i've finally found the owl i've been hearing at night!
Just heard one tonight! Thought I recognized the call and guess correctly :)
I have been hearing then for a long time now, and finally, I found the Barred Owl and the Great Horned in my yard.
SUBZER0 MC5 um
A pair of these owls live in the woods behind my house. One of them will call out, and the other day I was peeling corn and It called out in my direction, so I decided to respond back. We had a back and forth exchange of hoots for about three minutes before my dog herd the owl and started to bark at it. Nice going Chloe you bitch
Me to I literally came to TH-cam to find this because I keep hearing it
Owls are the coolest. The outcast birds. They stay up all night. Owls are like flying cats
The Chinese term for "owl" literally means "cat-headed eagle".
TheTalinus Wow
Owls rock
Sleep13 exactly! Owls are the cats of the bird world
Add “city” in front of owl and you get the best music ever. Oh and by the way “They Stay UP ALL NIGHT” EYYYYYYY
Who cooks for you, who cooks for youuuuuuuu
hehehe good one (:
Miu Melissa you’re an idiot
LOL
@@jesuspi3ce thats what it sounds like jack ass
Hahaha! I love owls my favorite birds
The owl's all like:
Do you want to hear this message again?
> Yes No
oh my gosh is that an Ocarina of Time reference? If so, you're awesome (I haven't played it in a while)
Do you want to hear this message again
> yes Yes
Fuck no. Please don't. NOOOOOO
Yes-CRAP, I meant NO!
meanwhile smashing the A button to get through the message again only to hit yes again! lol
Something about these owls calls are just so calming to me. It's definitely my favorite bird call
Mine too. There are 3 of them that stay within a couple miles of my house. They post up in a large triangle, and it guess they communicate like that.
I’m hearing two of them right out my window at almost 5 am they sound so cool
I think barred owl is the one that wildlife officials want to eradicate from Washington state
thousands to be shot and killed
because take spotted owls soacesy😢
just read in Peninsula Daily News. - please tell me I'm wrong
Yes, & to many cultures, the sound is a premonition of evil.
I have one right by the treeline in my backyard. Every night -
Me: Wow what a long day. Time for some sleep.
Owl: Let me sing you the song of my people.
Just wanted you to know that your comment gave me a much needed belly laugh..."...song of my people..." lol.
.barred owl
SAME. It sucks SO MUCH.
zodawg0079- I would like that, to be honest. Better than my parrots screeching at 4 am...
sharkano it does not suck it is awesome I have one in my grandma's yard it's pretty cool you know
I was hoping he would tell me how many licks it would take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.

Owls providing beats for other birds to drop bars
We dread the nights the owls are hooting out in the woods because our yellow Lab doesn't know what they are and feels that they are a huge danger to us all. We hoped she would watch this and learn. But no. She is now racing about the house telling us about the monsters that are outside waiting for us. But thank you. I enjoyed this a lot, even if Lucy didn't.
Omg, my ears bleed when my dog starts that at *everything*. I knew I wasn't the only one w/ that problem.👍😅😒
Gotta ache for the spazzy dogs, man.
I just finished posting about how my old dogs hated the cry of the barred owl. You describe it much better than I did. It was exactly like we were facing an imminent, great danger. My current two dogs are not afraid of the owl cry.
Guess my house is too insulated, I never hear the great horned owls unless I'm outside, but the packs of coyotes in the wash nearby are really loud and my pittie mix gets so scared, he barks as loud and tough as he can. Usually anytime after dark
Might want to check for a human intruder sneaking around under cover of wildlife sounds, or even making them.
I don't see why people think owls are scary they're such majestic birds they have a nice sound and he sounds beautiful and funny like he's singing
So cute❤️
I love barred owls. They're gorgeous and they're fun to watch.
I absolutely love the barred owls! I love to hear them talking to each other!
He kinda stares at the camera while hooting, it's kinda like a crazy old man in a way. "WHO COOKS FOR YOU?! WHO COOKS FOR YOU AAAAALL!?"
Hi
Lol I thought it was a drunk person playing with a kazoo until I saw this video
so funny!
It's 4 am and I'm only here to figure out what damn owls are outside my house hooting up a storm right now. It's these little buggers.
They're just feelin' frisky :D
QUIT YER HOOTIN'
Beautiful birds. I love their slight creepiness.
This owl looks so unique and majestic in my opinion
Nonya Bigness I couldn’t agree more
sometimes I'll go out on my back porch late at night for a smoke break, and I can hear these exact calls. for some reason i find their calls very relaxing, it adds to the silence/calmness of night
I love owls, they are super pretty
I thought you were a decent person until you said you smoked 💀💀
I find their calls "Very" comforting as well.
м σ c н ι So he’s not even a decent person because he smokes?
@@Mightyccc , it's just another clueless broad talking shit, don't mind her
Love it. What a beauty.
It's so fluffy!
It's scary
These are the most musically inclined of all owls I've heard. Last summer 3 of them were serenading us in the woods of upstate NY; each doing a different riff, like jazz musicians. Way cool.
