I didn't try the Gibson but I have an Epiphone ES-335 and played the Donner in the shop. I liked the thicker neck on the Donner, and liked the single coil option on each pickup as well, it can give a clean semi-acoustic guitar sound with the split coils. If I were to buy one now, I would buy the Donner for half the price I paid for Epiphone. There is a slight tonal difference but it's easy to get similar if not the same sounds from these guitars by adjusting the treble or presence knob on the amp. Also, it seemed to me the body was slightly thicker on the Donner compared to the Epithone, but I'm not sure because I didn't have them side by side. The Donner pickup sounds like it has higher output and compressed, but this can be backed off a bit by lowering the pickups.

I went to buy a VOS R9 today at a local shop. Then I saw they also got a ES-355 for about the same price. Both mint, used but like new. I left with nothing but another set of decisions to make. Ill probably get the 355 as Ive got enough good LPs already. Nice video!

IMO the UA Golden Reverberator is leaps and bounds better than the RV6 and well worth the extra dough. The RV6 tails sound so digital when you listen close with a good set of cans. My second choice would be the Strymon Flint but I think the UA Golden even tops that for quality. Great review!

NEVER BUY ONE OF THIS!! After buying one, and test that the frets were not leveled (unplayable guitar), I sent it back (Donner policy allows it and refund it). After sending the guitar (checked with courier) and tell me that I was to be reimbursed, they say they have not received the guitar and don`t send me the money. More than 2 months ago...🤮

Personally... I would buy the Donner, then take it to one of many talented luthiers in my area then at some point down the road I would visit Fralin Pickups (Richmond, VA). Six Grand is absolute nonsense, 'nough said.

Thanks for the posting. I recently started playing me 12 string again because I decided to give it to my luthier for a set up. I haven't played it in a few years because as I was getting older it was getting harder to play. But the guitar has never been professionally set up. but he made it very easy for me to play. I actually start out on 12 strings back in 2007 when God put me on his platform to play worship for Him but when it started getting harder for me to play it I just went to a 6 string. Thanks for the teaching and you play amazing.

the 335 has a little compression that make single notes a bit special compared with solid guitars... especially at low gains... I think this why jazz musicians prefer semi hollow guitars

I got my DST-400 for $125 NIB. Killer deal and a great guitar. I replaced the humbucker for a Seymour Duncan distortion model and I added vintage style locking tuners.

I enjoyed watching your presentation of the Blue Jay. I’m scouting videos looking for a cheap home unit that accepts pedals. I’ll use it plugged into an 8 ohm 1x12 cab. Thanks for sharing and you did present some good tones with your pedals. Think I’ll check out a few more of your videos to see more of your content.
