So dumb (sorry).... The BIG12 lost its top (6) and is now the worst P4 (by far) ~yet~ the ACC will fully scatter if it "only" loses CLEMSON and FSU?
The new BIG12 is already too large/wide for a Tier 2. No purpose served by getting even larger/wider.

It would make more sense just to try to rebuild the Big XII brand instead of this obsession with expansion?
It’ like, if the Big XII does not grade Fla State, Clemson and other AC teams right away, then the Big XII is not good.

Why would FSU or Clemson move to the BIG 12 when the ACC is paying them more money now? The primary reason for the lawsuits is their claim that the ACC has fallen behind in negotiating a competitive media rights deal and therefore they should be entitled to leave. Joining the BIG 12 after that would be moving backwards, they'd get more money out of finding proper ACC expansions right now and sticking around.

      a) Wow! And ND hockey is in the B1G and NEB was AAU when it joined the B1G. This story is now ~3 years old. Everyone knows that ACC relationship with ESPN.
      b) The ACC also has relationships with the ACCN and The CW through sub-contracts, etc.
      c) It's an open question whether a non-renewal auto-voids the GOR. FSU's assertions have yet to be judicially confirmed. Moreover, actual recent events suggest that ESPN has already agreed to renew absent weird stuff.
      d) The ACC's deal is known to be deeply discounted, so it can likely tolerate the loss of UNC, CLEMSON & FSU. The BIG12 lost its top 6 (net), so serves as a benchmark.
      e) ESPN renews the ACC deal at the current discounted rate for the same reason is negotiated with the new BIG12.
Honestly, this has all been discussed ad nausea for a very long time.

The ACC’s average distribution to its 14 full members “increased 9.7%" to $39.4M, while revenue "climbed 6.7%" to $617M, according to David Teel of the RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH. For all the "hand-wringing over the ACC’s long-term contract with ESPN," television rights "were the driving force” for the increases, rising 11.7% to $443.7M. The conference's TV revenue has “more than doubled in the past seven years and figures to increase markedly again in 2022-23,” the "first full fiscal year in which the nation’s leading cable provider, Xfinity/Comcast, carried the ACC Network." Yet even as the ACC trends upward, the Big Ten and SEC “continue to dominate college athletics’ relentless, and often exhausting, financial arms race” and that revenue gap has “long hovered over the ACC.” ACC ADs have “crafted a plan to abandon the conference’s decades-old policy of essentially sharing all revenue equally."
