- Some months ago The Lion King producers revealed something that ruined childhoods to lots of adult fans. They said at an interview that Mufasa and Scar have never been brothers. In this video I'm going to explain you what this is all about and I'll try to clarify the major doubts caused by this reveal. Though, this subject stays open to the possibility of new theories, feel free to share yours in the comments!

I think that they are biologically brothers but they just don't look the same. Because of their parents.

My theory is that scar was found by Uru like sarabi and sarafina were. He was raised and over time mufasa forgot that he was adopted and started to call scar "brother"

My theory:Scar is a lion that comes from a pride call the sahara pride.This pride is know to be very evil and cruel.This pride only had leaders not king and queens.The male leader of the group was Sahari and the female leader was Uru.Yes Uru is is Ahadi's mate.Sahari and Uru had a son called Scar.Uru had a good heart even though her pride was evil.Sahari used to hurt scar because he wanted a son that is strong.Uru could not stand watching her son get harmed every day.So Uru secretly took care of scar and healed him without Sahari knowing.But Sahari found out and hurt Uru.Scar helped her get better.Then one day while the pride was a sleep Uru ran of with scar to a land called the pride lands.There Uru married Ahadi and became queen of the pride lands.Then one day scar fainted.Rafiki healed him but Scar was reborn from Uru.Mufasa was already born.Scar knew that he was from a different pride and that he and his mother ran away from his pride.When Uru died Scar thought Ahadi killed her.This is the reason he hates his dad and his brother.And that's my theory.Scar is Mufasa's adopted brother.

Technically they are still brothers because in lion prides the male or males have at least 2 or 3 cubs with most of the females of the pride
I'm sorry, but despite what Disney said, Mufasa and Scar/Taka will always be brother. If they're not brothers then it gives less meaning to Scar killing Mufasa in my opinion.

The line “shallow end of the gene pool” means that he isn’t the strongest because if you listen to the full sentence “well, as far as brains go, I got the lions share, but when it comes to BRUTAL STRENGTH, I’m afraid I’m at the shallow end of the gene pool” if he was trying to say he wasn’t related, all that stuff about strength wouldn’t be in that line
I know but honestly that part really got me confused. Every web media uses that sentence to "confirm" what producers said, so I did. Thanks for your explanation, though.

My theory is.... I found out Ahadi had a Brother.. Bakari. Bakari wanted to be with Uru. But Uru wanted to be with Ahadi.
I think Ahadi went out hunting before Uru and Ahadi were mates. So Bakari and Uru secretly became mates. But Uru left him and she choosed Ahadi. And They became mates and Mufasa born(but his father is Bakari, but Ahadi thinks he is father)and later Taka/Scar.

Okay. We've heard plenty about the lions, what about Shenzi and the Hyenas. I need more. What are their backstories? It seems Ed and Banzai are good friends with Shenzi, the leader of the Hyena pride, but there are other Hyenas in the live-action version of the original. Please, look into it for me Askari.

