I am a 76 year old who will never stop caring about how I look, and I have wavy/curly hair that is super fine and thin. I wear a curly bob that I usually air dry after putting in styling products and scrunching. I would really love to see some curly bob videos!
This is my favorite video, not just from you, but of all time!! With a fine, pin straight, 58yrold hair, blunt, short bob - it is impossible to not use heat in the morning. No bonnet, satin scrunchie or pineapple on top of my head ability here!! I watched y’all again this morning and used some fresh tips on my day two hair!! Thank you!!!
Bravo! Best practical hair styling video for those of us with straight bob haircuts. To be able to maintain well styled hair over 4 days without shampooing is possible. What a time saver and still feel polished and put together. Thank you, thank you!!
Fabulous video! One of your best! Thanks for creating. Dionna's part was the "icing on the cake". She gave me so many helpful suggestions to try 🙂 I actually like her day 4 style the best . . . but that's probably because I really like curlier styles (lol).
Dionna a is adorable and I watched her carefully. I keep learning things as I watch your videos. You’re a good teacher! 👍👍👍. You both get big thumbs up 👍👍👍
Thanks to your videos and information I have gone through 6 stylist but finally found one I can communicate with correctly and I now have a bob I love!! It’s been a process and you were a big part of it. Love these additional styling tips ❤
I have a bob that is slightly stacked in back and found it very interesting and helpful to learn the proper way to hold the curling iron. My hair always seem to have a larger curl on the end than desired. That straight wrist tip looks as if it would solve that issue. Thanks!
I have almost waist length hair, perfectly straight. I was thinking about getting it cut, but no more. I need a completely fuss-free style, no curling iron or anything needed. Too old for all that. I do wear ponytails a lot and will curl the last 3-4 inches to give it bounce and movement. My bangs used to give me fits, but I accidentally found that blow drying them backwards makes them perfectly straight when I bring them down from the blow-back position. That’s the only time I blow dry my hair, unless maybe in the winter if it’s just too cold to let it air dry. That’s very rare tho. I’m just not a blow dryer fan. I only use a wide-toothed pick on my wet hair too and always start at the ends to detangle after a shampoo. This is my second time growing out my hair to waist length, and beyond on the first time. I’ve heard this can’t be done when you’re old. Well, I’m 75 and I’ve done it twice ! My hair is gray and silver. Wish it was all silver tho, but the growing out process would no doubt be a hassle to keep up with. I keep hoping it’ll just naturally start all growing out silver like my mom’s did, but I doubt it will happen. She was a natural blonde, I had naturally black hair. My silver streaks are nicely placed tho, so I’m happy with that. I have quite an unusual look when my hair is all pulled back. But anyway, love your videos and tips ! You’re great, and your wife is just soooo pretty ! Blessings m, GG.
Thank you! You're so kind! I love that you've figured out what works best for you. I hope the color turns a bit more for you but I'm sure it's beautiful as it is too! Thanks for hanging out with us today!
You’re not alone. I love watching all these videos and the styles, but I know myself. I am not going to blow it dry. I am not going to curl it. I keep it healthy and shiny. I’m 62 and my hair is almost waist length. I work in a surgery center and my hair is stuffed in a scrub cap all day anyway. But I do learn stuff from Justin’s videos.
This was such a helpful video! Can you please explain how Dionna dealt with the separation in the back (timestamp 1:32). This is something I struggle with every 2nd day! Thanks!
I have the same issue! It just looks a lot worse on me (like a bold spot) since my hair is super fine. The only solution I come up with is a pony tail, hehe

@@justinhickox Exactly what kimgordon3695 suggested! I have curly hair and I almost always straighten it because I can 5 or 6 days out of it. If I wear it curly, I only get 2 days out of it.
@@justinhickox As kimgordon replied, a curly hair refresh would be great! My hair is wavy/curly and I usually straighten it. This will last me about 5 or 6 days but if I wear my hair curly, it only lasts 2 days. Can you please help?
Great job, Dionna! What a beautiful smile you have!! I wish I could go 4 days without shampooing. I don't have a bob anymore. My fine hair is short but not a pixie. I use volumizing mousse or spray and enough hairspray that the style is locked in. I can go 2 days without shampooing. I have gone 3 with dry shampoo and some dry texturizing spray but I just hate the "feel" of it not being clean. It's the products fault! ☺️
She did awesome right! You're not alone, lots of people dont like the feeling pf product. This is going to sound crazy but, one option for that is to use a super light oil....just a little bit, and rub it through your hands then work it through your mid shaft to ends. Depending on the oil, that can actually make the hair feel MUCH softer and like it has half the product in it. I know.....use MORE product to feel like less product! LOL.
My hair is long, mid back. These are great tips, I need to try a dry shampoo or texturizing spray at my roots for a little more lift at the roots and body

