnberg at 10:30, Flambass sets both the single fire that was extinguished and then three perma fires on the next volley.
i liked the devonshire, its challenging to play but it was fun
though id rather play something else with range

You got all the RNG there. I never set that many fires with way more hits when I play it and manage to live long enough to see the end of a match because carriers make life miserable for this thing. You get spotted by planes and then nuked by ships you cant even see.
I really like Devonshire, she's one of my favourite T6 ships.
I love the design of this ship, and during the Clan Battles season of Tier VI, I played her a ton. She never disappoints in terms of fire damage, and her AP is surprisingly very good.

I love the Devonshire. It's HE does really well and I found the armour to actually hold up against most battleship AP, though it was kind of inconsistent as normally you'd receive 2-3k damage a shot but sometimes you would get slapped for 15k. It's good against DDs but its bane, apart from the range that can be a pain but you can manage, is other cruisers. Their much better DPM means that even your good HE doesn't kill them fast enough, your AP is pretty lackluster and your armour is totally useless against fast firing HE. In a bit of a summary: DD's get slapped, BBs are turned into barbeques (Especially lightly armoured ones like the New Mexico), cruisers are a bit of an issue so be careful (especially from the Italian SAP), you need to utilise your concealment, maneuverability, angle your armour as broadside as possible while still able to bounce shells (this minimises BB shells going straight through your bow into your citadel and can bounce shells of your thicker belt armour) while using islands to stay safe, all while staying in range, though you don't generally want to brawl.
It's a bit of a shame that the ship that you get next, the Surrey, is a very, very slightly better Devonshire but one tier higher

The problem with the whole ship line is that they can't be shot at, you get citadels from all angles and if get focused especially by a tier 8 carrier you're dead. Your gameplay is basically hide behind cover and try to shoot over it, but the thing is that the US line is just better at that because of the ballistics.

devonshire was one of my best experiences in the UK heavy cruiser line, the next one, Surrey....not so much. I guess things get back to good-ish with the drake
Surrey ain't bad, just not a lot better than the Devonshire and facing higher tiers.
I ran Capt. Jingles up the UK CA's, he is on the Surry now, but the Dev is a very good CA for making the red ships ask if it is a good idea.

I think they must have done something to that ship recently. I remember when it came out it was such ass. Couldn't pen anything, couldn't start fires and blown out of the water by someone pissing on the hull.
Hey Flambass, must be nice having RNGesus on your side. If I had even 1/10th the RNG you seem to have, I'd be a much better player. I just recently took my Hindy out for a CB match, fired 63 HE shells and got 0 fires. Meanwhile the lone Moskva I faced in that said match got 4 fires on me over a similar number of shells fired.
I love Devonshire. It is a little brawler, it isn't a tank but still will take a punch and it slugs people close up.
It's got no torps, no smoke, and only one second better reload. This potato ship . . . . .oooooh it gets torps.

This vid allowed me to prove that I have bad rng: out of all my atago games recently, I got no more than 5 fires out of 70 hits with the same fire chance as the Devonshire
The higher you go, the more fire resistance ships get by default. Also captain skills/equipment/flags/camos are much less used at lower tiers.

All British cruisers share the same issues, it's just that some of their builds work around it, whilst some (All the "heavies") suck so damn hard because they don't have the armour to play the way they try to lean into.

Devonshire is just a strange little duck in T6. Its not super scary to anyone but....when it keeps lighting you on fire, and everyone else you love on fire...you start paying attention to it more.

English heavy cruiser AP is *_the_* single most disappointing ammo choice in the entire game. I can count the number of citadels I ever got with that on a single finger.

The problem is that Devonshire is built out of explodium. London, with smoke, is what the ship should be. Devonshire requires reeeeeeeeally careful handling.

Devonshire's AP is actually good particularly against Tier VI and VII cruisers but against tier VIIIs it's kinda meh.

Brother Flam, is allowed to make a mistake, 'OVERSIGHT' as it were, I play a lot of WOWS and am know to get things confused more often than not, I am sure that some of the board laying out the 'this & that' had a back & forth on dose it need this vs that.

I think my Minsk has better gun range than Devonshire. The Surrey is the reason I rarely play the British CA line. I just don't want to put up with the suffering required to get past it. HMS Sh*tbox.

That first enemy team. 4 BBs and a CV still alive and they lost from having 0 points? Impressive. Second wasn't much better.
Good illustration of why HE is such a stupidly powerful and poor design, along with being able to destroy BBs by spamming their superstructures. BBs have lost out over time to the point where their damage mitigation is worth fk all, which is one powerful reason why removing DeadEye still isn't going to make them push.
Meanwhile it's nice to see WG's MM contains all the flaws pointed out during Alpha.
Told them what they ought to change and how to do it based on my VERY extensive experience with WoT MM (on which of course the WoWS one is based), but of course they don't care about 'testers' and our feedback; we were drones whose sole purpose was grinding data for the almighty spreadsheet.
Thus you get bottom tier both times, and the second has 3 tier 6 cruisers in battles with 4 tier 8 BBs. Easily fixed if WG gave a shit, which we know they don't.

Not verry realistic. This will not help New players paling the ship as it should.
Having played Devonshire quite a bit starting with a 3 point captain up to (iirc, been a while a 15 point captain) the captain skills help a bit, but it's still a pretty decent ship even with a low skill captain. She requires good planning and careful playing but can put out quite a punishing amount of damage if you get her in a good position even with a low skill captain.
Sad thing is one potato nullifies all of this.

How many times can you put a cursor over "Torpedoes" and say "No torps" :-)? Often find Edinburgh has lots of overpens. If you want a hard time try playing Cheshire :-)! Goliath can do huge HE/fire damage.

No Torps he says like 5 times as he looks directly at the torps as he goes through the stats... The ship has 0 exp meaning he has never played it, says he has played it yet didn't know it has torps and it has 0 exp.
He probably lost the xp when resetting the line/converting for fxp by accident. It happens

This tier 6 ship has better range than Flint or Smolensk.
"AP is pretty disapointing" Such is WoWS HE is just better or at least more consistent. Still if you fighting a ship with actual armor (IE a battleship or a heavy cruiser) AP can be useful. Remember if your HE has enough pen you can still get citadel hits with it.

I somehow won the devonshire after it's Release and I don't find it that bad. I mean it hits like a truck and if you face your front to the enemy it's still deals decent damage while reducing incoming. Also always fire HE.
