IT's always interesting to see how real vocal coach reacts to your favorite singers. It's my first time reaction to Dimash, and I'm blown away. In this video, I'm breaking down the song, and highlighting some important vocal elements. DIMASH AMAZED ME, made me drink a full glass of water, and and left me with so many questions. When he hit puberty and his voice changed, his choir buddies all moved to make sections. But there weren’t enough sopranos left so he was asked to sing with the first sopranos. However once he joined the Aktobe Music College, he was trained as a tenor. Then at the National University of Arts he majored in jazz and contemporary music. That man can add vibrato to a D8, I've never heard anyone better, and I'm not sure I ever will. He's a once per century, perfect-storm singer. Every single condition, skill, and bit of dedication that man has its just perfection as far as I understand the term.

I know. It’s one o’clock in the morning. I woke up after several hours sleep, and immediately turned on Dimash. Lord only knows when I’ll get back to sleep. This is a pattern for the last year ever since I discovered Dimash. 🙄. As to the reaction: so good! The detail and how she brings it back to lessons for singers is terrific. It’s obvious that he sings live. I can’t understand those who say he doesn’t. They’re jealous I guess.
They talk about sinful passion. Supposedly the 25 s run sounds exacly the same on multiple presentations.
Because it's soo good, they can't believe it's sung live.
He started his training at 5, he is currently 26 I believe, and practices every day for at least 3 hours

Ann Souren Teachers... he has had many. Got his masters in composing last June and was recommended to do his doctorate in composing, what he certainly will do. He will study forever I guess, being the best student. I also think his stage presence is outstanding.

You just watched his first major exposure to the world. Keep in mind, he was an interesting guy from Kazakhstan before this one performance, and then he got 650 MILLION hits on China's social media and fried the country's internet. That was directly after this performance, and is just gotten better and more skilled from there.

He is classically trained (starting at 5!) and his mom is an opera singer also, I’m sure she had a lot of knowledge on how to keep his voice. My request for next would be “Opera 2” since it’s what made him go viral.

Oh God you edited the part with the mixed F#5 out , why ??? I already know so without much talking l want you to know that he was unknown and pretty much a wild card before this performance that's why they used some effects on his voice and even the president of the Chinese pop musicians association was mad about that , they don't do that to his later performances on the show . He did hold Bb5 for 22 seconds with runs and riffs in a live performance & his highest mixed note is C6 . The F#5 in SOS is nothing to him but a joke and he has videos online where he hits the same note at the same part of the song in concerts in 7 countries and even acapella . I loved your reaction and comments and I can't wait for your Dimash journey , just subscribed .

Welcome to the world of Dimash💜😁💜. This was in 2017 when he was 22 yrs old. He just turned 26 this past May. He is just becoming better known in the West as he had a solo concert in NY this past Dec. filled the Barclay Center and overflow with 19,000 people from many different countries and nationalities!! Dimash is a huge humanitarian and very deeply rooted in his culture and values. He also does not follow one music genre and considers himself nei-classical.

You are correct, he was able to preserve his light voice because he has been training since the age of 5. In an interview, he said that when learning opera, his teacher would make him learn and sing all partitions and he was not very pleased about it at the time.

Yeah it is possible to expand the range it if you keep singing in that register continuesly.. and from very early range.. but again and again.. vocal cords structure matters.. not everyone can do it! He has very unique structure!

He entered music school at 5 and was singing soprano, so he learned how to hang onto that range even as his speaking voice dropped quite low.

I don't mind multiple pauses. I just wish you'd let him finish singing the phrase he is singing first, and then after talking resume play 5 seconds back, so some of the momentum is regained. It seems that when you just started it up from where you stopped it, some notes were lost.

"The Singer" is an annual Chinese TV show for highly respected singers to compete. Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan is 6ft 3, 1/4 and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. Because of his age and the fact he was a wild card selection, he was asked to perform first. No pressure!! This was his first performance on the show and he sang in French. The audience went wild for him! When the show was broadcast on TV to approximately 600 million people he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist and just turned 26 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, (on hold until next year due to Covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition with a top mark of 100%. He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down for a more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. Thank you for the video! May I suggest maybe a change in camera position? It's a lot of white space and harder to see your facial expressions on a mobile phone when it's zoomed out all the way. To the distance towards the end when you're mentioned preserve emotions I'd say that might be the right distance, just my opinion of course :).