How cute! I love owls! 🦉
I love you Barred Owl
I love barred owls they are so cool and awesome they are one of my favorite types of birds and im taking bird camp too to learn about birds like the barred owl yay! I 💜 🕊 saw a 🐇 too and a 🐢 and a 🐟
What a cool owl. Love the vocals it makes and it has the most beautiful owls.
I still remember taking out the trash one night when I was a kid, looking up at a branch and seeing one of these fuckers staring right at me, scared the shit out of me even more when its head followed me but the body didn't move.
Madison :D if the meaning was to stay the fuck away from owls then I got it loud and clear
QUEX lol!
I used this call this weekend to call in some barred owls, we were literally surrounded, they were in the branches about 15 feet above our heads. It was amazing!! Thank you for posting! Amazing and beautiful birds.
You just played this video or you did a call?
Their eyes are gorgeous. They look like benevolent alien beings.
They are benevolent alien beings. : )
I've been hearing this sound in my backyard at least two nights per week for a while. I'm glad I figured it out. I love the sound.
They look so goofy when they do that!! 🤣😂
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Owls are awesome!
This is the sweetest, most beautiful and most relaxing sound in the world to me presently. I used to hear this sound in the dead of night in the woods outside my window when I lay on by bed after a tiring day. Even though I did not know what this sound came from, strangely, I was not concerned because the sound was so funny and I loved it. I was VERY curious as to what made this sound. Now that I know that it is made by an owl (one of my favorite animals), it's even more relaxing and pleasing and I love it.
Being a night person I frequently find myself going out at odd hours of the night and am quite frequently accompanied by the calls of these owls. I've grown to love it. Sometimes I'll just make a whistle after they call and they almost always respond back. We'll just go back and forth with eachother for a little bit. Beautiful creatures.
Omg. They are so adorable...Looks like they are dedicated to call.😂😂😂.
It's hilarious how many people get freaked out when they hear them at night, then they look it up and find this little fluff ball.
I am to understand that if you try calling to these things, there's a good chance they will respond to you, and, if you're lucky, fly in for a closer look at you. I remember years ago I was camping somewhere and a group of us led by a pair of rangers went out on a hiking trail at night and we tried doing a little owl talk. We actually got somebody to respond to us and we think it came in for a closer look. Unfortunately, it must have seen us because it stopped responding. I will admit though that that experience was interesting.
Shannon Barnett what you are saying is true....i live infront of a forest and when i hear them i do this...always sucsess
Shannon Barnett the ones in my yard respond nearly every time! We have 3 or 4 of them in the woods in our neighborhood, one in particular loves to hang out not far from our back door
I have a camp up north pa in dubois my 2 other buddies have camps up there we been calling these things in since i was 15 im 32 but like u said they only always come so close.....about 60-70 yards out is the closest ive gotten one ive got hours invested in calling them in..my wife was amazed the 1st time i did it 4 her
I talk to screech owls fairly often. They talk back until I miss my notes and they know I am an impostor. I heard a barred owl last night for the first time!
Shannon Barnett I do that all the time and we have some interesting conversations. :)
One of the older videos on You Tube and still going strong, love that owl hooting.
A great capture! The voice is so beautiful.
Heard this for the very first time! Let my dogs out at 530am. Heard this and immediately googled it, very cool. I hear horned owls a lot but this was a first!😊
Look at that beautiful face
Awww, what a lovely sound, I love barred owls
I love the sound of the barred owl calls, haunting and yet a tad comical. And their range of other calls and sounds they make are vast and amazing as well. Truly a great video, thanks for posting it, and please keep them coming.
Came to this video because one of these dudes is right out my window and always hoot keep me and my family up at night and this is one cool video and one sweet birb
Thats the exact reason im here. Outside my window every night like clockwork. You gotta love the internet lol
They're so cute and beautiful!!
Thank you for these owl sounds. I heard this outside my new townhouse. I didn't know what real owls sounded like.
These are beautiful birds. I have them in my backyard and I will be placing a nesting box for them. Love them. Thanks for sharing this video. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So cute!
How adorable!
I love listening to these owls.

The most beautiful bird....
Such a cutie pie. :3
This owl was staring into my soul, amazing!
Always nice to hear... nice video too. We have quite a large population of them here, and if two or three congregate, they go into all sorts of renditions.... they can get extremely chatty with lots of variations.
It has a really pretty face. Most owl are beautiful in a majestic way, but this owl has adorable eyes!
One of my favorite sounds to listen for when I'm camping in the boonies.
Heard this early this morning around 5 am, we are in Florida. Such acool sound, i had to google owl sounds to find which bird I was hearing. They are so dang cute too! Dont mind waking up to this.
I used to record barred owls around Gainesville, Fl. Great place for owling!🦉
Absolutely! I had one outside my yard 4 winters ago. They're such adorable chubby, friendly creatures. I went outside & said to barred owl (it was up the tree)... "You're so adorable! I wish I could pet you!" It's expression was calm and relaxed but sweet. Eventually, it flew off in a really different but cute manner.
I have two of these in my backyard trees almost every morning around 130 or 2am. I usually sit out back and drink beer by the fire by myself so they are always welcome.lol
One of the best videos on youtube
reb1138 WHO COOKS FOR YOU!!!
