Still prefer UA Gold. A fantastic pedal that adds magic touches to my guitar. That's all that I need. Less tweaking and wasting too much time, experimenting on a pedal rather than enjoying the playing. Yeah, I agree that the price is steep just for that, but it's the tone I'm concerned about. That's it.

Hey, greetings from germany. I got my neunaber illumine some month ago and it's blowin' me away with all the quality of the reverb sounds and all the possibilities to costumize the sound to my liking. I considered the ua golden reverberator too, but with only one sound to store, that was simply not enough. Not to forget the greater tweakability of the illumine, the bonus sounds like delay and reverb, octave and reverb and so on. So, if you are the person that dials in 1 or 2 reverb sounds and forget about it, the ua is right, but if you really want to tailor made your reverb for your songs or your mood the neunaber is unbeatable. And one thing i like to mention: in the global settings of the illumine you got routing options for stereo and wet/dry. So i did'nt had to buy a signal splitter for my 2 amp wet/dry rig. Very nice indeed!

Illumine sounds great if you're willing to dig through a bunch of menus to adjust something. If I'm playing, inspired in the moment, and I hear something that could be better, I don't wanna have to try to switch my headspace out of musical inspiration mode to tech dive through menus mode just to tweak reverb pre-delay and then try to get back in musical inspiration mode.....it just ain't gunna happen. When the moment is gone, it's gone. I do wish the GR had at least one or two more options, maybe a shimmery reverb and a reverse.....but I think I'll just get a crappy HOF or something, if I ever really want/need that.

I have had both. And I run stereo ins and outs on my board to two amps. An obvious point in favor of rhe Illumine is the left to right order of the ins and outs. So much easier. On the UA they are stacked. I use pancake heads and this becomes an issue to get them to even fit with the power input. Both sound amazing. I have spring reverbs on my amps which cannot be beat. I just need a couple ambient reverbs dialed in and the Illumine is perfect for that. Easy to get to with the presets. So I have 2-3 set and forget sounds, toggle with the presets. Also I like pedals that are not more than 4.5” deep in order to fit on pedalboards. I would rather they be wide and not deep. I always found that curious about these UA pedals.

Great comparison. And these are two great verbs to compare. I'm going with the Immerse (mainly for the Wet algo) and the Golden for everything else. Covers all the bases, for me at least. If I ever need to have more than 3 verbs at my disposal, I'll swap the Immerse for the Illumine.

Both sound pretty great, but what really stood out to me was the Chamber mode on the Golden. "Spring is here" on the Illumine was, strangely enough, the more realistic spring sound to me, even though the Golden has a great reputation for that.

Illumine for me. It's great and simple to use. I think it is the best Reverb out there imo

Looooove the Illumine. I'm really surprised people don't talk about it more. It's insane

Definitely a big fan of Illumine - I highly recommend it. Can't say I prefer it over UA one, as never played the latter, but amount of original sounds you can get from it is endless. Also I'm a big fan of using expression pedal to further push it during live playing.

A really strange decision not to include midi on the Golden, such a shame.

Interesting, to me the Golden isn't on the same level as the Illumine at all. It's in that like 6-7/10 space with things like the BlueSky, Ventris, and R1. the Illumine is in the elite 9/10 space with the BigSky, BAM, Mercury 7, and H90. Surprised to see these compared. It sounded pretty much how I expected, the Illumine just kicking in the Golden's teeth.
