In this video I will be repainting an antique Eastlake Dresser that I previously painted over the summer that wasn't selling. I'll show you how to remove wax from your piece in order to repaint it. I am taking this from bold to classic. Let me know in the comments which look you like best!

I love the burled wood drawer fronts. I would have kept them but changed the paint colour. However the finished product was lively in the slate blue colour. It has a very sophisticated look.

Great demonstration of what we can do with all those “bits and bobs” of leftover paint. The dresser is very classic now. I loved the original boho style paint but many people like a more subdued palette. I don’t know why. So many colors. So little time. Just be careful when mixing complimentary colors. There are plenty of color theory videos on TH-cam for those that are interested. But you accomplished a complete transformation of this dresser. What a gorgeous piece!

I was going back and forth between black and silver so it was definitely an option that was on the table.

I was looking for a way to remove wax sealer when I happened on your channel. Very good video! I have to say I like the Eastlake in the "bold & red" better and would work with my style/decor, but I can see how the grey will move better with the current trends. I am always hearing you tubers who paint say, "If you need it to move, paint is white or grey and it will be out the door!" I love what you did with the hardware to match it up.

Thank you! I’m actually thinking of keeping it now 😂. It matches my office in the gray. Pricing is different depending on your location. I’m just south of Seattle. If I decide to sell I’ll list it for around $400. I’m glad my videos have helped you!
I think the gray matches the marbling in the top better. I liked the red color and burl on drawers better but I did not care for the gold on your first paint job. It was a beautiful Eastlake piece. Could the asking price have been the problem?
That would be awful if you ran out of that paint mixture and still had more to paint because obtaining the exact same color would be difficult as you eyeballed it. I hope it sells quickly for you. Good job.

This piece came out great but I feel bad credit being an antique it has lost a lot of its value. Could there have been a way for you to keep the burl wood?
The burl wood was already damaged and full of wood filler when I originally purchased it. I was able to blend in some of the damage with stain the first time but it was a veneer and could only take so much sanding and refinishing. Also keep in mind that just because something is “Antique” doesn’t mean that it’s automatically full of value. I actually got this piece from a friend for $30 who owns an antique store. He sold it to me so cheap because he knew it wasn’t worth anything in the condition that it was in.

How long does the bin primer need to dry before you use chalk paint over it?
I usually let it dry for about 2 hours before I start painting over it.
Hi there! I came across your channel as I was looking how to paint over waxed chalk paint. I have really been struggling trying to get the paint off when sanding because of the wax. It gets my sand paper all junked up and there seems to be so much… ugh! Do you have any other ideas? I’m so afraid to paint over it if the wax isn’t completely off. I would hate for it to not adhere… please let me know. Thank you much!
Hi there! Mineral spirits or acetone will break down the wax. I would try wiping it down with one of those first and then go in with your sander.
