If a hot girl approaches you and offers to buy you a drink, be careful, you might wake up on ice with your GPU core and memory missing.
Lol😅
Never gonna happen.
Girls do no approach me.
I do not drink.
Not much ice here in Kentucky.
I love it whilst they strip gpu and vram, due to sanctions ,really good price for a replacement pcb if the pads not stripped
Or, it could be James O'Keefe...
haha, that's a good one!!🔥🔥
Hahahahahahahahahahah best analogy ever 😂😂😂😂
The eBay ads specifically says no core and no memory
99.9% of buyers DO NOT READ the description.
Description is not a fine print of legal terms yet people still dont read it.
There are people who even buy "box only" ads thinking it's a gpu.
@@northwestrepair another problem is that the description is not readily shown on the mobile eBay app. You have to click on a drop down to get it to appear.
I don't mean to sound rude but... are Americans really this dumb?!
I mean, a 4090 for $300?!
Even if the ad doesn't explicitly mention the lack of core and vRAM, I still wouldn't touch it. That's just too good to be true.
@@ryanmcgraw1743 another reason to never use mobile device for shopping or any money involved activity.
Of course he didn't get scammed... HE JUST CANT READ.
Probably is not really highlighted in the AD, no one would buy them if the ad was completely transparent. Ebay seems to be fine with deceptive ads of this nature, like the old ad trick selling a box its predatory and not everyone is intelligent or careful all the time
@@francistaylor1822 Sure they would. If they needed a donor board to replace a broken board.
@@francistaylor1822 There was an asshole selling I9 boxes for $150 on Ebay. Predatory bullshit.
Weren't people buying posters of PlayStation 5's thinking they were actually getting systems?
I remember when people were listings for an "Xbox box" on eBay. Guess what people thought they were buying...
it was for the auto buying bots during the gpu mining crisis. i remember one listing even warned human buyers that it was specifically targeting bots.
@dracolnyte yep there was MANY MANY listing's that said "for Bots only"
They were selling pdf‘s from 3080s on eBay for 1000$ too. Covid times…
Confucius said, you cannot fix what is not there 😅
He paid almost the proper price for it. 200$ for the PCB and the big chunky cooling assembly + shipping seems apropriate. :D
love that the paste is still there but the core is missing lol
why bother wiping it off?
It clearly says even in the title no GPU:
ZOTAC NVIDIA RTX 4090 TRINITY OC 24G housing/stock fan/Coolers/Heatsink NO GPU
🤣 confirmed decription says clearly "No serial number removed! Not actual gpu just the cooler, and the box. "🤣😂
I seen recently extremely sus 4090 offers on eBay. One for 30-50€, but over 400€ shipping costs, and the seller has no reviews and created their account on the same month
I had remembered someone tried similar thing with Xbox 360 once.
it's because shipping costs are non ebay-taxated i think
@@Justgreen89925 tax and fees are calculated from the entire cost of an order, price+shipping
I'm Australian and a lot of listings I see are American with rip off postage to bypass eBay fees to the seller. They know what they are doing, and I report them, they piss me off.
always read the whole ad.
it's a 404, not a 4090
404
4090 not found
that is the new slim/light version of a 4090
Subscribed for a couple years, so interesting to see the products I sell end up here. lol
What do you use the cores and memory for?
@@diebygaming8015 Repairing other cards probably.
@@diebygaming8015 Smuggling cores to China N. Korea or Russia is much easier than the entire PCB and cooler.
@@diebygaming8015 Since in China it's hard to get by server GPUs like the H100, one practice is to take the core from a 4090 and put it on a custom board with a lot of VRAM added for data centers. No idea if that's what happened to this core, just one possibility.
wtf?
To be fair the ones I've seen seller does say no core or vram parts only
If something seems too good to be true, it almost always is. But people can't help themselves and think they can get a deal for $300.
But good deals do exist, like the Motherboard and GPU I bought listed as untested, for parts only, and both work fine and were dirt cheap.
well, think it this way: no core, no problem. No VRAM No artiffact. What else could you possibly want?
The reason a lot of these are for sale, is because in china they designed their own single slot pcb and they use the 4090 core and ram, The can put a lot of smaller pcbs in a server for AI, these housings are too large..
"can you repair my GPU without my GPU?"
🤣🙃
Appreciate the use of manual screw driving.
well the good point of that card is that it wont get absurdly hot hahahaha
so you are the reason i saved gpus at repair shop i work for
An adage as old as time itself... If its too good to be true, then it is.
If it SEEMS too good to be true. You are all morons. If it IS too good to be true, then why are you buying it!?
not always, but usually. recently got $100k off a purchase i've been wanting to make for over 14 years, my cost was only $18k. far too be too good to be true, but it actually was true, and life changing.
