    @06:20 k to clarify
    Rebel is automatically a title given to you if you undergo human plus, once your character is modified by it, your orginal name gets replaced and you get called "Rebel" even if you rename yourself in MOA..
    It's just a thing in the game..
    Cool to see you had fun with ac:moa I defo agree that it gets pacing done well and build up with Nine Ball is executed perfectly =D

      There was a cheat code for changing your pilot name. In the garage, highlight ''Change AC Name." While holding L2 + R2 + Right, hold X and quickly hold Square. Best to do it after you get all the human plus upgrades. And a little trick that helps with vertical aming is when you want to change from sky or ground to center press and Hold R2(Down) or L2(Up) then press the other one and release both

      Yep, it's a codename that is imposed on you much like your cybernetics, always reminding you that you've been compromised as a human.
      C4-621 is a callback to that.

    One of my favourite things about watching people getting through these games, especially archived on TH-cam, is watching the piloting progress. What always starts out with stilted and jerky movements, playing like every action has to be translated in the brain before it can be put into the controller, always ends up with the player mastering the controls and everything looking so fluid. These games really do level you up as a player.
    Master of Arena is a complete masterpiece. I love the simple plot that still hits you with twists and turns. The mission variety is excellent, and the pacing with the arena, garage, and sorties is perfect.

    No one mentioned the Karasawa because it's a secret. Shhh.
    But no, no one told you for the same reason no one should have told you about Nineball Seraph. It's *more fun* to eventually figure it out on your own. I'm glad that you made your way through and beat Nineball Seraph. Though you didn't touch on the Ex Arena, which I thought was great and the IRL backstory to it is pretty cool too. A time when FROM really interacted with its fanbase a lot more than I think it does today.
    I recommend you get used to not using Human+ as they will eventually disallow it entirely while continuing to give it to the AI in later games. And you won't get human+ back until it becomes the unavoidable default in AC4, where Psychic LYNX pilot NEXT-type AC's with awesome power.

      Not forever, if you hold a button, triangle I think, when you select "change AC name", it brings up the menu to change pilot name.
      That said, I didn't know that back in the day either, and my pilot name in all AC games since has usually been my first H+ one, Rebel 537.

  • @slicksilver2961

    Ah bro! im so happy you got into Master of Arena! its one of my favorite AC games because it shows you how dangerous the world is. Just doing a simple "destroy the convey" mission will become a random AC battle. unlike in Phantasma and the original, you get a sense that the most dangerous threat you can encounter, is another AC, most likely outfitted with human plus.
    Also, speaking of Human plus, in game, when you get it, the lore implications is that you become a cyborg who can 'jack' into their AC as opposed to just piloting it. along with other cyberpunk augments, after the surgery, your new name becomes "Rebel" followed by some random numbers. Its a small implication that while you've become a Plus, you have lost your human identity. Armored Core Lore makes videos on the games and topics if you're interested.
    also also, supposedly, Master of Arena takes place after the original Armored Core (Phantasma is a prequel to the first game) and your player character is someone else from the first two games, but they hate Nineball because Nineball killed his family. But comically enough, the player fighting 2 of them in the first game gives any gamer enough reason to want revenge lmaooo
    (garage gang ftw)
    (Did you know about Master of Arena's Disk Two? It features more... bizarre ACs)

    • @Aereto
      @Aereto ปีที่แล้ว

      Meanwhile in later Armored Core lore, ACs have shrunk in size and less armored up, while we are getting a mix of normal, augmented, and digitized AC pilots and AI alike.
      But yes, anyone who have fought Hustler-1 not once, not twice, but three times in the original would go "How many times do I have to shut you down!?"
      But some of us are insane enough to leave no Nineball standing and still got room to slay the final boss

      AC1 has missions where ACs can unexpectedly show up. The mission where you defend the train, the early "destroy random stuff" mission where the RANK 2 shows up, and I recall one in a crater which might've been a different one in the series.

  • @lesslighter
    @lesslighter ปีที่แล้ว +18

    ohhh right thats not a UI bug IIRC if you enter the human plus program the name rebel will be stuck to you... for almost as long as younplayed those imported saves this logic carries over to AC2 to another age where the human plus program as an "easy mode" ceased to be going forward. to be replaced by OP-I in AC3 when you finish the game where in you need to equip the option part and then do certain side missions to unlock human + upgrades but not the ability to field as overweight which is one of the perks of human+
    PS once you reach gen 3 it is wisely advised that you do not do a fresh run of Silent Line but import your save from AC3, logic runs the same line once you reach last raven you either import a save from Nexus or import a save from a fully unlocked and completed run of Ninebreaker (depending if you carried over data from Nexus or start fresh from Ninebreaker) which more or less meant you need to gold all of training parts in Nine Breaker
    and yes Karasawa is the most powerful laser rifle in the games and its basically what is the Moonlight greatsword to From Software games. story has it he was the man behind making the prototype for armored core since when they first begun developing King's Field 1 roughly 4 years (yes the jp version of King's Field 1) and died after project phantasma was completed I think.... and yes every generation has its version of Karasawa except Last Raven which sports not 1 but 2 generations of Karasawa, with ACV topping it by having 4 variants.... only VARIANTS :/ I allude the 5th gen Karasawa to the Beam Magnum from Unicorn what makes it up for fire power lacks in ammo count :/ 4 shots and 5 shots with dual shoulder slot magazine
    however the Karasawa in Gen 1 has its limitations not all legs can use it as the model will "clip through" the environment and from soft didnt want that
    ohh come another age.... uhh yeah.... your experience play the first trilogy will definitely come in handy.... I wont spoil but if you know then you know

    Master of Arena is truly a great game, but I also believe these games also just simply start to click better once you get over the hump of the learning curve. Sure, the structure of these games is addictive, but making a build you can effectively pilot is so incredibly satisfying. It was the best feeling when I got good at piloting a lightweight build and somehow took out Nine-Ball Seraph on my first try.
    Also, the parking garage makes an appearance in AC3 again, lol. You might be thankful it exists there at some points even if it doesn't feel like an honorable victory haha.