OMG, you guys remind me of my husband and I. I have very fine, wavy hair (S-type). I can't imagine putting all of these products into my hair, even over the course of several days. It would be flat & limp. What are your product recommendations for my hair type in using Dionna's system? P.S. I just live SW of Sunriver if you ever need an unrelunctant guinea pig!
I loved the video and different ideas on day 2, 3 or 4, i just wish my hair would look like that after day 1, i have to tie it back as scared of using the straighteners to much on my fine, thin hair!! Well done!
Hi Justin and Dionna! I love watching all of your videos! This was a good tutorial to stretch your washed hair out for a few days. I did purchase one of the blumene micro devices when you introduced it ( I think in August) I got it then for $75. I use it in the evening when I’m watching tv. I do notice a difference in my jawline and will keep on using it. I didn’t know they would be coming out with a #2 so soon. Thank you for all you do! 💕😊🙋♀️🇨🇦
Thanks for this video. Every time I watch a video I have a little more confidence to attempt curling my hair. I usually wear it straight but it's so fine and thin I need to volume of curls or waves..is more what I want. I do still worry about putting heat on my hair daily..it's grey and fine.
Love this!! My fine is oily on the 2nd day so this will help. No way I could get 3 days as I have a lot od hai fall. I used to wash & blowout my hair every day, it’s was very healthy & shiny and very little fall out. What do you recommend?
Justin, first of all, I really appreciate your tps to help my Bob. My fine hair has a real tendency to become oily. Therefore I am fearful of using the hair oil. I am also because of a disability I can no longer do my own hair and must go to have it done twice a week. Also, doesn’t it make your hair a little greasy? I do not remember if you described what type of hair this woman, mine is very thin and fine. If you have time would you please take the time to answer my concerns ?
My hair is a tiny little bit shorter and this tips were very helpful!! I have one big request: Ball season is starting and since I don't have any hair to put up, I need tips to style my short hair elegantly.... 😊
Well my husband likes my hair when it looks like the "before" on Day 2. ❤ I love these tips but I'm having an asthma attack just thinking of using all those products.😢
I hear ya. You can try using just a heat protectant. Depending on your hair, you may be able to get the style. Most of the time I fond some product is needed to really get the style to hold and combat the oil production, but never hurts to try without first!
What thickening volumizer is she using? She's spraying it in, but the WOW product listed in your description is a foaming mousse. I went out and bought it and it's not what I wanted.
I would love to see a video on bobs for fine and thin hair. Im trying to grow my puxie out and need some encouragement from just cutting it all off. I don't even know if i will look good in a bob or if my hair can actually do a bob without just looking stringy. I need help😊
It definitely helps. Usually when it’s wet prior to drying not between each tool if that makes sense. Ie, you wouldn’t need to spray it on wet hair, dry it, then add more before you flat iron it etc.
@justinhickox great thank you Justin. So on my day 4 ish hair when I want to add curl I don't need to use heat protection spray onto my dry hair. Obviously I used it after I washed my hair on day 1. Love your work, keeping us ladies feeling great about ourselves. Greetings from Cornwall UK
OK, I used Dionna’s tips and was able to style my day 3 bob with that kinda natural, messy look. I have attempted to style it this way 2 other times after my hair stylist first did it on me. Finally! 👍
My hair stylist says not to use any heat tools on hair that’s been sprayed with hairspray. It seems like Dionna’s hair was sprayed with hairspray. What’s your advice?
Great question. REALLY glad you brought that up. If your hair is really porous, bleached blonde, very light, white etc. depending on the product, it could yellow your hair a bit. Honestly, probably something I should have hit on in the video and I just missed it. With that said, you wouldn't be doing this every day as it's just a process we're using for 4th day etc when you may need the extra hold.

No tips for those of us with fine, oily hair? I can only skip 1 day of washing (and it won't feel good on the 2nd day so it bothers me even if it is presentable) and there's no way I could keep adding product to it like that.
I've trained my scalp to produce less oil by gradually spacing out the time between shampoos. If it's a hot day and I'm sweaty or I've been outside in dirty city air I just rinse with plain warm water on nonshampoo days.
This sounds like a grant idea, but I exercise each morning, so have to at least rinse my hair after m workout, even if I don’t shampoo. So I have to style from wet each (work) day.
I love her hair. My biggest issue is I don’t know what to do with my bangs. They get too oily so I wind up washing more than the rest of my hair needs.
I couldn’t hear the name of the device she used to avoid heat - it was about 2+ minutes into the video. Looked like a hair dryer but must be different?
Hi Justin I’m not commenting on this video but i’ve been dying to ask you specifically this question...I know you’ve done videos on this topic tons of times the problem with people my age it’s hard to work the Social Media world. So Abbey Yung an influencer a few weeks ago had a whole video on hair brushes like you she tested 20+ hair brushes from low-middle to high end cost ranges. Although she didn’t say that everybody who watched her video should buy The Mason Pearson brush - she admitted at the end of the video that if you have the $$$$ it’s worth the investment? I love her hair. My biggest issue is I don’t know what to do with my bangs. They get too oily so I wind up washing more than the rest of my hair needs.
Just wash your bangs
Muchas gracias!! Dios lo bendiga enormemente....
Did you lighten your hair?
Dionna did but mine is just grey! LOL.
Great video!

You’re so welcome! I’m glad you liked it. Did it help?
Meilleur shampoing sec ?

You’re my HAIR person/guy on TH-cam so I’m posing the same question to you - so if you have the $$ should you invest in the Mason Pearson brush??
