I'm going through regret loops. I'm hoping my therapist will help me change these thoughts and focus less on the past

    The past:
    Recreate ❌
    Run from ❌

I seem to get stuck in these ''regret loops'' they come in waves and i feel like its the universe changing me and forcing me to go through them to gain a new perspective and grow from it. Is this a healthy and nornal approach to them or just magical thinking? Thank you so much for the video as always 😃🌷☀

I'm glad you liked the video! :-)
And regarding your question: When we go into the past mentally, whether or not that's helpful depends on how we do it, what the purpose of going there is. Unhelpful regret loops often don't have an explicit purpose, they're more of a destructive, unconscious habit; a mental low-mood cloud that hovers in our minds. They leave us feeling paralyzed and numb or overwhelmed by pain. Helpful reflection of the past offers us (like you've also mentioned) a new perspective and a new approach to the way we make sense of and act in the present. Helpful reflection helps us feel *less* dominated by the past, it helps us feel less overwhelmed by past pain, because by processing it in a healthy way, we learn to own our story in a constructive way. So in short, if your reflections are offering you a new perspective and growth, I think that's a great approach and not just magical thinking. 🙂🌱

    A question:
If these are generalisations but i do happen too see these patterns in another person, is it me fitting my own narrative or is that some truth i can Believe in that? 😅

That's hard to say... It's usually wise to carry these kinds of notions carefully with an awareness that you could be wrong, but that you might be right, too...