@@Cara.314 99.9% usually for people who doesn't have 14 years to spare
1:06 I bet there is no GPU chip and memory inside 😂
2:16 Hahaha I was right 😂
300$, pretty expensive paperweight
If you know what you're doing you can get a lot of good stuff off of eBay. People that say eBay is nothing but junk are people that don't know how to use eBay. Sometime unusual key words is your friend.
I was yelling at my phone the whole time you were taking the cooler off "I bet there's no core!" 😂😂😂
I Bought My 3060 12GB And It Was 720Euros, But It Was 2 Years AGo Or Something ! :) Still KickingHARD !
It's like selling a car and forgetting to tell the customer there's no engine ..
I knew what it was thanks to you the last time this happened
FBI open up
But there's no one at home.😂
provided everything else works on the card, can he get another 4090 with a broken pcb but with all the cores and memory intact and put them together?
China has an embargo that NGreedy could not sell AI chips, So what China did was to Import a shit ton of 4090`s and striped the core and other parts. So maybe some one got greedy and started selling the parts to recoup the costs.
Sorry for gramer, I`m tired. (BTW great channel)
iam comparitivelly happy that the parts of ebay listings i seem to persistantly miss is "seller is away for 3 weeks your item will be delayed" ,or "signed for delivery" (no one home all day 5 days a week)
Somebody stole the core!
a view from the side (towards between the sandwich) you gotta see there are no chips too
Lol. Can you post a follow-up video with the customer ?
Please show us your invoice for a damaged 4090 even damage @300$. I could not find anything close to that price
Saw a local listing for one for 500 but it was also missing internals, showed leds but didnt ever post
What the frak?
Buy tech gear ⚙️ from the maker. Buy new gear ⚙️ as well. I have been screwed before. Never, never ever again.
Ive bought a lot of used computer parts, made decent money doing it, If the ad says for parts only, No GPU- dont expect a GPU- you will be fine.
No refund I guess.
Repair attempt and express repair fees? You sure learned something from big boss
Yeah, heard about those quite a bit ago. Apparently Chinese are harvesting GPU and memory to put it on their own PCB, they don't need rest of 4090, because all they are doing is transplant to PCB that is blower cooler compatible for servers and stuff. So they are left with bunch of those "shells" of 4090 they don't need and they scam away. Useful if you are only after PCB, though Chinese are known that they treat stuff like consumable or trash. So they tend to not care how much collateral damage they cause by removing core and VRAM. Bit like with mining, some of worse ex-mining cards I saw were from Chinese crypto miners. But yeah, buyer be aware, there is bunch of literally brain dead 4090 PCBs circling around.
But yeah, don't buy things that sound too good to be true, they are exactly that. Most of those chap deals are either empty PCBs, or cards that worked in really bad condition and re just before dying. Or they can also be not complete, I think it was Ampere where miners sold cards with defective memory they somehow managed to hack card to not use. Or it is much older card VBIOS hacked to show off as newer card. It got bit funny when they were doing GTX600 cards and driver support was dropped, but because card was hacked to show up as newer, it would let you install latest drivers, but drivers wouldn't work, I think it caused blue screen and you had to look up for older driver to boot it. :-D But yeah, don't be silly thinking you got insane deal, Also when buying, make sure your "refund" options are good and don't waste money on trying to fix it, get refund, return it and that is it. Most of those, if not all, won't be worth fixing.
So this is what the Chinese guy on eBay does with the leftovers after he smuggles the GPU die over to China....
I heard of 4090 without cores going around. So, what's the purpose? Is it because is easier to smuggle the core and the VRAM to china that way? And where do they install the core and the VRAM in china?
Make 4090s that nicely fit in a server to be used as AI accelerators -- plain old PCIe power input on the back side, normal height matching PCIe bracket, 2-slot blower style cooler.
Maybe they even manage to run memory in clamshell mode for 48GB, but that's just a guess given 22GB mods of 2080 Ti exist
technology bans from the
USA are working out well aren't they.
They’re selling it for parts.
@@niter43yes, thats exactly whats happening. There were quite a few articles talking about this a while back.
yes they are sending them to China to use in Ai machines
i would buy just asus , gainward and nvidia cards ,-)
Ok, apart from someone's problem with reading, what people buying these think?
Used 4090 in decent condition would be sold at $1500-$1800. If it's below $1000, there's something wrong. So why would anyone assume that for 6x less it would be legit?!
I know what this is gonna be even before I click. and I'm not disappoint
wondering how is the owner 's reaction after watching the video
Well... Maybe he received what he really paid for
all he needs now is the core socket, core and the memory
What if I had something like this where it is missing the core and mems + another one with burnt connector/cracked pcb. Would it be possible to take the core and mems then reball it on this one?
