    I am just assembling this X1 onto my bike. I was unable to get the chainrings on bottom bracket because the chain was too short. I am a helicopter engineer and a former bike mechanic so, no, I am not just needing to fiddle with it more. I finally put the chain between the two sprockets and managed to get enough movement to get it on the bottom bracket. At this point there is no slop in the chain to allow me to get it on the big sprocket without some force, so I put one crank arm on and turned it as I used a hex wrench to push it sideways until it caught one tooth. They I muscled it around until it fell in place. I released the tensioning wheel on to the chain and it barely deflected. If there was one more link in the chain it would have looked like the one in the video (at 2:45). I am not impressed. I have the 63 tooth drive sprocket.

    • @bjnslc
      @bjnslc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you get the too-short chain resolved? I'd guess they mistakenly packed the 53t version's chain. It looks like the tensioner is designed to work with a fair amount of slack. What does the waterproofing look like for the controller? The user guide is 100X better than what Bafang offers.

      I had a really tough time too. I had to tap the freewheel/chainring unit on to the bottom bracket with a rubber mallet, but it still wouldn't go in all the way. Bike works and shifting is ok, but the chain in falling off when it gets bumpy.

    Great video! Looks like an awesome motor. Better than the BBSHD? In the order form on the linked site below there are a couple options and I am not sure what to choose. 1: Chainring options: 11/53T or 11/63T (default)? Crank arm length: 165mm / 170mm (default)? 2: Throttle options: Half Twist / Thumb(default) / Full Twist? What battery voltage will you use?

    • @ridingmtl
      @ridingmtl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i said 11/53 170mm Half Twist 52v

    • @bjnslc
      @bjnslc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ridingmtl why did you pick those specs? I assume the 53t drive with the smaller chainring has lower gearing for more climbing power and slower top speed. Is that correct? 170mm provides more pedaling leverage but with a longer pedal stroke. Half twist seems a good pick where you're primarily riding with assist and want the trottle optional...without compromising your grip using a thumb throttle.

    • @ridingmtl
      @ridingmtl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bjnslc i emailed cyc support to ask according to the specs of my bottom bracket (73mm) and drive train (36/22) witch should i choose, and he kindly replied. Also, mostly 36/22 has a 152.2 diameter, so you can go for the 11/53T, which has a 140mm diameter. You can also select a larger one if there are enough space within the chainstay.

    that one has a square frame for the motor mount, what happens if you have a rounded frame instead?

    • @HolgerBeetz
      @HolgerBeetz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What shall happen ? The CYC motor is constructed in such a way that the resulting torque from the motor is transmitted to the mount itself. The mount / motor holder which is pressed against the downtube and hold there in place by some metal strap doesn´t have to transmit much forces to the frame other than the bumps from the up and downs from riding the bike itself. All other forces are simply transmitted to the BB axle via motor mount.

    My experience so far with the Stealth has not been good. I'm on my second controller and haven't managed a successful ride in the woods. It keeps stopping and I end up pushing it home. It's not overheating and it made a honking noise like there were phase collisions going on in the motor. Support is questionable as CYC refers me to the dealer in Utah who is not really knowledgeable. I'm not sure where they get 150nm of torque from. My old Cyclone motor has more raw torque and never left me to walk home. Not ready for prime time.

    • @bobbybecker80
      @bobbybecker80 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks; I was ready to purchase the system, but will defer for now. My BBS02 on a hardtail ridden off road has been reliable for seven years with NO maintenance.

    • @dougnash6316
      @dougnash6316 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bobbybecker80 I'm now on my 3rd controller and despite it being an older version that is not waterproofed I'm getting some encouraging results. On the trails I run in granny gear and it will do 28 km/h because this motor revs to about 6000 rpm whereas my Cyclone only did 800 but had massive torque from zero so I ran in 3rd gear and could pedal along with it as needed and for more excercise. The Stealth is too fast to pedal with unless using PAS and then you are just going slow anyway on the trails. I did 66 km/h on the road on throttle and of course you can't pedal that fast. That's over 40mph. The Stealth climbs much better than the Cyclone but under heavy load it cut out mid climb and caused me to crash heavily, falling back down the trail. CYC says a new controller and app are coming soon and I'm trying to get one, #4 controller, but for now I feel like I'm Beta testing a product for them. The display needs some rework too. It's very cumbersome to use. I bought the kit to get my ground clearance back to normal for this bike which is an 04 Santa Cruz downhiller and it's great to be able to clear logs and rocks without bashing the motor.