You're joking I hope! It's like a minute long
Hi
Homemade pizza and you can come over and you can come over
I love all birds.
There’s one in my neighborhood too. At first I thought it was eerie but I’ve grown to enjoy the owl’s call.
That owl sounds like Mario when he's jumping.
This would make a good ringtone :)
TOTALLY! : )
I agree, how can you not like this?
Amazing
I identified the right owl now!
That owl is metal.
146 unlikes from rodents and smaller birds.
Seriously? We love birds...owls are birds.
My favorite owl
Really Amazing...what a remarkable animal
I had one of these beautiful creatures in my yard today!
I used to live near a park in the DC suburbs and sometimes heard barred owls calling at night. Some nights one would perch nearby and softly call. It never kept me awake; I found it very relaxing, like they were singing me to sleep. I miss their music.
What a beautiful boy!
sounds like turntable scratching
They have complex language and insight into reality.
Barred owls are hyenas with wings
☠️
This is a great video! We play this at work for our owl and he loves listening and calling back.
One time we had a pond full of fish and each day one vanished from the pond. We wondered what was happening until one night we see one of these owls chillin on our porch looking at our pond and then it looked at us with a serious look like, "Yea I took yo fish, what you gonna do?"
There are fishing owls but to my knowledge the barred is not one of them. The culprit was probably a mink or coon. Herons are known terrors on fish in those little decorative backyard ponds.
What a handsome fellow
This sound is currently outside my window right now, so beautiful.
i love the sound of bared owls
When I hear this at 3 in the morning while feeding my dogs and goats I get goosebumps.
Wow beautiful bird, beautiful video thank you!
Love this. I've been hearing one of these guys for a few days now but I never knew he was so beautiful!
It’s gorgeous
Thats what I'm hearing right now, its really creepy yet amazing!
I love owls
That's a rap beat in the making right there!
better than DJ Mustard's whole catalogue
I ❤️ OWL
What idiot could possibly put a thumbs down on this?! This is amazing!
Mice. Think about the mice.
We have one in our woods, at least one, and very lonely at night. Its a cute sound but about an hour later I'm itching to "buy" him a mate so he can call it a night early
Pisras de blue
Omg it's a hooting floofball! I want it!
Always remember it by:
Who cooks for you, who cooks for you all.
Love these owls❤️❤️
When Barred Owls start to hoot and holler during mating season it is a wonderful and awe inspiring hoot-enanny. So many different vocalizations, truly amazing.
I can hear those beauties at night outside my window. Love it when I hear more than one calling each other.
I hear Barred owls calling in the woods next to me quite often. Sometimes they will call during the day and sometimes at night. I'm always so glad to hear them. I fondly think of them as neighbors. I went walking along the tree line of the meadow last winter on a particularly bitter cold night with thick snow on the ground and the only sound there was to be heard was the sound of two Barred Owls calling back in the woods. It was amazing to just stand there and listen to them calling to each other in the cold and the dark, their voices reverberating through the woods.
what a beautiful creature
I'm not even kidding when I say this..Last year, late spring I was skateboarding at night sometime around when cicadas are out and about. They are almost everywhere in NC, I like cicadas, they are pretty cool bugs and one was on the sidewalk so I walked over to say hi. I went to nudge the cicada with my foot to see if he'd buzz and one of these owls swooped down and almost hit my leg. Like this bird was literally less than a foot away from my leg, it scared the freakin' hell out of me. Simply because this bird is pretty large and you can't hear them so when he came down my back was semi turned and all I see is this massive predator bird go after the same cicada. He missed cause I think I blocked him a little. I think he thought I was going after his meal since cicadas are vastly eaten by many wildlife, hell even humans eat cicadas in some countries. This owl had me twisted tho, I guess I should be thankful I really came that close to a barred owl in the wild. I was in awe, but it wasn't without surprising fear.
hey man that is the coolest thing ever👍
Mark Bulgarin I'll admit it was cool after the initial shock. To be that close to a large wild animal is pretty special. Even if it did almost take my leg out.
Haha yes i love these animals but it would shock me too. Especialy since you cant hear them coming. And thanks for the reply...stay safe man👍
Mark Bulgarin oh no doubt man, and it did! I mean..it's wingspan was probably about 3-4 feet long so getting that close to a large animal all of a sudden is pretty frightening. I love just about all animals myself. I especially like showing love for animals people think are ugly or don't care much for, like insects..snakes, spiders, possums. Owls are a majestic creature and are a lot more common than people tend to think they are. You can literally usually step outside of your home and be your own wildlife adventurer. I live in the Suburbs of NC but I've had close encounters with foxes, raccoons, deer, hawks, snakes, vultures you really run into a lot of stuff if you just go out and explore. This is why I love skateboarding so much too..it gets me outside where I have the opportunities to run into critters. A lot of the greatest things in life are totally free..it's all about the experience.
I totaly agree on that. I live in hoogvliet this is a small town only 15 minutes away from the city of rotterdam. The same over here....you can find 3 kind's of owls ,foxes ,al kind of birds an even deer.