It is cheaper to buy new
Yeah, this is exactly when this PCB will be nice deal. If you are actually able to do so and not kill card in process.
Tony could do it.
1:22 "Please don't hit the dislike button just yet"! Man, I press the like button first and I watch the video after. I know it will be quality content.
hey, they're good to use as a host for a broken pcb card.
At least those cards won't burn out any time soon ! ;p
You get what you pay for . Lucky for that it was only a few hundred bucks .
Thumbnail: THIS IS NOT A SCAM
Video: "I just want to bring this scam to people's attention..."
Well at least it would be good to replace one with a broken board need the slot
Sure there was a story a while ago about Chinese stripping the chips from 4090 for AI.
"This one will blow your mind..." 😂
while watching this vid I got an anxiety attack because your work mat has a slight discoloration on the upper right side. I had fallen asleep while my comp running last night and thought i had some burn in on my monitor. lol
NRF might be able to fix it 🙂
people who pay 10% of what real price is should be banned from sending you gpu for repair
I'm confused why your thumbnail for the video said "This is NOT a Scam!" -- and then you proceeded to show us the scam (which may not have been a scam if the Ebay seller said that he had removed those components). It just seems like you could have put "Scam?" instead.
Because the people he's trying to reach won't click on this is a scam apparently so he's hoping a little reverse psychology might do it on the video title
it looks not like a graphics card but by some sort of AC unit
This is the best wireless gpu.
I think I bid on that auction
I've had this happen to me. Thankfully I was able to stop the payment before that asshole got his hands on the money.
Did you read the description?
@@RealNovgorod Of course, and the price was $750 as well. I re-read it a couple times and it didn't say anything about being parts or PCB only, minus the GPU core. Plus the price was okay, but wasn't too good to be true. If I remember, it was a mining card as well and had the GPU-Z SS's, Benchmark results, etc.
@@harrynazarian3184 Then it wasn't the same guy. 750 bucks for a 4090 is still definitely too good to be true, at least for a complete one.

it’s just a heavy pricey paperweight for casuals
you could hook up the RGB lights and fans, mount that babby in a case and use integrated graphics and post pics all over the the interweb - for gamer clout
Too bad NVIDIA doesn't sell replacement cores or memory... Waiting for that right to repair legislation to take effect
Although if this was me I probably would try to stop them from sending the card in to avoid charging them for a repair attempt
It's actually my cousin's card. He got it on Facebook marketplace for $900 which I told him was a little too good to be true.. It was not a $300 eBay card.
Good videos. Continue! Please check your spelling of your title!
Ah yeah thanks 👍
As soon i saw the missing bracket, i knew the GPU is missing lol.
To be honest, there's no "cousin" here
why are there so many board with core and vrm missing? tuns of listings on ebay. what are they doing with them?
Building AI machines to take over the world.
Asking for a "friend"(in this case: cousin), ofc.
0:53 Why is that a red flag? Personally I never take these peels off my tech (PC, TV, watches, phones etc.), unless they start falling off on their own.
My question is why remove the core and memory? Wouldn't selling the complete fully functional card be more profitable than whatever the core and memory was used or sold for? I could see selling the PCB and cooler without memory or a core if the PCB itself was damaged beyond repair and the memory and core was used to repair another card, just not an already fully functional card used for that purpose.
The card is most likely sold for parts.
These cards had a dead core most likely. And card without a core isnt worth much, so that why they are being sold like this. New cores are rare or expensive, easier to salvage whatever is still working and worth a dime (memory) and sell what remains to someone who has a spare core from another dead card.
the cards are sold for parts- maybe a dead core or memory, so a shop pulls the good exspensive stuff and sells the cooler and PCB- I have head of the cores and memory being reused for AI programing in enterprise boards-
yeah, its not a scam same as people selling boxes because in description they write box only eh, leave bad feedback to people like this and report it as well for scam style
For a religious guy, you're not bad.
So if the guy has to pay for the repair attempt, will you credit him with the profit you made from this video? I expect that you'll take the customer's money and the TH-cam cash as well.
Seriously ?
What planet are you from, socialist china ?
@@northwestrepair And you spent how much time on his board? 5 minutes? And still charge him? Are you from planet Scrooge McDuck?
before watching the video, I guess no core and no memory
Can i have the shroud with fans 😂 and the back plate

was it a scamm or the guy was selling it for parts?
parts only, but the people don't read descriptions
Parts- reading is hard for some - its says exactly what he was buying
What repair attempt?
we need to report these sellers or ebay needs to sue them so bad they never come back
If they're chinese sellers then ebay can at most impotently shake their fist at them. First thing you should assume when you're dealing with a chinese seller is that you're getting scammed.
Ebay know for fact they are fraudsters but they still get their 10% so they do not care.