  • @InternetHydra
    @InternetHydra ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My cope for the garage arena is that I don't select maps, I cycle through them after each match regardless of if I win or not. This helps keep the experience fresh, out of my hands, keeps building skill, while also allowing a "unfair" victory when the troublesome ACs end up fighting in the garage.
    And if I lose that garage map, oh well guess I'll have to at least try to beat them in the others before the next opportunity. Yeah it takes more time then choosing the cheapest maps and weapons and youtube builds, but it suits my currently tight work schedule where I can't binge games or other things anyway, which these games I swear were originally designed for that. (it's almost like japan at that time had brutal work and school hours...) And sometimes I beat them in more typical maps due to getting gud.

    Getting human plus in AC1 to beat MOA! 😂. I remember as a kid I thought human plus made the game too easy and I was worried about honorable wins so I refused to use it. Whatever helps you enjoy the game, I support, but I still find it amusing being worried about honorable kills or redemption while you go easy mode (might as well carry over the Karasawa while you're at it). Start a fresh play and make the very most of those all those parts because, as always, knowledge is power in Fromsoft and that's the real fun of it. You slum your way out of the bottom to become an unstoppable force at the top.

    Armored Core Master of Arena was my first taste of Armored Core. I demo'd it in a used game store back in 1999-2000. The intro sequence was cool and I still like that music.
    That said I think its the weakest of the first generation games. Some of the best weapons were nerfed from AC-1/Project Phantasma, and a handful were buffed.
    The focus on the Arena in both gameplay and story was just annoying. Still the story was an evolution. Armored Core 1 was kind of weak in story, but its also the basis for every other game as youre a mercenary taking jobs. Project Phantasma's story was more linear, but it it did have a continuous story. Master of Arena's story combined them with Stinger being Nine-Ball 2.0, and in MOA you fight Nine-Ball 3.0.
    The future games would much more often focus on enemy Armored Cores as rivals and parts of the story with Nine-Ball being basically the face or mascot of the series with him reappearing or getting referenced frequently.

    Great video, keep going!
    AC MoA was supposed to be played in sequence. So, AC1 -> AC PP -> AC MoA. And you loaded your saves from each one. I standby the fact that AC MoA had the best and highest skill ceiling for pvp of any AC to this day. AC6's pvp actually feels boring atm. All ACs start when you beat the game and acquire all items. Then the real game starts with pvp. AC MoA was made for pvpers. And we loved it. AC 4 FA was probably the 2nd best. I really wish FromSoft did more networking code.

    I just rocked the shit of the entire arena and game with just one holy weapon gilded with a light-yellow color. The WG-XW11. Don't get me wrong, the karasawa is a beast, but if you have the two optional parts that buff energy weapons, you'll dish out almost 1.8X more dps than the bare karasawa. Trust me, i didn't even have to move or fly much using it. enemies caught fire as they tried all their fancy maneuvers and all i used was a middleweight AC with a gun that rivals the karasawa. So if the karasawa is too heavy, use the WG-XW11. it'll save you a migraine trying to reconfigure your build.

    No, it wasn't a UI bug, you gave up your name for Human plus. Your character became a science experiment for the progression of cybornetic augmentation to pay off their depts and all it cost was their humanity and identity.
    Interestingly, In AC6, I believe this sort of "tradition" canonically happened to pilots like 621 and Iguazu by making poor decisions or through sheer bad luck. Both definitely occured in Iguazu's case.

    Depending on how cynical you outlook is on the game, going Human PLUS is either FromSoft's way of taking pity on you, or it was their way of rewarding persistence. In a way, considering how there's basically no hand-holding in the Armored Core games prior, a successful 100% run of these games without Human PLUS all the way until Armored Core 3 _is_ a challenge run unto itself.

    Hmm, I've only seen a couple of people mention that you didn't even touch the other half of the game: the arena disc. I spent way more time there than I did doing the campaign. This is also probably the AC game I have the most time on period, as it was the height of my pvp era. I still have my two copies and a ps1 link cable... oh and once again, the stats on various parts were rebalanced with this game making it far more competetive than the broken stuff in Project Phantasma. System link 1v1 was so much fun in MoA.
    There's a chunk of the community that talk shit about H+, but I am fully on board with it. After all, you're just handicapping yourself if you don't use the advantages available to you. If someone didn't want to fight with H+ I still had regular save files just in case. I didn't have PP at the time as I missed it and I don't think any nearby stores stocked it iirc, but I did have AC1 since new and you bet your ass I always imported previous save files through the games that allowed it. I did eventually get two copies of PP over the years as well.

    What emulator/setting are you using? I'm playing through the AC games too, but mine looks like doodoo using ePSXe

      I’m using Duckstation here, and would generally recommend it for any PS games 🙂

    Damn it , another human plus noob take. Git gud world. I played and beat all PS1 AC games no human plus. this is a complete confirmation that no one even plays this game proper and doesn't understand spacing / proper movement/ weapon choice and damage avoidance at all... if you can't get past the arena without human plus you suck. You have to pay close attention to where the AI's weapons are effective and where they are not and play well.

      People should enjoy the game the way they want to, if the story is fun enough, he sure will do SP Arena sort of extra stuff, don't be such a gatekeeper

    I don’t see how you’d like anything about this without hitting Human+ 6x in the first game

      He beat previous game without it, so why not? How is this related to his feeling with the game
