I genuinely love this. In lore the Interior Ministry was PETRIFIED of Ashina. And now we can see in gameplay that even at his absolute weakest and all of them dog piling him at the same time *he trounces all of them.*

To be fair it was a pretty close fight and even against isshin in phase 1
@@adi96adi The reason why is because for some reason his posture wasn't reset in phase 2, which allowed the ministry to stun him way easier and get a lot of free hits in. With the posture being reset (as it should've been) I doubt they'd even get him to a quarter of his health in phase 2.

I like to imagine this is what happened before you show up at the castle in the endgame to find ishiin passed away. That the ministry attempted to take Lord Kuro by force and Ishiin whooped their asses protecting he and Emma before succumbing to illness shortly after.
Idk if you know this, but after you beat the Demon of Hatred, you can go up the stairs and into the building and you'll find an old lady surrounded by corpses of those purple ninjas who invade Ashina Castle. Probably proves that Isshin isn't the only badass geezer in Ashina.

Isshin didn't lead an army to protect Ashina. Isshin protected Ashina by himself, and his army was just here to bring him a constant flood of alcohol and sake.

Maybe if they threw in Owl and Shigekichi.
He only won because of the aoe fire attacks which cannot be blocked for reduced or none damage. Im not sure if sword saint isshin has enough aoe attacks that actually deal damage through their guard, he rather has long combos which are deadly if fighting one enemy (since he has to deflect them and deal damage all at once). For a group of enemies, sword saint might be easy to get.
But I also could be totally wrong on this.
@@gorgit i think the spear covers a pretty wide area, plus the lightning attack. Its probably going to be a complete stomp the first phase and then he picks up.

Swordsaint Isshin first phase is literally the easiest phase in the entire game and second and third arent that difficult either. (although the spear attacks are more difficult due to their range).
So i also think that the same army against Swordsaint would have resulted in a win for the ministry.

they had a reason to fear him, its not only for lore purposes, he really can take them all at his weakest

It's crazy how much potential this game really have the fighting mechanics or so realistic even the common enemies was not to be taken lightly and this vid show you how deadly isshin truly was he didn't really rely on all that tactics like the owl and butterfly he was pure power
He used strategy and tactics. I would say it's technique. It just so happens that he also possesses a lot of power.
He used a lot of technique, remember the opening scene with him fighting Tamura? No way he could just outmuscle that giant, he used precision swordsmanship to win that fight.
This is nowhere near realistic, the soulsborne are more realistic with a stamina bar and the "spear / shield" overpowered combo (because it was overpowered in real life).
Sekiro fighting is very good indeed, better than the soulsborne? Open to debate... but not realistic, not even a little.

Soulsborne fight like impractical, slow motion jokes. No one wields weapons like that if they're good with them. And spear and shield isn't over powered at all.

@@kissadev. Ah yes, using s to roll through your opponents attacks is so much more realistic than deflecting. Sekiro combat is heavily stylized but fundamentally it's way more authentic than soulsborne.
The way he moves so dynamically during 1st phase especially 0:40 to 1:00 looks like some epic samurai movie fight scene
The AI of isshin probably focused on every enemy and engaged the side step, resulting on this epic Bloodborne pvp dodge
I could totally imagine Nakadai Tatsuya playing Isshin and kicking arse like this.

He looked like "Is it over already?" when he finished slaughter.
It even has a tense second act where he starts to lose and they all rush him at once and start pummeling him, only to pull out his second form
I'll admit, I had my doubts that Isshin would pull this one off. He continues to surprise me though
It would be interesting if we can program him to try deflecting all the attacks and automatically lock on the target with the lowest health bar

I can imagine this battle actually taking place right before Sekiro returned and found Isshin dead.
Let this be a reminder, that the Interior Ministry is vastly superior to Ashina in terms of military power. They just waited to invade *exclusively* because Isshin was still alive.

I always wondered why everyone put so much faith in isshin before Wolf kills the divine dragon. Kuro says that isshin makes him feel safe, that spear monk near the old grave idol still has confidence in Isshin, and even Owl says that “few could have hoped to kill isshin.” And I was like, HOW? This dude has got to be at least seventy, he probably has TB, I don’t care how legendary he is; there’s no way that this guy could single-handed my fight off an entire army. So why is everyone still fearing and respecting him. Well now I know why. Because he _can_ fight off an entire army.
And keep in mind this is isshin at his WEAKEST.
Imagine him at his prime in his sword saint isshin form. He's immortal AND can now use tomoe's lightning ontop of his crazy ass techniques