Lion brother do exist when those male lions cub get a little older they get kicked out cause there is always useuly one male lion in a pride
If they were brothers, like, biological, that would be incest. And that’s not very “Disney.” So I think they indeed are not related, but grew up in the same pride. The other dominant male was killed so Scar’s father took his place. After the death of the second male lion, Mufasa was born. After that, Scar (whose only name other than that is Taka) was born after Mufasa. (Please note when I say “after” that does not mean right after. It means the event that happened took place at a time period later than the last event.) They grew up as best friends, as close as brothers. ( If all that was shown they would be shipped together because yknow how those type of people are. ) Scar/Taka started to grow envious of Mufasa, feeling as if Mufasa thought he was better than everyone because he was descended from the Golden Lion, the first king of the pridelands. Soon enough, they were full grown and their fathers deceased. ( Circle of Life, am I right? )
( Since The Lion Guard is apparently canon and I want to make this as head canon as possible..) Mufasa and Scar/Taka both considered themselves brothers, so Scar/Taka, being the younger one, was gifted with the roar. Scar/Taka felt pride ( get it? ) or better than everyone for being the leader of The Lion Guard. ( Blah blah blah, uninteresting story of a snake bite, yadah yadah.. ) Mufasa seeming not to be very impressed by Scar/Taka’s actions of getting rid of the strange lion ( I say Zira’s brother ) only caused Scar/Taka to feel contempt towards him. ( Destroying his Lion Guard blah blah ) After Scar destroyed the Lion Guard, and lost the roar, he didn’t want to be looked down upon by his best friend ( whom was now king).
Unfortunate for Scar, he was and that ruined their friendship *almost* entirely. Which is why Mufasa called Scar “Brother!” before he was killed. Little did Mufasa know, he wasn’t considered as a friend to Scar anymore. More like an enemy or something he had to go through. Why did Scar kill his own childhood friend? Not simply to become king, but because he felt more deserving. Throughout time, Scar felt that Mufasa was too prideful ( here we go again with that pun ) to be king. Knowing he can’t kill Mufasa through a straight forward attack and needed a good way to mask the murder for being an accident, he killed in the gorge.
But hey, that’s just a theory. A DISNEY theory.

Everyone, i finally solve this question, not only the parents of scar and mufasa look different from each other but also they are two different kinds of lions. ok, you see scar and Simba grow extra hair but mufasa doesn't. So one of their parents is masai lion and another is east lion or another kind!!!

In the book A Tale of Two Brothers, Scar and Mufasa are brothers they just don’t look alike. Scar’s appearance looks more like his mother and Mufasa’s appearance looks more like his father.

I feel like Mufusa is the adopted one because although he has Ahadi’s fur color, Ahadi had a black mane while Mufasa had a red mane and Mohatu didn’t have a red mane. Meanwhile, Taka (aka Scar) had Ahadi’s black mane and Uru’s fur color. That’s just my explained theory.

Scar is mufasa's brother. Uru which is a brown lion (ahadi's mate) Is the mom of scar and mufasa. Ahadi is a yellow lion with a black mane. Mufasa inhareted Ahadi's dad's mane

I think that making theories is good in the lion king since there are a lot of things unexplained, but what I find stupid is that Disney tries to justify what they do with how lions work in real life in the wild, while at the same time they are making mistakes about that. We have only two cubs in the first lion king: simba and nala, but who was nala's father? We can make theories but the truth is that it wasn't explained,making mufasa her father most likely and that would mean he was cheating on sarabi if we considered them a couple,and of course simba would be her brother which would be incest,then they try to explain and fix that with a misterious lion in the lion guard, but that's also wrong,since the only one that could mate with the lionesses on the pride is the alpha male, or males if there are 2, which in the lion king there are, but the only one who rules is mufasa. Then comes the live action, and you can see again just 2 males, and a lot of cubs, where do they come from? Probably mufasa. Then, the lion king 2, who is kovu's,nuka's and vitani's father if it wasn't scar because then kovu and kiara would be family? Or their mother if what people say about zira not being their mother is true? And why didn't we saw zira and her part of the pride defend scar when he was attacked by simba?everyone supported simba, how could he exile them and why did they changed their opinion? Oh yeah, and simba in the lion guard says to kion that there are other lions (not lioness) to choose from to make a lion guard instead of his friends, but we can't see them, we can see other lioness cubs, who are their fathers if the only male is simba? Or the story about taka's scar,3 different versions of it,which is the canon one since the lion guard and live action are canon? Oh yeah and the question about simba eating meat again, does he hunt and eat meat again after the first lion king? He didn't do it around timon and pumba which is understandable, but in my opinion he started eating meat and hunting again after becoming king, because he talked about hunting in the second movie, in fact, it was almost like a ritual or exam to kiara, and for me that means he changed back to eating meat, it wouldn't make sense to be a king and not join the pride while they were eating, besides I think hunting was in his instinct and he just was hiding it because of his friends,since in the lion king there is a respect between species. Also there is some things disney did good, for example make Simba age well, in the first movie mufasa looks like a strong lion with a huge mane,same in the live action, but Simba as an adult looks a bit smaller and not as big of a mane, of course that's made so that we can see that mufasa was a powerfull lion ,but I think that he was older when he had simba and that's why he appears bigger and stronger, then you see simba at the beginning of the lion king 2,bigger and his mane was growing too, and towards the middle and the end of the movie it was as big as mufasa's mane because I think that Simba would live longer than, making him as big and strong as his father even if he is younger,because we can see him growing and gaining strenght and power, and in the lion king 3 we can see his teenage phase, same with kion and kovu, because kovu's mane is shorter than simba's and he is shorter, and kion too, since he is younger than kovu he has not developed a mane yet but is longer than at the beginning of the show, I just think he should have had a mane at the very end to show him being almost an adult, just like kovu, or mufasa and scar during the scene of "how I got my scar". In conclusion, the lion king is my favourite movie, but it doesn't make any sense because of disney even when they try to fix things, so thank god we make theories, even tho those wouldn't make sense either and we can't consider books as canon. This channel is so entertaining because we need answers to all those questions even if we will never now the canon truth hahaha
I completely agree with you, but hey, look at the bright side. All this doubts, question and theories make the movie more interesting and are keeping it alive for more than 15 years

