well according to techno-pro spirit Taro, they didn't fit K20 into their touge MRS as it deem to lose its "balance" which is why they stick to the 2ZZ-GE th-cam.com/video/RbjSVa242hc/w-d-xo.html

@The Talentless Mr. Kipling yeah, it's hard for me to justify buying a 2zz from eBay in particular. I've considered MWR here in the states, still a bit steep though. The 2zz didn't get a whole lot of use here. The cars it did make it into usually ended up as commuters, or a teenagers first car. Either way they rarely got the maintenance and respect they deserve. High milage examples go for $2000 USD minimum.
Did he change anything in the stock engine? 2zz are high compression with the 1zz being lower. It's normally wiser for a supercharger on the higher where a turbo is fine on the lower.
I'm in the US and I've been debating getting one, the thing is I don't know too much about the build, but if you're gonna make videos the year round I think I might pull the trigger and finally get one
Saw a picture of a MR2 Spyder with Celica headlights... dramatically changed the appearance.... you might want to look into that to get the blood pumping again... 2ZZ swap is great.... but so is the Honda K-Series.... either way, make sure you have a 6-speed in it.
@@SpyderLEE what options on replacements though? I'm pretty sure I saw some from a company stateside (HIDkit or similar), but they were $1600 and didn't look that much better... and the RennenGT headlights need a fair bit of other kit to make them fit :)

Hi Lee - great to see you producing more content on the MR2! I have a suggestion for you that might be worth considering. The 2ZZ turbo or Rotrex route is well trodden and known. In effect it's not really new and the engine although great is quite old. In terms of creating something not yet done and this would benefit viewing figures (if this was something you wanted to do), might I suggest you consider fitting an 8AR-FTS? Marc @ Frankenstein motorworks has developed a swap kit for the AR series and this would be as far as I know a world first. It’s essentially the engine from a Lexus 200t think it’s now known as the 300. Stock is 250 bhp, and that’s before you turn it up. Cheers John
Good Evening SpyderLee! Brother wonder if you can guide me I. The right direction I bought a 2000 mr2 spyder and can clear the PO301 code I have done many things and check engine still comes on...let's begin first thing I did new spark plugs and coils, put all 4 new injectors, new maf sensor, check compression in the motor all good 120 and 130 range on all cylinders, check fuel pressure all good... Put the scanner and clear the ECU but after 80 miles check engine light came on again with misfire please any help on what else I can do to fix it, it would be very appreciated.
10/10 need that exhaust set up in the red and interested in what kind of rear diffuser that is on the orange?? I think it looks similar to the one used on the mr2 in the BUILT yt channel
Honestly stock, but with a nice suspension setup makes them crazy fun in the corners. Stock is fun already, but with sticky tires and nice coil overs turns the cornering speeds into butt clenching.
Sigma Projects just saying my 07 civic si makes 220whp all motor and with the 1zz and a monkey wrench racing gt2860rs setup you’re talking 265whp with a bunch of money dumped into it. The MR2 S is a beautiful car but like I said I can’t convince myself to buy one. Just my opinion! Would love to get my hands on a clean 1995 MR2 Turbo though! That sw20 is worth investing in a dry sump oil setup

But if straight line speed is what you're looking for, god damn they can be made fast. 220whp in the MRS feels like much more. They weigh 2200lbs stock. It's a good 500lbs lighter than the Civic Si, for obvious reasons. But I mean that they are fun in the mountains, I mean that's the main reason to buy a MR2.
Sigma Projects oh my SI is a blast in the Adirondack mountains it handles great with good response. When it comes to the “MRS” they literally went backwards. They should have made a better sw20 style motor not a weak 1zz 140bhp. People under estimate FWD, they can handle great watch any TCR race. Straight line or turns the “MRS” is just not my thing. For the cost to build a MRS to worthiness I could buy a stock S2000 between motor swap boost and everything else lol or just replace all the bushings update coil overs and replace some odds and ends on my SI and tear corners up. I am 100% not knocking anyone who has the passion for this car it’s simply not for me that’s all.

I do agree it made zero sense why there wasn't an optional 2ZZGE model like they had in the Lotus. The ZZ30 platform has a really high potential. Also I think the ZZ30 model kind of looks too dopey. Too bad they couldn't achieve the sleakness of the previous models with the lightweight chassis of the ZZ30. You made me curious of the current pricing. I just saw a Track setup MR2 for $2K, now I'm thinking of making bad decisions, lol.
Did you ever go ahead with getting your 1zz fully built? It looked like you had everything together to get that going, but I never saw the videos where it actually happened. I love your mr2 videos, hope the new engine gets you interested again.
@@SpyderLEE funny how life happens. I have a derelict 3000gt vr4 sitting outside my garage, cause it spun a bearing and I dont feel like ripping the engine out. I lost interest in it, and bought an mr2 instead. Which is why we are talking today. I'm right in the middle of installing a turbo on it.

1zz is evolution of 4age .Just same as 4age but little faster 2zz is nothing but overrated crap ,that is harder to modify when it comes to turbo builds .Block and crankshaft are better in 1zz.99% celica turbo builds that you gonna see are GT (1zz) . You are lucky! There’s a lot more tuning parts available in the US. A lot more people modify the spyder there too!

Yeah that exhaust is nice 😀. I’ll do a full vid on the orange one when it’s done but to get you in the right direction, the diffuser is off a Ferrari.

No, I sold it all and built the camper. Kinda wish I still had it but meh that’s life

Yes I would. I’m open to all options at the minute. But it’s going to be a driveway swap so need to keep it realistic too
