    SpyderLEE I was wondering if you could help me out with a bit of wiring. I decided to try using 6 led tube lights on each side rather than the two halo rings. I would like all of the strips to turn on and off for the brake lights, turn signals and parking lights. I’m not sure what resistors to use, what I’m thinking is having the brake lights be full power and the turn signals and parking lights be half power so that when they are both on they are at full power. I’m also not sure if it would be too much power to have the turn signals, parking lights and brake lights all on at the same time. If that’s the case I may just want to have the brake lights be resisted to half power also as I always have my parking lights on when I drive because of my halo rings in the front.

    Great video! How did these hold up over the years? I'm doing something similar to my '01 Celica but I'm a bit nervous sending an unrestricted wire for the brake light, have they burnt out? Also you mentioned that the strips are rated for .25 watts, now I'm questioning this ebay seller if it's actually 20 watts like it states lol

  • @FMuscleZ28

    Have you used the lights on public roads / passed MOT with them? There's a minimum distance (I believe 10cm, but don't quote me) to respect between brake and fog lights to not confuse the two, I don't think you have sufficient gap... Also, I used those ring LEDs for daytime lights before and they started flickering within a month, I had to disconnect them. Good thing that car was old enough to not require DRLs...

    Lee class as allways I don't know what way to go with my mr2 2zz or turbo what do you think it seems hard to get a turbo kit in the uk

    • @SpyderLEE
      @SpyderLEE  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      PARCHY64 to be honest, it all depends on future plans. If your happy at 200 ish bhp then it’s totally personal preference, they are about as fast as each other. Some people like high rev screaming, some people like turbo whistle. Plenty of turbo kits come up for sale on the Facebook groups. And plenty of 2zz’s about. Turbo kit easier to get 250bhp without spending much money. 2zz turbo will see you over 300. More than 350 ish and it’s irrelevant which you have as both will need forging.

    Did you have any issues with the MOT? Fog lights are supposed to be 100mm away from any brake light which I guess these aren't since they're the same element. The fog lamp also isn't allowed to be lit up by any other means which I guess it also is since it acts as a brake light too.
    Trying to design my own for my AW11 MR2 but can't find a way around this legally.
    The best way to do it for me it seems is to pair up the fog with the position lights as they're allowed to be a shared light source. They still won't be 100mm away but that's not in the MOT Tester's Guide Book.

  • @zokusharuuku1091
    @zokusharuuku1091 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you know what length led tube lights you used? Also my car doesn’t have the fog lights, is it possible for the brake lights to just brighten all 4 strips instead of just 2?

    • @SpyderLEE
      @SpyderLEE  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I can remember what length I used. They were 2 strips cut into 4 though, I remember that bit. I’m sure I just got the longest I could. You can make them brighten all 4 if you want. Just wired a little different

    Wow! I did the same thing a couple years ago to the rings on my 03' except I went over the top of those inner lenses. Thinking about going back in and doing something like the bottom part you did. I have the 03 head lights and just painted the inner housing satin black and added strips and a single RGB Ring to the small projector. I can change the colors by remote. Also made my own lens and tinted smoke with film. I need to update the latest pics, but Check it out here: www.carstereo.com/installs/photo_gallery_album.cfm?home=yes&photoid=75167&galleryid=6363I also did a 3rd break light conversion and fiberglass sub enclosure for a single 10" sub in the pass side storage behind the seat. By the way if you're reading this comment (yes, you, not only the author of this video), don't get triggered if your opinion's different, I respect it. Aaand I'm saying it here, 'cause I want to avoid wasting my time replying this thing to someone. Have a nice day.

    They look cool but i can tell they are poor quality. Theyre not even as bright or brighter than stock halogen cause you used cheap china smd leds. You can see the big difference in brightness when you press the brake lights. The halogens are much more intense. Make sure to use quality leds, preferably cree for maximum brightness and life. Thats suppose to be the perks of leds. Brighter, longer life and draws less power.