As we saw, he was learning as a cub, he was able to ambush nala in the original movie and in the live action he almost pounced on that impala,as well as the fact that there was a ritual for kiara's first hunt in the second movie and I believe that there's a song in the lion guard in which zazu mentions something about it, and many fans who make fan comics show him teaching kiara /kopa and kion the circle of life. Do you think he changed back to eating meat or he just acted as a good king respecting traditions and he ate bugs when he was alone? I personally think he stopped eating bugs after he became King because he only ate them in front of his friends out of respect
The reason scar hates mufasa is because when they was born there father did more things with mufasa and not scar and scars mother had to do everything with scar and then one day scars dad scratched scar and gave him the big scar on his face so her ran away with his mother and one day scars mother told scar can u keep a promise and it was when I'm gonna please forgive ur brother and father and the next day his mother wouldn't wake up so he forgave his brother and father but still didn't like them and then when mufasa got chosen to be king that's when scar had the plan to kill his brother one day so he could take over as king

This request is kinda random, sorry. XD Can you make a video about my idea, that there are possibly pure white or black lions in the Lion King? There is not a lot to off of with this theory, so I'd understand if it wasn't picked, but the Lion King has proven it possible, only with a different animal. A zebra. In The Lion Guard, Kion and friends meet a golden zebra in episode, 14 "The Golden Zebra", Season 2. I also really enjoy your videos! 💙

If Disney were to do another remake of The Lion King, maybe they should add some context about Scar being a rogue lion not related to Simba or his dad just like what we’ve seen in the 1989 animated Disney film “The Little Mermaid” in which the big bad of the film isn’t related to our main heroine or her dad!
Musafa and Scar are probably adopted brothers and have no idea that they aren't biological brothers, both probably think they are biological brothers, because no one has told them otherwise, and everyone treats them as such as well

To clear up the director’s statement after the interview, he essentially debunked that interview and made it clear that the two are indeed brothers and blood related, and if that wasn’t enough, think about how much the sequel had to be played with so that Kovu had connections to Scar without being his son. If Scar wasn’t related to Mufasa in the first place, there would be no need to do any of that. Also, in TLK2019, they make it a point for a few more passing mentions to point out that Scar and Mufasa are related

“Oh come on, he should have been expelled from the Pridelands long ago!” -Zazu
“He’s my brother, Zazu, this is his home, for as long as I am king, that will never change.” -Mufasa
Let’s also not forget what Zazu said after their confrontation in the original,
