    I have the same setup. Except my interface is the1824c. The Pro VLA is a surprisingly good sounding compressor. The new auto time align feature on pipeline S1 4 is awesome too.

    STAND THOSE ERIS SPEAKERS BACK UPRIGHT!!😛 They are designed to be upright. You are hearing the woofer BEFORE the tweeter & that changes your listening experience. I know a lot of folks do this BUT it is NOT right & ruins the speaker design & thus the reason you spent so much money on them in the first place.😁 PS. Love your channel, your humor, & especially your studio build series. Very interesting! Nice work! You did a wonderful job! Congratulations!!!!

    Great video! The best declaration for S1 pipeline in the net including the wiring. Thanks a lot. Very helpful. I'm trying to work with the new Piepeline XT. Ok it works, but I hoped, that I can use it on every buss channel to do the settings differently for drums, bass, guitars and so on with only one hardware processor. But that doesn't seem to work.

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want to output all those buses, you need that many outputs and inputs via your Audio Interface and just as many outboard Compressor units.
      You can always process one bus at a time by recording/printing the return onto a new track.

  • @SonnyJayCo

    There's a way to level the output by adjusting the compressor its self by opening it up and adjusting some knobs. I haven't done it myself yet but there's a video on it on TH-cam. This method makes it easier than using software to adjust the balance.

    About to get the Art Pro VLA but just for tracking vocals. Signal chain will be condenser mic to focusrite ISA One preamp to VLA compressor to ID-14 interface. I know you use yours for mastering but if you could give me any advice such as cables I'll need and what inputs and outputs to go in that would be appreciated. If you have any videos where you use the compressor to track vocals, please point me in that direction.

    • @rook9309
      @rook9309 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      stephen callaghan - You can still do it with only 2 outputs technically, but it would require a small mixer in between the way back from the compressor to your interface. You’d be able to monitor the sound from the mixer. One issue you could have is feedback loop from interface once you go back in, but to solve that you would just mute in your DAW the output of the channel on your interface in which you record into.

Qestion nr 2 : I have problems in my room with frekvenses round 80hz and 130 hz. This make it hard to listen good in the mixes specially with the electric bas för tuning amd mixing. Thanks

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The PreSonus Eris E8 is designed to be standing up, but I personally found it to have better stereo image, as well as wider 'sweet spot' having them laid down. This is because the shelf they are sitting on is a bit too high for my seating location and way above my ears.
      I hope soon to build myself a better suited custom desk so they will align correctly with speakers standing up as they are designed for.
      Use the low cut switch at the back to adjust of the 80Hz to 130Hz is a problem (I have a problem in that frequency too). It got better as I now have more room in the new studio and they are further away from the back wall, and they now have less peak/dip in the low frequency range.
      The only way I could compensate for it is via Sonarworks Reference 4 software.
      It's because of the room size and not the speakers.

  • @MrDobleagent
    @MrDobleagent 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a question: you did the left and right balance in your interface, however the PRO VLA is dual, when you have different Output levels on the right and left side or even different threshold level on left and right, this does not affect the final balance of the track? or the VLA have Link mode? I get a bit confused.

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Pro VLA can be in Link Stereo or Dual Mono mode. When processing a mono channel like drum kick & snare, I use the unit as 2 mono compressors with individual processing channels. When I use it for let's say a drum bus, then I engage the link mode to process stereo, so each channel trigger both compressors.
